This cosy cottage forms part of a traditional village family home in a spacious garden with wonderful views. Log burning fire in open plan kitchen with comfy sofas and tv. Situated on a quiet country lane in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, Hope Cottage is quaint 2 bedroom guesthouse with a country-chic feel. Hope Cottage is set within the boundaries of my own property – known as Crink House – and you would have the entirety of Hope Cottage to yourself.
The property is a 2 bedroom house (sleeps up to 4 people). On the ground floor is the second bedroom, with two twin beds, a bathroom with WC and shower, the open-plan kitchen-living-dining room with a wood-burning fireplace and private patio. Up the stairs allows you to walk straight into the master bedroom, which has an ensuite with a bath and WC as well as the little den.
I have decorated Hope Cottage with as much care as my own home; with crispy linen sheets and huggable towels, scrumptious Aesop and L’Occitane bath products, a cosy living room and of course plenty of wine glasses! In summer, you can sit out on the candle-lit patio (with privacy thanks to the surrounding hedge) or come winter, you can curl up under a blanket on the sofa with the wood-burning fire place on the go – perfect for warming cold toes after a bracing walk.
There is plenty of room in our driveway to park a car or two and there are some fantastic country walks to be had in and around the local area. Even jumping over the back fence of the property will provide you with a beautiful walk amongst fields of wheat and corn and down to the gentle stream two fields down, or up towards the nearby reservoir. We are so lucky in that we have wonderful views across the countryside as we are up on Crink Hill. The nearby River Ouse meanders through the countryside towards us at Barcombe Mills, a popular place with locals in the summer, where you can rent rowing boats at the popular Anchor Inn pub. Towards the South are the famous South Downs and Lewes (10 mins drive), a wonderful town further down the River Ouse, which is full of great coffee shops and restaurants, wonderful antique stores and of course, the local Harvey’s brewery.
We have dog – Bob he is a cocker spaniel – who you may see pottering around from time to time.
