Much-loved family home sleeping up to 10 but good for smaller parties. Fabulous views, set in forested hills of Massif des Maures - St Tropez and coast easily accessible, or stay in peaceful seclusion. 2015 £ prices reduced to reflect lower euro :-)
This charming, five bedroom house with a large pool, is nestled in the hills between the stunning villages of Grimaud and La Garde Freinet.
There are five bedrooms and it is the ideal getaway for people looking for a secluded holiday while being just a short drive from fantastic restaurants, beaches and the buzz of St. Tropez. The rolling hills provide the perfect backdrop for rest and relaxation or idyllic walks. Quaint villages are a stone’s throw away and so you can chose between heading down to the popular haunts of the international glitterati or joining some locals for a game of boules and a pastis.
The upstairs Master Suite looks out past the swimming pool to stunning views across the rolling green hills. It is en-suite with a shower and large bath tub.
Two spacious en-suite double rooms open onto the internal courtyard. One is decorated in the local Provencal style and the other with enchanting Malaysian touches. Both bathrooms have showers and are finished with the lovely glazed Provencal tiles made in nearby Salernes.
There are two twin bedrooms inside the house - the Argentine and Jamaican Rooms. They share a pretty, tiled, shower room.
The spacious living and dining area has great views across the hillside. There is a flat screen TV with many channels, a stereo with I-Pod connection and a large collection of cds - jazz, swing and classical in the main, as well as plenty of books and games. The indoor dining table can seat up to ten people.
The fully equipped kitchen leads to an outdoor dining area with room for up to fourteen people. There is table and glassware for up to twenty people.
The large pool (14 x 6 m) is ideal for sunbathing around and also has naturally shaded areas for those who prefer to stay out of the sun. There is a second outdoor dining table ideal for relaxed lunches of up to eight people.
The pantry is home to a second fridge, the deep freeze and washer and dryer. One weekly cleaning is included and more can be arranged on request. The owner can arrange for a live-in cook or nanny if needed who can be accommodated.
The house is a ten minute drive which winds up from the village of Grimaud through the spectacular forested hills. The last section is unpaved.
Distances: Grimaud 2.5 miles, St Tropez 10 miles, nearest beach 6 miles, Cogolin 4 miles, La Garde Freinet 9 miles, Gassin 11 miles, Ramatuelle 11 miles.
Please respect the house as you would your own, it is a much loved family home
The wood-burning oven cannot be used during the summer months because of the fire hazard (this is a law of the commune, not just a request)
We stayed at Carolyn's house outside Grimaud for 7 days. It was a very beautiful house equipped with all possible amenities. It looked exactly like the pictures and we had a marvelous time! Very neat, swift and friendly communication since the first contact and on-wards. We would gladly book this house again (however with a bigger rental car since the final kilometer leading up to the house is a small gravelled road).
This house FAR exceeded our expectations, which were high to begin with. It is beautifully situated in the hills above St Tropez surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. We were particularly struck by the feeling of isolation, no other houses were in sight, a rare experience in this part of the world! The house is very tastefully decorated and fully functional - we wanted for nothing. The pool was glorious and the walks around the property and surrounding area were breathtaking.
Needless to say we are already planning a second trip for next year...
I'm a wife and mother of 4 adult children. With my husband I live Singapore at the moment (which we are loving) and the family are spread across the world from Australia to the UK. My own favourite destination ... I've always appreciated everything France has to offer and this has to be top of the list, but for a short time I have southeast Asia on my doorstep and a great variety of exciting places to visit.
As a host I hope to make arriving at a new house as easy as possible, I know how frustrating the first 24 hours can be when you can't find things you need, and I would also hope to make it as comfortable as possible a place to stay, so that being a guest is a relaxing, stress-free experience.
