Thank you for your interest in our Donner Lake home. This beautiful, comfortable Donner Lake lakefront 2 bedroom/1 bathroom is right on the water. This is the lake level quarters of a custom home. The living room and each bedroom as a view of the lake so you will wake up to a view of the lake and forested granite mountains. Walk down a flight of stairs and jump in the lake or cast out a line.
Access to our home is easy. There is enough room to park two vehicles in front of the house.
Walk down a pathway toward the lake to the entrance. There is a living room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a laundry room and a full bathroom. The rental is completely selfcontained. The kitchen has a stove/oven, a refrigerator, and a gas BBQ. The bath includes all the necessities. There is cable TV, a DVD player, a stereo and high-speed internet access.
Go down a flight of carpeted stairs to a carpeted (soft on your bare feet and great for laying out) private dock where you can moor a boat, a jetski, try your luck at fishing, swim, or simply relax.
Our home has 2 queen-sized beds and a sofa bed in the front room with linens and 6 towels included. It is perfect for a small family or a couple or two. The kitchen is supplied with pots, pans, and dishes.

There may or may not be a host living upstairs at the time of your stay. The host is quiet and we have never had any complaints. You may run into him on the dock or in the parking pad. He is a single male in his mid 50s who stays up there in the summer to relax and get away from the rush of the bay area. If you have any problems getting into the place just give the phone number a call or knock on the door and he will help you out.
Access is via a private sliding glass door. The code is given out when you reserve your stay.

We had a great time at Evan's place. The house is well maintained and cozy. Also Evan is great easy to work with and accommodating. Would definitely come back.
This cabin was cozy and just what we were after for a family weekend away. Although we had trouble with the lock on arrival Evan was easily contactable and sorted us out. The lakefront position is fantastic and the views incredible. We'd definitely stay here again.
This cabin was as described, with a dock right on Lake Donner, with spectacular views from the living room and both bedrooms. Sitting in bed looking out at the changing colors on the lake - really nice. Otherwise, you really know you're in a rental, minimal effort was made at making it attractive or homey. No welcome note, no checkout instructions except for some dire threats if we stayed past 10 am. The inside walls looked thrown-together. Evan was helpful when we asked where to find firewood - a pile of building scraps at the side of the house, but they worked just fine. The owners did provide great directions to the cabin, essential as it's tucked away. The lake is beautiful, and if you are immune to niceties, like just going up for a ski weekend, this place is great, roomy and basic.
Great location, amazing view. can't do better location-wise! The host, Evan, is a great guy and helpful.
The only issues we had were:
1- really early checkout (10am!) which is even worse on a Sunday morning!
2- mattresses were old spring mattresses that cause backache.
The cabin is in a great location, right on the water and the dock is perfect for laying out / jumping into the water. So much fun.
This is a fantastic property in a fantastic location. While we arrived at night and had a difficult time finding the unit, Evan was kind enough to make himself available, even at odd hours, to help us find the unit.
Our stay was brief, but very, very comfortable. You could not ask for a more perfect view, or dock. Should Evan be willing to have us, we are eagerly looking forward to our next stay!
Great place and host. Quiet cabin apartment on lake with private dock, beautiful view. We never met Evan or the person upstairs (don't think anyone was there then), but Evan called me the day before to make sure we didn't have questions. Instructions were very detailed and clear, for efficiency but also to avoid run-ins with various wild animals. We have never been to the area before, but we were sensible and followed his recommendations and had no problems whatsoever. Furniture and appliances are a bit dated, but hey, it's a cabin. Everything works as it should, beds were comfortable. Would definitely recommend and book again!
Really loved being so close to the lake. Beautiful views, warm, cozy and everything we needed!
Evan was great! Easy to communicate with and helpful late at night when I had an airhead moment with the door. I took three of my best friends there for a girls getaway weekend and it was fantastic! The place is very hard to find in the dead of night...it's very dark! However, the directions to get there make total sense in the daylight. The house was a little bit older, but was very clean and had all the supplies we needed. The wifi didn't work, but wasn't a big deal...I had perfect cell service if I really needed the Internet for anything. You just can't beat the private dock of this place; it's absolutely incredible. We spent the entire day laying out there and splashing around in the water, which was still a bit cold this time of year, so we didn't swim much. But we still jumped in for a quick cool down. It was extremely relaxing and I will definitely be back! We couldn't get the BBQ to light, but we just made it work in the kitchen. I'm sure Evan would have been able to help if I called, but we really aren't the best grill masters, so figured we'd be better off cooking in the kitchen anyway. Overall a really great experience and a fantastic lil place to get away and enjoy some time on the lake. I can't wait to go back!
The lakeshore house is a fantastic place to get away to if you want the feeling of staying at your grandma's house. The key word is shabby chic minus the chic. And because she's not into technology, don't count on wifi working. But that's okay because you're here to disconnect and you love your grandma right? Thumbs up on having hot water and a working heater.
Several issues we have:
(1) There is a musty smell throughout the rustic house. Paint is peeling off many of the walls, etc.
(2) The house is very hard to find in the dark; the directions given by the landlord are perplexing at best. When we had difficulty finding the secondary street off of the main road, both phone numbers provided went to voice mail and we did not receive a call back until the following morning. Luckily, we found the place after an hour of searching.
(3) The checkout time is an unrealistic 10am. There is a $100 fee for leaving late as informed by a voicemail from the landlord.
(4) Huge disappointment over the WiFi not working, especially where AT&T coverage is spotty. Resetting the router didn't work.
