Villa Magnolia - a secret haven in the heart of wine country - Chile - Early 20th century farm house nestled amidst ancient treees, fruit orchards, rose gardens, swimming pool and the gentle shade of a magnificent magnolia tree.

Lo spazio
Once a long strip of land from the Andes to the sea, Villa Magnolia has been in the family for over 60 years. For several decades, the property has been lovingly cared for, each object and site with its own memory and story to tell. Only an hour away from Santiago, our home is at the very heart of the wine country and branches into several, quaint old roads, farms, and fields. However, Villa Magnolia's true charm is in simply staying put, resting, swimming, eating, and reenergizing within the breathtaking sites of the orchard. During late spring and summer, the orchard is blossoming with apricots, cherries, apples, peaches, raspberries and several vegetables, all ready to be picked at your leisure.

Accesso per gli ospiti
The house is all yours. Let yourself be transported back in time, get lost in the rose garden, discover several fruit orchards, roam through peaceful acres of Chilean flora, tan or swimm under the bluest sky, play cards under the avocado tree, have lunch under the magnolias, indulge in a nice nap in the gazebo hammock, or simply treat yourself to an Andes sunrise or sunset.

Altre cose da tenere a mente
Our home is truly special. You can find plenty of spots with wonderful shade, or plenty with warm sun ( don't forget to bring your sun screen ! ).
You will find 6 bedrooms, some with private bathrooms and a couple of others with shared bathrooms that connect to each room.

There is a big diningroom and living room with satellite TV to entertain in, as well as several different corners and nook and crannies to peacefully read or work in. We'll bet you that you will only really be inside at night or if it happens to rain... the trees and the pool will be much too attractive to spend time indoors. You can even take a siesta in our pergola's hammock!

We must warn you that there are one or two dogs on the premises. They live next door with the caretaker, but they do tend to roam around the house at times. They are completely civilized, love to be pet, and don't bother children at all.

Finally, you will recieve a USB mobile internet connector so you can keep in touch, but you will need a computer since it does not work on tablets.

As mentioned before, you are 60 minutes away from Santiago, so you can easily go for day trips without having to stay in our busy, polluted, and noisy capital city.

There's two nearby towns where you can get groceries, fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh bread (there's even a couple of small supermarkets), all a 10 minute ride away.

Santa Cruz, a beautiful town with an amazing museum of Chilean and Colonial history (and also a casino in a 5 star hotel), is 75 minutes away.
In the area surrounding Santa Cruz, you will find the best wineries in the country, where you can get to try wines, ride a train (La Ruta del Vino), or eat at some of the wineries' restaurants.

On the way to Santa Cruz, you can visit the town of Chimbarongo, where artisans make wonderful wicker baskets, furniture, etc.

If you like road trips, Pichilemu, allegedly one of the best spots in the world for surfing, is 2.5 hours away, on the Pacific coast.

You can also take a ride (maybe 45 minutes) towards the Andes mountains and visit Coya, an old mining town in the heart of the mountains. If you book ahead, you can even visit Sewell and El Teniente, a huge undeground copper mine.

75 minutes away from our house you can also visit Los Lingues, a 19th century colonial house that has been preserved for tourism.

Finally, the house is exactly 10 minutes away from the busiest casino in Chile, Monticello, where you can also find some great restaurants.

I'm an English teacher from Santiago, Chile. I'm the principal of the school, and I'm a debate coach, so I've traveled several times with school and national Chilean teams to the Worlds Schools Debating Championship and other competitions in Athens, Istambul, Qatar, Dundee, Antalya, Bangkok, Czehc Reublic and the US. My mother, my sister and me have a house in the country only one hour away from Santiago (10 kms. north of Rancagua, which is a small city to the south of our capital. The house has been in our family since the early '50s, when my mother was a teenager. It's a house where we have spent wonderful times, enjoying the country, the peaceful setting, 100+ year old trees and the convenience of being near to our homes and jobs in Santiago, and 15 minutes away from Rancagua, which has everything one can need (supermarkets, hardware stores, etc.) We are a small family, and the house is empty a lot, so we thought it would be nice to share it with people who might enjoy the country. When we come here we read, have friends over, swim in our very nice swimming pool, watch movies at night, sleep (a lot), and on occasions make day trips to interesting locations nearby. We are looking forward to being hosts to families and groups of friends who want to get to know Chile's wineries, fruit farms, traditional colonial towns while also spending some days just soaking in the shade or sun and having a nice siesta in our pergola's hammock.
