Home “Marina Grande” is a charming apartment located in Marina Grande (Sorrento) along the seafront of the beach. This home is situated in a quiet area, in a typical ancient fishermen's Village, but at the same time close to the centre of Sorrento. Home “Marina Grande” is in an ancient building facing the ocean - which is less than 20 m away- but it has been just renewed and it is equipped with air-conditioning. On the west-side of Marina Grande (on the left when facing the ocean), one can find a nice small sandy beach where umbrellas, deckchairs and a bar are available and where kids can safely swim. Home “Marina Grande” is near a series of shops: a supermarket, a greengrocer’s, a confectioner’s, a butcher’s, some restaurants, etc. On reaching the “Marina Grande” Home by car, 500 away from of the apartment there are car parking spaces.
To reach the “Marina Grande” Home, one has to walk along an ancient narrow street, typical in our area during the XVIII and XIX centuries, and then pass through an ancient Greek Gate to reach Marina Grande where “Marina Grande” Home is located.
Otherwise, one can reach the apartment by following the carriage road which takes to Marina Grande.
“Marina Grande” Home lies on the third floor of an ancient building (without lift). It is three-roomed lodging of 75 m 2, sleeps 4+2, composed of: wide living-room with sofa-bed ( and TV) dining-table, kitchen with breakfast counter (fridge, oven, washing-machine), a double room with sea-view, a bathroom with shower, another double room, another bathroom with shower, a terrace lighted and equipped with table and chairs from where You can enjoy a stunning 180 °sea-view with Naples, Pozzuoli and Vesuvius.
But the magic moment, in that apartment, is certainly the sunset: when the sky becomes redder and redder and the sea in front of the flat becomes darker and darker.

Our ten days here were the highlight of our Italian visit. The fishing bay is a little community away from the bustle of Sorrento, yet close enough to allow us to take advantage of its amenities. When many of the residents resumed their fishing careers the first of November, most of the restaurants closed, including our favorite O'Puledrone (a fishermen's coop)
The washer's spin cycle hadn't worked for a while. There were six mismatched glasses to go with over 20 dinner plates. Bath mats would have made the two (showers) bathrooms safer.
The view from the balcony of this apartment is spectacular and far outweighed any small problems!! We loved spending our mornings and evenings sitting and watching the daily activities of this active fishing village. The location is very convenient to Sorrento and the surrounding areas. There are several local restuarants within walking distance and the two we tried were great. All of the information provided by Daniele and his staff was very helpful and we had no problems making connections when we arrived in Sorrento. The kitchen is adequately stocked. The bedrooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are fine. The church bells are immediately next to the apartment and are loud (they ring every 15 minutes except from midnight to 5 AM), however, by the end of our stay (7 days) we hardly noticed them. The linens (sheets and towels) provided were very clean. The showers had a little soap scum on the walls and some minor mildew/mold. The floors in the kitchen and living room were dirty (these are high traffic areas and hard to keep clean). We would definitely stay here again if we ever return to the area.
We enjoyed our stay at the Marina Grande apartment. There is a church next door, but we managed to sleep through the bells. The balcony was great to sit on and have our coffee in the morning and some wine at sunset. Daniele was waiting for us at our train and we followed his scooter in a taxi to the apartment (too many stairs with my roller bag). There are stairs up to the center of town, which we didn't mind, as we enjoyed being in the quieter section of town. There is a shuttle bus to the center if you don't care to walk up the stairs. The restaurant suggestions that Daniele gave us were excellent. Especially the pizza place that was past Tasso Square!
The location of the apartment was lovely, set in a quaint fishing village, amongst many locals and tourists. However, communication on our arrival was disappointing and we had a lot of trouble finding our agent. The accommodation itself was very spacious but needs a lot of repairs and maintenance. One toilet didn't flush, shower was not clean, no toaster, iron didn't work, minimal glasses and very shabby cooking utensils. We were next to a church with bells ringing every 15 minutes from 5am through to midnight! The apartment was 3 levels up with no lift making it difficult with luggage! The local rubbish collection was immediately below the apartment balcony with rancid smells wafting up each day to the balcony which wasn't pleasant. We did enjoy our stay in Sorrento but think that the apartment was well over priced for the standard of amenities.
Great apartment and location!!!! Highly recommend.
The apartment was really nice and spacious, with everything you need for a pleasant vacation. Perfect for two couples: there are two full-size bedrooms, two bathrooms, open-space kitchen and living room with direct access to the balcony. The balcony is big enough for 4 people to comfortably dine there, and the view is absolutely fantastic!
Daniele is a very good host, easy to reach and ready to help whenever you need it.
This apartment was easily the highlight of our trip to Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. We spent more time there and in Marina Grande than I would have ever imagined. It is a working fishing village, and it is so refreshing in an area otherwise nearly by mass tourism to watch their slow, quiet work being carried out from the balcony or the shore. There are two markets from which to shop, and also a handful of trattorias that are run by the fishermens families. More than enough room for a group of 5 which was made even easier by the 2 full bathrooms. Kitchen is adequately stocked with pots and pans and the area is well-known for it's production of oil and aromatic spices, which makes for a nice side trip through town to collect. Everything worked great and everything was arranged very efficiently. We are already trying to figure out a way to go back.
We absolutely LOVED our stay at Marina Grande. The location is beautiful and the views of Mt. Vesuvius are amazing. Staying in a small fishing community made us feel less like tourists. We went to mass at the church next door, saw a Holy Week procession with band and liked hearing the bells ring out the time. Having a friendly and very reasonable grocery store down the way was great. Two doors down from the apartment was a fabulous restaurant called Trattoria di Emilia. We ate there three times. We watched the women meet the fishing boat each day and carry the fresh fish back to the restaurant, so we new the fish was fresh. It was SO delicious. Daniele was very helpful and punctual. We told him that the kitchen needed more cooking utensils and new cooking pots and he was very understanding. The washing machine worked well. Ernesto met us at the train station and walked us to the apartment. Sorrento is a wonderful town. If you stay at this apartment you need to be able to climb stairs to get into the main part of town. Our whole family had a once in a lifetime experience. We were all sad to leave. Hopefully we can return someday.
This is a fantastic apt. The balcony and view were breathtaking!
The apt. was very clean and very comfortable. And I was happy to not be in the bustle of Sorrento but still only a 10 min. walk away. And Emilio's restaurant practically next door is fantastic food and very reasonable prices.
It is also next door to the church so you must be open to the sound of bells.
All in all we had a very enjoyable stay at the Marina Grande Apartment. It is very well located near the city center, the only issue being a short (and scenic) climb up to get there. There are restaurants and stores next to the apartment and the views from the balcony are fabulous.
