Come enjoy our large studio apartment in San Francisco's charming and convenient Bernal Heights neighborhood! You're sure to enjoy having your own cozy and private apartment with a romantic gas fireplace, wood and stone floors and artistic decor.
Once a corner store the apartment has been tastefully remodeled to make it a very comfortable living space. It consists of one very large room plus an attractive bathroom and a closet. There are separate areas for sleeping, dining, cooking, working and relaxing. The kitchenette has a fridge, two burners, a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and filtered water on tap, as well as all the kitchenware and tableware you may need. The bed has a very comfortable new queen size mattress. It's quite romantic, but you can also sleep an additional two people on the comfortable fold down sofa. You'll have the use of wireless DSL internet and widescreen dish TV with blu ray. The apartment is completely separate from our living space so you'll have it all to yourself. It has a grand and gracious yet completely comfy feel.
We like to host visitors and we'll be happy to give you information and tips on request. You'll love our neighborhood where you'll find some of the city's sunniest weather, best affordable restaurants, great views and easy parking. Street parking is safe and generally available either right outside or on the block. The house is on a quiet residential street two blocks from Bernal Hill Park, which has spectacular views of the city and The Bay. Our electricity comes from solar panels on the roof!
Everything you need is a short walk away on Cortland Street including quality interesting and affordable restaurants, cafes, bars, groceries, shops, services, two bakeries, a bookstore, a library, even an art gallery! There's also a farmer's market nearby on Saturdays, and two lovely parks. We love our neighborhood which is so friendly and livable!
Transportation to Downtown (about 3 miles to Civic Center) or any of the San Francisco attractions is easy with frequent buses. Two minutes from the front door you can catch a MUNI bus to the nearby BART (underground) station. Or take a walk over Bernal Hill to BART and the Mission District and see some amazing views of the city and the Bay. Freeway access is nearby and easy.
It's a private apartment with a private entrance. It's all yours!
We're available as needed, but we wait to be asked after our initial meeting.
Interesting, safe, convenient, beautiful, quiet. The best place to live in SF!
You'll be within a block of two bus lines. There's plenty of free parking where we are.
Hosting on airbnb allows us to spend more time doing our art and music. We are happy to share this space that has been so enjoyable for so many people from all over the world!
Please follow our house rules:
No smoking inside the apartment.
No candles or open flames.
No loud music or partying, especially after 10:30 PM
Be gentle with the wood furniture and softwood floors. Always use coasters for hot drinks. Definitely no spikey high heels inside. Shoes off at the door is coziest!
If you've had the heat up (gas fireplace) please turn it down when you go out..
Clean up in the kitchen if you use it.
Books, art, dvd's, cassettes, tableware, etc. are not to be removed.
Gas fireplace is really warm and cozy. Widescreen tv with Dish and Blu-ray. Great workstation too!
We had a very pleasant stay at Mike and Nic's. We arrived late at night and we found everything to feel immediately comfortable. The most important things to us are quietness and cleanliness and we've been completely satisfied. I repeat, it was VERY CLEAN AND VERY QUIET, not a single noise, not a single speck of dust. They contacted us the first morning to be sure that everything was fine.
The neighborhood, Bernal Heights, is lovely, very green, it was a pleasure to walk on every side of the hill. People are nice, many coffee shops, restaurants and everything-you-need nearby.
The apartment fit our needs as a family of three spending a week in the Bay Area. We used it as a base, leaving fairly early each morning and returning at night. Mike and Nic were pleasant, friendly and helpful. We borrowed a friend's car and always found a parking space on the street. The neighborhood is a little farther out, but is fairly close to the Mission, where our friends live, so that was convenient. There are some good cafes a short walk away. The area is safe, clean, quiet. Loved the panoramic views from Bernal Heights --a short walk or drive away.
We had an excellent stay with Nic and Mike. This apartment was larger than the pictures make it appear and was very open and spacious. For the price it was better than any hotel suite in the area. We slept 4 adults easily in this large space and were very comfortable here. Our hosts were very flexible on our arrival time and willing to meet us anytime after the previous guest had left. Nic met us and showed us around the apartment. There were many resources on the desk to help with food and attractions. The bathroom was beautiful and well layed out for the small space. The kitchenette was well stocked with small necessities like tea/coffee/salt/pepper and helped save on meals if you grab groceries from either the near by grocery on Cortland or the Safeway on Mission St. Cortlad and Mission had many food options for dining out. I would park at the apartment and walk to Cortland or Mission as parking is limited/pay. The wifi was good but not great (two wired teens take a lot of bandwidth). We were able to sight see all over SF quickly from this location with easy access to the 280 and 101. We even got downtown without issue with the SF Marithon in town. The neighborhood is definitely hilly (google maps does not do the hills justice). The view from Bernal Heights was beautiful and worth the quick hike up the hill. All in all an excellent place to stay and nice hosts. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
Great place to stay! Out of the hustle and bustle of the city but can be anywhere within an hour by bus. There are 2 bus stops within 2 minutes of walking. Mostly quiet neighborhood. There is no A/C but that was not a problem with the window fan Mike provided. Evenings and nights get pretty chilly. Bathroom is a little small and the shower is a bit cramped. Trash days can be a little loud as well with the trucks. Bed was comfortable and the place was clean. Overall a great place and experience.
My stay here was an overall pleasant experience. Mike and Nic have a lovely and spacious home that is in a nice location. It is near the Mission area which has a lot of restaurants and bars. Hosts were a little inflexible with check out times, but we're otherwise good; although there was minimal contact with them, which may be good or bad depending on what you desire. Also, the whole studio is yours so there is definitely privacy.
It was a great experience! We love the location! It is literally a 1 minute Walk to one of the best views in the city. The space was great for what we were needing and they accommodated us so quickly. We honestly have no complaints and will definitely be staying here again when visiting San Francisco!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming apartment. It was in a cool location, within walking distance of lots of fun restaurants. I loved the décor, and it was very comfortable. Would definitely recommend it.
