Xamach Dos, the secluded jewel of the Sian Ka'n Nature Reserve, just south of Tulum, Mexico.
Perfect for the adventurous individual or group, we are located on our own hidden Caribbean Bay, with an unspoiled reef system,, miles of deserted beaches, an incredible array of tropical wildlife, even our own hidden Mayan ruins!
There are 6 cabanas to chose from, each with it's own bathroom, and each with its own individual personality.
The Treetop- an amazing experience, on the water's edge, yet hidden in the palm trees. 1 queen bed, deck overlooking the ocean, beautiful bath with tiled shower/tub.
Cabana Balam- another amazing experience- totally secluded in the jungle yet close to the water. Incredible stone and coral shower, 1 queen bed.
Cabana Sol- Relax on the large front porch, take in the ocean views surrounded by custom stone and coral decor. 2 queen beds, large stone and coral bathroom.
Caban Luna- very private, on the far side of the property, with a nice porch of it's own. 2 queen beds, bath and shower.
Casa Grande- 2 bedrooms, each opening to a private lanai, spacious living room, nice bath. 1 queen bed and 2 full beds,
queen bed and 2 full beds.
Casa Secreta- smal but cool, invisble to the rest of the place. Custom stone and conch shell shower, 1 queen bed.
We have a great little restaurant in the middle of the property, a great place to hang out, view the beach, play games, and enjoy some of the best food on the coast.
Did I say Xamach Dos was a great place for a wedding?

It's a great place, very secluded. If you are looking for a fancy setting, this is not for you, but if you are up to a no-frills, all-ocean-sun-sand vacation, don't wait any longer!

If you're wanting to experience Tulum in a whole new way and Mexico in general for that matter, then this is the place for you. For quiet seclusion amongst the jungles and white sand Caribbean beaches of Sian Ka'an, I found that my time here was very reflective, enjoyable, and comfortable. My cabana was hidden in the mangroves truly disguised and was perfect for me. I was traveling alone so this space was the optimal size and comfort level most fitting for me with easy access to the dining area centered in between all the rooms and steps away from the ocean water. My favorite part was my private hammock and "side yard" area which I was able to practice yoga on and lounge between the trees in the afternoons. The room itself is very private even though the walls are open as screens, it's hidden between trees so you don't and can't see inside. The room is equipped with basics and water but leave the irons and blow dryers behind as you can't use them and would anyway! The dining area is a great communal space where we share meals and although I prefer private seclusion, I also personally conduct retreats so I understand the value of having a space such as this where strangers end up becoming friends during their stay. I met so many wonderful people and that was the highlight of this trip. PROS Stargazing! Moon rising over the Caribbean! Sunrises over the Caribbean! Delicious Peruvian inspired Mexican meals all very affordable. Not one mosquito issue or bug bite! Snorkeling and kayaking 24/7 included! Wifi is hit or miss (yes that's on the pros list)! Enough beach that you can find a private spot even when it's a full hotel. White sand beach & aqua water CONS Eventually you have to go home! The ride to get here is challenging due to it not being paved... ride from Tulum city is about 45-60 minutes: definitely make sure you have a car, drivers are very expensive, a 4x4 would be perfect! I would recommend driving at night your first time visiting and plan to do your main activities outside of Sian Ka'an either before you arrive or after you leave, or maybe select one day to venture out and get it all done then lol! Location may seem a bit out of the way but Totally worth it and I personally prefer it that way. You are traveling to escape the hustle and bustle and be transported to a magical place- this is it!

Super chill place to spend a few days and unwind. The room was simple but comfortable and just as described. The food at the restaurant is tasty with a nice variety offered. The beach is lovely and the dogs were a bonus! The hosts can apparently arrange for a boat tour that will leave directly from the beach out front. I wish we would've known and planned for that ahead of time. It's worth getting out on the water and into the Sian kaan to enjoy the wildlife but the drive to Punta Allen isn't much fun.

Xamach Dos is magical-- the people and the place! Our cabana on the beach was nicely decorated and clean. The location is remote and away from the crowds. A great place to stay and relax. And the on-site hosts made amazing drinks and meals. Only wished we could've stayed longer. We will be back.

We had a truly relaxing time, we only had a week in Mexico & if we'd known how cool this place was we'd have stayed here the whole time. Not for everybody - it's isolated and rustic, and you have to be able to make your own nightlife. The beds were clean and soft and the food was amazing and the camaraderie was genuine. We'll come back! The road's potholed but not too bad if you're not in a hurry.

Staying at Cabana Balam was - big highlight of our trip. We were pretty bummed out about how overrun and awfully "eco-chic" Tulum was so were glad to pivot toward Sian Ka'an. It's a paradise I tell ya! The Xamach Dos crew are friendly and fun, the grounds are gorgeous, and it proved the perfect place to iron out nerves jangled by roadtripping from Merida. We are grateful for the experience. Oh, and if you can handle the bumpy road south from Xamach, we recommend driving about 20 minutes for an amazing sunset with views of the Caribe on one side and the Laguna on the other.

This place is amazing. VERY remote and quiet. An hour + (depending on road conditions and animal crossings) to get back up to Tulum. You feel like you're the only people for miles, and you ARE. They provide (and it's somewhat necessary and expected because of travel time) that you will purchase most of your meals there. The meals are generously proportioned and well made. The staff were very laid back and left you to your solitude as much as you wanted, but were friendly and helpful. Our cabana was well concealed and very private but close to the main palapa and kitchen. This place is probably not for you if you really like the hotel zones, lots of conveniences, swimming pools and shopping or are super worried about only a screen between you and the jungle. This place IS PERFECT for you if you want quiet, remote, serenity and clean but simple and comfortable accomodations. Water was hot but pressure was understandably a bit low. Internet was in and out, but worked well if the winds were not high. Beach was clean and cared for daily. This place strives to be ECO friendly, so we recommend that you come with preservation of all resources in mind. There is a small unnamed ruin directly across the street and miles of empty beaches to explore. We would live here if we could. Sincerely. We hope Mexico can manage to preserve this wild and beautiful place.
