Hi! We've a cozy craftsman city home with a simple guest room that has a queen bed. Bath is shared. Dogs are loved. Chickens are in the backyard. Very near downtown/UofR/MCC/Highland Hospital. Many restaurants just around the corner.
A quaint and cozy room in the upstairs of a two-story home in a safe, central city neighborhood. Queen-size bed, soft, yet supportive! Great morning light. A little desk to use for drawer space and catching up on letters. A closet, too, for hanging clothes and storing suitcases. If you need a ride from the airport and our schedules coordinate, $10 (would be $20 if by cab); or from the train/bus station, $5.
Kitchen is user friendly. Space can be provided in the refrigerator for the basic essentials. While we don't cook a separate breakfast for guests, we do have some basic breakfast things available: tea, coffee, fresh eggs, oatmeal, fruit, milk, non-dairy 'milk' is usually available, too. If you are planning to cook a more complicated meal, do coordinate times with the hostess. In warm weather, the front porch is a great place to lounge and have your meal. The dining room adjacent to the kitchen is also available. The resident hostess works from home and her desk is downstairs in the living room. We ask not to congregate in the there during the hours she is working. No smoking anywhere on property.
Interazione con gli ospiti
Each guest has their own private room. There is one other AirBnB guest room in the home. The bathroom is shared with all in the household. The hostess sometimes dog-sits, so there may be more than one dog in the home. They remain downstairs with me during the day and are not allowed upstairs where the guest rooms are. Great care is taken to keep a calm and clean inside environment. The hens in the back yard can start clucking with break of day, which can be heard from the open windows of the guest rooms. No cockadoodoodling rosters, though, rest assured! I recently adopted a kitty (in january 2016)...cute as a button! In general, the kitty, as with the dogs, is not allowed in the guest rooms, unless she wanders in with permission of the guests. She's very much a sweety, too!
Altre cose da evidenziare
Guest dogs are very welcome as long as they are friendly and well behaved (i.e., won't destroy anything and are housetrained). I ask that dogs are never left unattended in the house or in the guest rooms, unless crated. I have several sizes of dog crates available for when you need to leave your dog. I can also dog sit while you are out during the day for a small fee ($8 half day (less than 4 hours); $15 full day). This includes a couple of walks, backyard time and hanging out with me and my guest pups while I work. Please don't hesitate to ask questions or run through scenarios with me about your stay here with your pup. Please do not allow pups up on the bed, unless you put down an extra sheet, which i can provide. Trying to get pet hair out of the blankets and comforters is often arduous.
be excellent to each other.
please read the House Manual before your stay.
please no smoking anywhere on the property.
where to begin?! i am an ex-academic with a passion for urban agriculture and teaching youth about environmental exposures and sustainability. i love animals and nature and fixing things and watching things communicate. ...oh, and surreptitiously picking flowers from neighbors' yards i pass on my dog walks. ;-)
