Our 19th century stone cottage has bags of warmth and character, original features such as slate floors, stone walls and a large open fireplace. It is located in a quiet rural spot with a large garden and yet close to both Killarney town and Dingle.

Wild Cherry Cottage must be one of the best preserved and beautifully presented traditional stone cottages in the whole of Kerry. It has a large garden and views of the Magillicuddy Reeks mountains, as well as being no more than a 15 minute drive to the sea. Proximity to Killarney, The National Park and the 'Ring of Kerry' (25 mins) + Dingle & the 'Slea Head Drive' (35 mins) ensures a convenient base from which to explore the many scenic and beautiful locations that County Kerry can boast.

Guests can make use of the whole cottage and grounds, including the large garden and woods.

We like to welcome our guests when they arrive and usually wish them well prior to leaving but any other contact is usually only at the behest of the guests themselves (eg. if they want to know something or need help or advice).

The neighborhood is rural and peaceful with just a few local farms nearby. Views of the Slieve Mish mountains behind and the Magillicuddy Reeks mountains in front are possible from the garden. There is ample parking space for up to 5 cars. The local town, Castlemaine, is no more than a 5 minute drive away and grocery provisions can be bought there.

Local bus services run into and through Castlemaine and the nearest train station connecting Kerry to Dublin is about a 20 minute drive away. Kerry airport (Ryanair flights from London & Frankfurt) is also no more than 25 mins away. Cycles can be hired in Killarney or Dingle Town.

Dogs are allowed but we charge an extra 30 euros per dog per stay to cover the additional cost of cleaning. We ask that dogs are not allowed in any of the bedrooms or on the furniture.

We like to think that all guests will appreciate the care and attention that has gone into creating this wonderful traditional cottage atmosphere and will behave accordingly, taking account of the neighbours and care of the property itself . We ask that guests do not smoke inside the cottage and that muddy shoes/boots are taken off on entering the cottage.

PLEASE NOTE that the heating oil that you choose to use is metered and charged for on a 'non-profit' basis (what it costs us, in other words). We ask that you settle up with us prior to departure. An average usage is about 5-6 euros per day (based on 3 hrs heating per day) but you are in complete control of how much you decide to use.

If you want a unique living experience in a 200 year old, renovated, solid rock cottage, with a real wood burning stove for heat along with an oil burning furnace/radiator; if you want peace and quiet, with only an occasional dog bark and cow mooing; if you want attentive owners who really care about your experience, if you like the most comfortable beds; and if you want to explore the Dingle and surrounding western Ireland, then the Wild Cherry Cottage is for you.

What a fantastic Airbnb experience. This cottage certainly has the wow factor, and was the perfect venue for a recent family weekend away in Kerry. The cottage is in striking distance of many Kerry tourist spots, which we explored but we found that we didn't want to stray far from the relaxing surroundings of the cottage. As a host, Nick had the perfect level of communication in the lead up to our stay, which made the whole process very easy. The cottage was spotless and really well equipped with everything we could need or want. And super bonus points to Nick when on the morning we checked out, one of our cars had a dead battery. Nick was able to jump start the car and get us on the road again. Thank you again! All recommendations for this cottage & host!

Thank you, Joan & Friends! Good to be of service and really glad you enjoyed the lovely surroundings of this lovely traditional cottage. Six months of cottage renovation sweat makes it all worthwhile when getting heartfelt reviews such as yours. Thanks!

This cottage is stunning! We loved every minute of our stay and spent every evening in front of the fire enjoying the cottage. Nick was a great host who sent incredibly detailed directions and instructions. Nick made check in and check out so flexible it barely interfered with our trip at all. Next time I travel to kerry I would definitely book this cottage again.

Married to Anne and with a large number of children (most have now grown up, thankfully). Interested in landscaping, renovation and small scale vegetable growing and animal husbandry. We love walking and discovering new and out of the way places here on the majestic Dingle Peninsula.
