Descrizione

L'alloggio

The Kaya Cottages are two unique, restored Turkish farm cottages with pool near the sea in the idyllic rural village of Kayakoy, near Fethiye and OluDeniz in Southwest Turkey - The famous "Turquoise Coast", a relaxing, holiday getaway.

It is the perfect place to relax or to explore
Each cottage has a private area and the property is surrounded by gardens and a rustic stone wall. The property boasts panoramic views of rolling hills and sweet scented pine forests with a mountainous backdrop.

At dusk you can relax in the Cottage grounds listening to the call to prayer echo around the Valley, the hum of the cicadas from the treetops or owls calling to each other.

The beautifully tiled pool area is raised above the property and overlooks the picturesque Kayakoy Valley. The pool area is flooded with sunshine all day then is lit up at night time for relaxing and star gazing or a midnight dip during balmy summer evenings.

Accesso ospiti

Entire cottage and a pool that is shared with the second 1 bedroom Cottage.

Interazione con gli ospiti

I will be present during guests stay and visit the property several times a week or as required. Happy to show guests around the Village and point them in the right direction for eats and sights.

Il quartiere

I love the heady smell of the pine forests, the spectacular views of the mountains on either side of the valley, discovering ruins on the hillsides and of course trekking down to the beaches and bays.

Kaya is one of the rare places where you will truly find the unspoilt side of Turkey and experience real Turkish culture and Village life. It is the perfect place to relax or to explore the forest trails and beaches and bays of the Turquoise Coast.

Neighbours can been seen tending to their animals and bustling about with domestic chores or collecting wood and herbs from the hillsides. A must is to sample their delicious home made yoghurt, cheese, honey, fresh Village eggs, olives, oils, jams and vinegars as well as a wonderful range of sun ripened fresh fruits and vegetables.

Visitors can find the hidden Monastery overlooking the Mediterranean, sample Turkish Cuisine and Hospitality at nearby family owned restaurants or swim and chat with Turkish locals at Gemiler Beach amongst the many activities the area has to offer.

Kaya Village is located around the historic ruins of Levissi. Approx. 400 ruins of lie nestled against the hillside, forming a unique open-air museum. Levissi (or Karmylassos) was abandoned as part of a forced population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1923. Exploring the site via worn pathways weaving between houses and churches is a wonderful experience.

The ruins of Levissi were the inspiration for the Louis De Berniere’s novel Birds Without Wings. "Birds Without Wings.

Un giro nei dintorni

Easy, the area is serviced by a local, modern minibus system called the "dolmus". Runs every half hour/hour in low season. A transport system found throughout Turkey.

Altre cose da evidenziare

We spent 5 days in the Cottage and our time there was definitely passing too quickly, but this place is so wonderful that even 2 full months would not be enough. The pool was great & so was the appartment; clean, large with everything you need. We felt like in a little piece of heaven! Kaya is a super cute village & the views are great! Last but not least... Clare! She's the loveliest person ever! She made us feel comfortable from the first time, even before meeting her in person she was always super reactive to our messages and she took the time to answer all our questions. I really do think that Clare's cheerfulness & kindness are one of the reasons why our stay was so unforgettable. She's the best host one could dream of.

Hello I am an Australian living in a small Turkish Village with my local husband and a couple of cats. We enjoy nature and history and we are lucky enough to own a property with a rich history and beauty that we can share with others. As locals we know all about the area for sightseeing, food, beaches etc We live nearby to our property and always available to say hi. Turkey is not just a country it is a lifestyle a cuisine a culture.... Enjoy!
