Come stay in my sunny apartment in the heart of the Willy St neighborhood.
The bedroom has a comfy queen sized bed and an open closet for clothes. I provide fresh bed linens for each visit and have extra pillows and blankets available.
The living room has a futon couch and lounge chairs for reading or watching movies. For guests traveling with more than two, fold down the couch futon in the living room to gain another queen sized bed. I have Apple TV for the television which you can use to browse the web or download movies through your ITunes account. There is also Netflix available for you to use for streaming movies. Not into TV? Hook up your computer or IPod to the sound system and enjoy some music. The living room also has a desk and printer for the working traveler.
The kitchen has any cookware you might need if you plan on cooking at home during your stay. Enjoy breakfast at the little cafe table in the morning with tea or coffee. I have a French press and espresso maker as well as coffee grounds you can help yourself to. The kitchen also has dry bulk goods and fresh produce you can use.
The bathroom has a shower with a waterfall shower head. There is a big tub and eucalyptus bath salts for those who enjoy a nice bath. I stock the bathroom with fresh towels and Pangea products so you will have any bathroom toiletries you may need. Extra towels, shampoo, shower gel, lotion, razors or toilet paper can be found in the hall closet.
The apartment is located adjacent to the Williamson (website hidden)-op (voted best grocery store in town by The Isthmus newspaper). Walk over and enjoy their juice bar and fresh deli that offers many gluten free options. Stroll in either direction down Williamson St. to find a wonderful variety of local coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, bars, thrift stores, bike rentals and community hangouts. It's just a 10 minute walk to the capitol, Lake Monona and down town. Two major bus lines run through the neighborhood that will connect you to any other part of the Madison area you are looking to explore.
Some of my favorite nearby places.
*The Weary Traveler: Great local, organic food all day, until 1am. Live music, BLoody Mary's.
*Madison Soughdough: Amazing breakfasts, lunch, coffee, pastries
*Mother Fools Coffee House: Good coffee, atmosphere, and they're open late with lots of vegan options.
*BB Clarke Beach: Fun place to go swimming, or just hang out in the park with views of downtown madison and Lake Monona.

My husband and I booked James' apartment somewhat last-minute for 1 night while we were on our honeymoon. When we arrived at the apartment James was not there, but after half an hour he returned our call and apologized for mixing up the day we were arriving. He offered us a discount on the night, which we were happy with, so we agreed to meet at the apartment 1 hour later and headed to the bar down the street. After this initial mix-up we found James was very friendly and helped us with directions around town. The apartment itself was a bit more like student housing than I had gathered from the pictures, but it was clean and the location was good. I didn't find the bed to be terribly comfortable but I suppose that is a personal thing and others might disagree. Overall we had a good time in Madison.
Wonderful location if you are looking for a downtown Madison experience. Arrival and departure was not complicated. The apartment took me back to my college days apartment old wooden floors, ancient plumbing and heating and a sense of community. We would stay again.
Great central location near to good eats and downtown attractions. Host James was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Apartment was very comfortable and clean. Very spacious for the price. Our only complaint was the bar across the street was very loud late into the night - we would stay here again, but we would bring earplugs next time!
James' place is a such a gem! We really enjoyed our week's stay at his apartment. There was plenty of room for my husband, 2 year old daughter, and myself. The location is absolutely perfect! This was my first Airbnb rental and only hope future spots are as nice as this one.
Great apartment in a great location. I used the membership to the Coop and rode the Madison Bikes into downtown everyday (as long as it wasn't raining). This was a great experience with a neighborhood that has a lot to offer. James was a great host and addressed my concerns when I was locked out of the apartment due to a faulty locking mechanism. James also took the time to share his stories and listen to some of mine. Great experience overall, would definitely go back next time I'm in Madison.
This apartment was great and in a really good neighborhood. I'd stay here again as well as recommend it to friends!
We really enjoyed our stay at the "Entire Apartment Near Everything". It's in a great part of town, and we loved the accessibility to nice parks, restaurants, and the awesome co-op right next door. James was easy to communicate with, and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We appreciated all the extra touches to make our stay comfortable.
James was awesome. He was waiting for me when I arrived, showed me everything I need to know about the apartment and surrounding community. He gave great recommendations on where to eat and what to see. I would definitely stay there again.
We had an awesome stay at James's place! The location couldn't have been better for us. We were in town for work and were close to everything we needed to do. It was a bit larger than I was expecting and we found it super clean. We had 3 gals staying there for the first night and brought our own air mattress which we set up in addition to the futon and the main bed. The rest of the time we had two which was very comfortable in that space. James paid attention to the little details and there was soap and shampoo which was a bonus for me.
The only negative was that we found there to be a fair amount of street noise and the apt is right under (or across from) a bar. So folks getting out we found were rather boisterous. That was an issue for us since we had long work days and really only used the apartment for sleeping. I also found the AC in the kitchen, which we turned on to attempt to drown out the street noise, had a funny noise itself and didn't seem especially effective.
Despite the noise and kitchen AC, it was really a delightful stay and I'd totally recommend it and would be happy to stay there again.
Overall this is a very nice place in a great part of town. Lots of nearby restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc. and it's easy to walk, bike or drive to downtown. It is an older building so if you're staying when it's particularly warm or cold outside just be prepared (it was hotter than usual the first couple days I was here and the apartment did get a bit warm in the afternoon). Other than though, really no problems and James was very helpful in providing some recommendations for things to do, places to eat, etc.
