Many visitors to Ireland tour the BnB/pub circuit. Stay at Peaceful Cottage and tour locally. The local ancient place name is Mochara (mu-harra) meaning stony place. The fields and farms are girded with stone walls & Mochara Castle overlooks all.
This self catering cottage is in the rolling green hills of County Mayo, 18 miles from Galway and 25 miles from Westport. This is a secluded getaway for poets, writers and kindred spirits. There are bicycles in the shed and the paths of St. Patrick and ancient ways are nearby.
Please plan on a minimum of 3 days booking in order to cover costs of fuel oil and housekeeping. We will request an added charge of 12% for fuel costs unless the weather is fine and summer temperatures prevail.
The cottage has 2 comfortable bedrooms and 3 double beds, a cozy living/dining room with fireplace and TV/DVD.
The ancient castle ruins of Mochara (muharra) are very nearby and many historic castles, churches and ringfort mounds can be found in a 20 mile radius.
There are fine dining and good markets to be found in Ballinrobe and Headford, essential supplies can be had in Shrule. Lough Corrib and Ashford Castle and Cong Abbey are a few miles away, near Cong village.
