The Living Room. Spacious coffee table, confy newly reupolstered chairs & big loungey red velvet couch & throne. Lots of light during the day, lots of lovely creative lamps for at night.
We added a private bedroom for two in the beautiful House of Collection available as of September 30th! We also have a two person loft bed in the main room. Williamsburg is quiet with great access to the city - come stay with us for your NYC visit.
Please check in with us if you plan to have more than 2 people in one bed for your stay, as availability of the second bed varies. Thank you!
Take advantage of this exciting opportunity to stay at the fabled House of Collection. As featured in the New York Times' Home & Garden Section ("A Live in Cabinet of Curiosities") as well as various short films & music videos (one of our favorites is Amanda Palmer's "What's the Use of Won'drin")
We have created a private bedroom with a double bed which will be available to our airbnb guests September 30th. It has south facing windows and plenty of room for your belongings. If there are four people in your party we also have the Birch Loft, a tree house which sleeps 2 and overlooks our public spaces, available.
This eccentric & aesthetically rich artists loft is a bit of Williamsburg history. Established in 1989, it features an array of oddities both diverse & prodigious. From the walls of antique tools & implements, to the antique, vintage & hand-crafted furniture, art, taxidermy & collections of collections, it is a NY experience not to be missed.
The incredible decor is complimented by a full wall of south facing windows & a raised area, with a wicker sofa and brimful of plants, known as "The Garden Platform".
The sunny, spacious living room area has a big red velvet couch, a throne, fainting couch & numerous comfy chairs & nooks to nestle in, as well as large low coffee table.
The back section of the loft has a full wall of mirrors & is great for stretching, dancing or working out. Highlighted by a collection of antique cash registers, & other neat stuff, with a ceiling & wall of beautiful reclaimed tin.
The lavatory has a river stone floor (stones from fairyland, for real!), a beautiful claw foot tub with a copper shower enclosure as well as a washer & dryer.
The Conservatory, which is just off the main room through big double doors, functions as a library, music room craft area. It also has a comfy sofa which can sleep one. Here you will also find a 1913 Chickering Standup Piano and and a gallery of art work and family portraits, and a lot of really good books.
The kitchen is equipped with full electric range, oven, toaster & toaster oven. microwave, vintage blender, cuisinart, fridge with freezer, a grinder & french press for coffee-making, cookware, flatware, dinnerware etc., with a small table comfortably seating 4.
Sheets & Towels provided. Hanging space for clothing is also available.
There is a house stereo setup, with audio input for an iPod or other device. We do not have cable, but we have a 17" monitor with multiple adapters available for use with your computer. Please ask when booking.
WiFi is strong throughout the house.
The loft is 1500sf with 12ft ceilings and is located on Berry Street 1 block from Bedford Avenue (where you can find a vast array of shopping and restaurants); 2 blocks from the East River, upon which there are a number of pretty parks, as well as two different stops on the East River Ferry (Which we highly recommend a trip on, perhaps down to the Brooklyn Bridge Park?); We are two blocks from the Williamsburg Bridge, across which you can get to Manhattan in 20 minutes on foot, or 10 minutes by bike or car (cabs can be flagged down in the neighborhood). We are also easy walking distance from the Bedford stop on the L train & the Marcy stop on the J,M, & Z trains and are 1 subway stop from Manhattan.
This is not a space we can recommend for folks with small children along, as there are many fragile things, as well as sharp pokeys.
Also, unfortunately, no outside pets allowed, even for short visits from your friends.
We also have two kittens. Check with us if it's a concern.
We are not currently up for the House of Collection hosting large gatherings. That being said, this is a wonderful place to have a few friends over for a nice dinner or a couple of drinks & some music making, so feel free!
We are happy to host you, and can give you lots of exciting insight about the neighborhood & places to visit throughout the city, as well as answering questions about the space. Depending on the timing of your visit, you may be sharing a bathroom, a kitchen & the public space with us.
IF YOU'D LIKE TO DO A PHOTO/VIDEO SHOOT:
We have distinctly different protocols/rates for shoots here than for stays, & alas cannot offer both at once. Please look us up online and contact us through other means should you like to do a photo or video/movie shoot here.
Also please note that we are a smoker friendly household, though we do have an industrial air filter & lots of fans.
Guests will have full access to the bathroom and kitchen, as well as the living room, garden platform, conservatory (music and books), and the mirrored dance space at the back. Guests are not allowed in our bedroom (at the back). Guests will be loaned keys for the doors, stairwell and elevator.
Our house is arranged in what most would consider an 'open loft' floor plan. During guests stays expect to share the bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen is directly next to our Birch Loft, and the conservatory is partially open to our living room. Wooden 'screens' can be provided upon request, should your additional guests want more visual privacy in the conservatory.
We are in South Williamsburg one block from the Williamsburg bridge and 2 blocks from the East River. The neighborhood has become a real NYC destination; it's full of great restaurants, boutiques and nightlife options but still a bit removed from the noise and bustle of Manhattan. There is a small waterfront park 5 blocks away and a bigger one is a 12 block walk away.
We are 3 blocks to the entrance of the Williamsburg bridge: 10 minutes by car or cab to Manhattan, 20 minutes if you walk, which affords gorgeous views of the city and river. We are 1 stop from Manhattan by subway, 10 blocks from the L train which connects to most other trains along 14th street and a bit less to the J and M trains which travel over the bridge.
No pets for any duration, No drinks on the piano,
No use of the various antiquities, including anything mounted on he wall or the hat collection.
No cigarette butts in the plants.
Recycle, Recycle, Recycle
Turn the fans off when they are no longer pointed at you.

No parties, unless pre-approved by us.
This is most "Alice in wonder land" living experiences I ever had in all the past airbnb booking history.
The location- the building is in the heart of Williamsburg (Brooklyn) which is one of the most hippister/artistic area in NYC, so many great shops and restaurants around. It's also close to lower east of SOHO by the L line train. ( 10-15 minutes walk)
The hosts - are wonderful and super friendly! We have a early check in because the flight, the hosts very considering and said it's okay. They actually talk with the tenants ( most of the hosts I experienced left the house early come back late or being very quiet, maybe shy),but Paige & Ahnika are easy going, Im sure they being photoshoot by tenants and media all the times but they still enjoy talk about their story and let me take pictures for them : D
The house- It's exactly as amazing as how its shows in the pictures. The house full of interesting small stuffs, definatly feel like live in a museum or a boutique store. The only shortage is the cleaness, the house full of big/small stuffs so I guess its just difficult to keep the dust away. But in my view, its really worth to live here, just experience a different life style. Its truly interesting!
In short, this is a reality version Alice in Wonderland. I hope people who stop by NYC not just stay in the fancy hotel/ chain hotel all the time (its boring!) Try sth different, the mix culture combinational is the true spiritual of NYC! You have to see that : D
There was only one single problem I experienced in staying with Paige & Ahnika...and that was the fact that I couldn't stay FOREVER! This home is amazing beyond words and I know that every attempt I make at describing how magical it was, simply won't do it any justice. You have to experience it for yourself.
As a seasoned Airbnb guest, this was by far the best listing I've stayed at to date. Paige is wonderful, accommodating and truly a pleasure to speak with. From the moment the door opened, I felt right at home. I was warmly greeted and given a tour of the loft, followed by tea and some recommendations of places to visit in NYC. While I didn't get a chance to meet Ahnika, I sure hope I get the opportunity to in the future.
I honestly can't say enough great things about my stay and I highly recommend the House of Collection to anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind listing in the Brooklyn neighborhood.
This is an experience more than a accomodation! For us it was perfect and Ahnika and Paige was really nice and helpful. It is like entering another world! However, you'll need to have an open mind to enjoy this stay :). We are still facinated over the amazing apartment!
What a wondrous display of odd collections. Enjoyed our stay immensely, which made being in New York all that much more enjoyable. Our hosts were awesome and easy to converse with. Couldn't help but spend a few hours just gazing at all the wonders. The room & board are comfortably clean. We would recommend to any travelers lost & in need of a warm shelter, to book a night or 2 at the House of Collection!
So sorry to hear that Cody was uncomfortable in the bathroom. I'm such a hippy that it never even occurred to me! We will rig up a curtain to alleviate the problem. Our mailing address is 302 Bedford Avenue, #266, Brooklyn NY (phone number hidden). We get stuff at a box a few blocks away since the local post office is a nightmare. It was lovely to meet you guys and I hope the rest of your trip was fun. OxO
Fascinating collection of art. The space is comfortable, quiet and so cool. This is the ideal Williamsburg location. Annika and Paige are charming.
My stay at Paige & Ahnika's place was nothing other than magical. From the minute I walked in, I felt welcomed, not only by Paige and her warmth, but by the Love of their home itself. I felt held and surrounded by wonderfulness. Here's the funny thing, here I am, in the middle of Brooklyn, I could have gone all over the place, eaten in all kinds of restaurants (which are wonderful and within walking distance, like two seconds walking), but I somehow couldn't find myself wanting to leave their Apartment. I cooked each night, washed my dishes in the old farmhouse sink, slept in the wonderful sleeping loft (after falling asleep on the couch). Need I say more? I am a writer / artist and wrote and daydreamed and hung out with their wonderful kitties, and was nurtured the entire time. The place itself is one of the most amazing places I've ever been, unending inspiration. If you're looking for a magical experience, or even just a very very cozy place, stay here. You'll not regret.
Wow, what an experience. Staying at Paige & Ahnika's place was awesome. Unfortunately, I never got to meet Paige, but Ahnika was a most gracious and helpful host. I let them know beforehand that I have a severe cat allergy, and they made sure the entire place was spotless when I got in. The garden area is very peaceful, and there's a fantastic view. This place is better than the listing makes it out to be. Only downsides to the place are that it can get a little hot if you don't use the fans/ air conditioner generously, but that's not a big deal if you don't plan on spending 100% of your time in the apartment. Also, the shower is a little inconsistent as far as finding the right temperature, however, yet again. Not a big deal.
I produce music, and came to this place knowing I had a lot on my plate. I found the environment to be inspirational, and great for those people that might need a place to work or just relax. I would definitely stay here again.
We are passionate about The House of Collection and love the time we spend curating it. We are also dancers and fire performers. Our most recent project was called Gypsy TransTemporalis and debuted at the Figment Arts Festival earlier this year. Ahnika makes beautiful adornments and offers them via her shop "Amalgam Nouveau" on Etsy and Paige is a bookkeeper for non-profit organizations. We are avid readers and have a huge book collection as well!
