We stayed for four nights. Communication with Kenneth in the weeks leading up to our stay was very good. While we were there, we mostly communicated with his father, Enrique. Enrique was AMAZING - friendly, kind, helpful. The rooms are clean and basic. Others have given an accurate description. The a/c is either full blast or its off - we were able to work around that. The location was great for us and totally suited our needs. We would stay with them again.
Where do I even begin? This is one of the worst travel experiences I have ever had. First of all, we arrive to the "guest house" where we are greeted by Kenneth's father in the restaurant downstairs, and he takes us to the room and leaves us with a key, hardly speaking to us at all. It felt creepy and my friend and I were unsure how safe we were there. The room was DISGUSTING. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a year, there was hair all over the floor from some previous person, and there was food, dust, and hair on the chair between the beds. There were no drawers or any counters in the room whatsoever. The sheets and towels were old and stained, and the mattresses were old and incredibly stiff and uncomfortable. The room had tons of mosquitos because the door had been left open throughout the day. The attached bathroom was also dirty, and the soap bars either looked old or taken from a real hotel. They had only left like 1/3 roll of toilet paper, with no extra ones. I texted Kenneth the next morning to get more toilet paper, and he told me to get it myself!! I had to find an unmarked closet (without a door handle, mind you, so I had to open the door from the bottom), and get toilet paper there. No one was there in the restaurant ever, I doubt they even had a chef. It, along with its bar, looked almost abandoned, and we only saw Kenneth's dad there twice, watching TV in the corner. We *think* that we saw Kenneth there our second evening, but he didn't even make the effort to introduce himself to us. My friend and I kept joking that the place was haunted, and reassuring ourselves that we only had two nights to stay there. My friend managed to avoid taking a shower because she was so grossed out (I caved and took one shower). We didn't see other travelers, but we did hear someone coughing in another room. I'm not sure how they are making any money from this establishment... and we wondered if it's a front for a drug operation or something. There was just absolutely no hospitality on their part whatsoever. The only plus to this place is that it's less than a 10-minute walk to the Seven Seas beach in Fajardo. I suppose another plus could be hot water and good shower pressure. That's it.
Kenneth was great and Perfect stop before catching an early ferry to the islands. The rooms are very basic but clean as others have covered so I wouldn't plan on spending an evening in, but for a great price and location on your way to the islands I would definitely recommend it. The place operates more like a hotel than a bnb, which was perfect for us as we got in late and left early (in high season you need to be at the ferry by 6am or earlier) so we wouldn't have wanted to disturb anyone else. We did get a chance to meet the host and he is a great guy. Speaks perfect English and when we asked him about calling a taxi to the ferry in the morning he offered to wake up at 530 to give us a ride. He also let us leave some stuff at his place while we spent a few days on the islands. Basically this place is perfect for what it is, a place to stay in a great location near the reserve and the ferry for people who are going to be out of your room most of the time anyway.
It was a nice cozy room with two full beds in a guest house (the only other furniture are two chairs). There are about 10 rooms in total from my rough guess. Reasonably clean and convenient for the price you pay. A little tricky to locate. Look for a Mexico restaurant and the guest house is on the second floor of the same building the restaurant is in. We didn't get to meat Kenneth in person but he gave enough information for a smooth arrival. Great communicator.
We enjoyed staying with with Kenneth for the two nights we were in Fajardo (My first AirBnB stay and first time in Puerto Rico). The location was walking distance to the beach where we did the Bio Bay Kayaking. The A/C made a loud and comforting sound but did not have a thermostat and worked so well we had to unplug it when the room got too cold, that is when we heard the roosters (take earplugs if you are a light sleeper). I liked the place, Kenneth was very upfront and honest and would offer any help we needed. The key was in the door for us on our late arrival. The water went out on our last day and he told us we could stay until it came back on which was all we could ask. If you will be in the area and need a place to stay I would not hesitate to give this place a try. I considered going back on the last day of my trip but we ended up staying in an Juan.
