In the middle of this incredible landscape lies the Casa del Teide, built in the 1960s and recently renovated. The house is fully equipped for a comfortable stay.
The Casa del Teide has three rooms and sleeps up to ten people. It also has a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom, and a large living room with a fireplace by which one can spend a winter’s night in the warmth of the fire. The house is in the middle of a private, open area.
The key location of the Casa del Teide makes for a place from which nature lovers, hikers, climbers, cyclists, and athletes can base themselves.
Adventure, rest, contemplation…all can be found in the Casa del Teide.
Since Teide National Park does not allow for an electricity connection, the house makes use of a private generator. The park also lacks a water supply network, but the house has tanks that give visitors water access throughout the year. We ask our visitors to be aware of the difficulty of transporting water to the top of a mountain and help us consume water responsibly.
Teide National Park is a must-see for all visitors to Tenerife. It is the largest and oldest national park in the Canary Islands and is home to Spain’s highest peak, Mount Teide—one of the Twelve Treasures of Spain and a true wonder of the world. In 1989 the Council of Europe awarded it the European Diploma of Protected Areas, and in 2007 UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site. Teide National Park offers a unique landscape of craters, volcanoes, and lava flows that all surround the majestic Mount Teide, standing at a height of 3718 meters, in the center of the 190 square kilometer park.
The park’s wild landscape and harmonious colors are sure to impress all who lay eyes on it, for there is nothing else like it on earth. Rivers of petrified lava stand out against rocks and minerals of contrasting colors. In spring, volcanic tones mingle with flowers and sweet aromas. And during the entire year, the park shelters a stunning diversity of invertebrate species and indigenous plants.
Un giro nei dintorni
Las Cañadas del Teide have a range of hiking paths varying in length and difficulty, which all diverge off of two main routes. The paths are well indicated on signs located at the start and end of the paths, and well marked along the way.
From the Casa del Teide, visitors have direct access to most of the routes on foot, with no need for a car.
Altre cose da evidenziare
Lovers of rock climbing will find a number of different areas to enjoy great natural rock formations in a one-of-a-kind setting. Los Roques de Garcia and El Capricho are two great options, located very close to the Parador Nacional and the Ruta de Siete Cañadas. Here, climbers can experience both rock and ice climbing, depending on the time of year and the climbers’ experience. Visitors can also access these areas via a two-hour walking route.
For many years, elite athletes of international renown have chosen this location to prepare for the extreme conditions of upcoming competitions. Since the altitude makes for a low level of atmospheric oxygen, high-level athletes adapt by practicing in these conditions, increasing their red blood cell count and thus training their body to circulate oxygen much faster.
Teide National Park has a great number of open spaces at 2000 meters altitude, a fact which has made Teide the model for sports training in all of Europe.
Teide National Park is one of the best spots in the world for stargazing. The observatory of the IAC (Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias), located in the Izaña area, supports the research of a number of renowned astrophysicists. After sunset, the night unfurls to reveal a field of stars, a stunning sight that connects man with the earth and the universe.
The Casa del Teide offers telescopes for visitors to discover the joys of stargazing.
REST AND RELAXATION
Teide National Park is the perfect place for rest and relaxation, where one can take the time to discover oneself and the surrounding environment. Clean air and a primitive volcanic landscape create an energy that transports visitors to another world. A vacation here is the perfect way to soothe away your day-to-day concerns. Spend a night in the park and discover a true, absolute silence.
