Descrizione

19th Century Schoolhouse converted to rustic cabin. Leave the tv and ipads behind. Enjoy the silence and epic starscapes. Take a sunset stroll up Blueberry Hill. Order fresh lobster from the neighbors and have a cook out on Jasper Beach.

The Schoolhouse comes fully packed with antique charms, including ornate tin ceilings, original schoolhouse chalkboard, as well as the more modern necessities, including hot water, washer/dryer, electric oven, and microwave. However, this is by all means a rustic cabin, cobwebs and mice and all. There is a bedroom upstairs, accessible by a pull-down ladder, as well as a futon mattress in the downstairs one room living/kitchen/dining room. The mattress may be pulled onto the floor for additional pop up sleeping arrangements.

The schoolhouse is available only in warmer months, as it is uninsulated and the wood stove is not available for guest use. Consider booking in May and October only if you are ok with chilly nights.

I am not present while guests are staying in the schoolhouse, but the next door neighbor checks guests in and out and is available for questions throughout your stay.

This is a quiet neighborhood, where all the neighbors know each other. You might even get a knock on the door welcoming you. Please be considerate to the neighbors and keep your volume at a reasonable level. Sound travels far in Halls Mills!

You must have a car or be an avid bicyclist to make it out here. There is room for no more than 2 cars in the parking spot. We may be able to arrange a shuttle service from Bangor Airport for an additional fee.

I had a fantastic couple of weeks at the schoolhouse on a solo retreat. Cozy and charming accommodation off the beaten track in an incredible part of the country. Gabby was a helpful, laid back host and good communicator. Everything was just as she described.

If you love a slightly rustic setting, somewhat remote but with a few houses nearby, you will love this place. And Gabby was wonderful to work with. Highly recommend!

We loved staying at Gabby's place! The place is set up with essential amenities--kitchen, laundry, radio--but with no wifi, which is great if you're looking to have a 'real' vacation. It's also perfectly situated for exploring Maine's beautiful coast. If you're craving some camaraderie, hop over to nearby Lubec for pizza and craft beer! Would definitely come back!

Historic and quiet mini community where schoolhouse is located. Friendly neighbors. Unique schoolhouse that is a good base for the many outdoor opportunities in the area. Attic bedroom had good air flow even with temps in the high 80's. A listen to the French radio station inside will set the mood. Beer and food at Lubec Brewing Company is a must.

The schoolhouse is just perfect for someone visiting the area, looking for authentic, rustic charm and a convenient launch point for all downeast adventures. So lovely to have a "home" to go back to, somewhere to cook dinner and enjoy the evening, after a day out and about. Very lucky to find this place and will be coming back as often as possible!

Gabby's cabin was lovely. You can't beat the location, the activities offered (a canoe, board games galore, a chalkboard, etc.), and the lovely vintage charm of the place. She was communicative, and the check-in/check-out process was very simple and easy. We would stay here again. Some of the appliances needed major updating, but we were able to manage.

Fabulous, secluded spot with great neighbors. I felt like I was visiting a close Maine friend, Down East style! Rustic, homey, and accommodating, with great proximity to the Bold Coast and Machias food shopping. Wonderful, helpful nieghbors as well. A great stay!
