Activities
They say the best part of camping is sitting around the campfire at night; Wide open skies above you, the sound of coyotes howling in the distance. That stuff is real, not just fiction made up in spaghetti westerns, and that's why we have built a communal fire pit. Come on down and bring your harmonica, ukulele, guitar, djembe, or dobro!

If staying up late and burning the midnight oil around the fire isn't your thing there are numerous other activities on the ranch to partake in. We have a horseshoe pit, numerous hiking and mountain bike trails nearby, and you can also take a tour of the ranch and learn a little bit about where our nation's food really comes from.

Accesso ospiti

We have over 250 acres of land surrounded by thousands of acres of public land that is open to explore! You have access to Heart Mountain for day hikes, elevation at the top 8,200 feet. The views are worth the effort. Horse Rides Available.

Big Quiet Camping is the perfect context to kick back and enjoy the Bighorn Basin. While you're taking in the sites, take the time to chat with Rod about the evolution of the area and his experience farming the land organically (as well as his other exploits in Wyoming and beyond) - you won't regret the stay or the company.

Big Quiet Camping was an amazing find. I decided to try something different and came across Rod & Lynn's site on Airbnb. I spent the night in the wall tent with cowboy breakfast. Their place is in a beautiful area, just outside of Cody with wonderful views of mountains and the ever changing sky. The tent was very comfortable and very cozy. It even rained and nothing leaked and I slept like a baby to wake up to pancakes! Perfect. I would return for a longer time - one night is too short and there is a lot to do. Hiking and horseback riding I missed out on. Maybe next time. And my dog was in heaven.

Linnea - We couldn't agree more. One night at Big Quiet Camping is too short - next time plan to stay longer to hike, explore and horseback ride. Thanks for your gracious review.

AMAZING! I'm relocating and with hotel prices in Wyoming, we decided to air BNB it & I would give Rod's place 5 stars! The cots, although I wasn't expecting much comfort, they were so comfy! Sleeping bag was great! Showering in a teepee was an adventure too! Super hot water! Rod's sausage was to die for and coffee was perfect for a long day's drive to Yellowstone. He even gave us a map & told us the route to get there. Such a cool "cowboy" experience. We really enjoyed the company and the other campers who were there while we were. Sunset views, animals, hammocks to relax in & sleeping in a teepee. What more could you ask for!

Natalya and I had decided to make an impromptu trip across the U.S to visit Yellowstone. We came across Rod’s listing on Airbnb and booked it… this was our first experience using Airbnb and we couldn’t be more pleased. As a first-time camper, this was an incredible experience…the camp area was clean, well maintained and the view was breathtaking! As for the hosts, what can I say? Simply AMAZING! Rod and Lynn were most gracious, hospitable, and made us feel right at home. We met so many interesting people from all walks of life… and the overall experience here made it very hard for us to leave! Rod & Lynn- Your warmth and great hospitality have really made us feel at home. What a pleasure to meet you both! Rod- you really do make killer pancakes! Even though I prefer a vegetarian diet, I couldn’t help but try the sausages…and they were very, very delicious! Also Natalya wants to let you know that she felt so relaxed and free , just like the little piglets that were running around your property :p ! Lynn – We loved the great conversations (especially about Grinnel’s “Last Stand”) Also, thank you for taking the time to give us a tour of our lovely home! We will be back!!!

This is not for everyone. But if you want budget, quiet, and know what camping is all about then maybe this is for you. It was great to be out in the farmland where the sky was dark and the quiet was supreme. We also enjoyed being still close enough to Cody that the drive in was easy and quick. We had a great time around the fire and breakfast in the morning was good (those sausages won over a non-sausage eater) and the communal aspect made it fun. We enjoyed talking to the other guests and learning their stories. Even at the end of June it got very cold at night. We were glad for the heavy duty sleeping bags, but just be prepared for any type of weather- this is outdoor sleeping. I did not use the outdoor shower, though my husband said the water was hot and the pressure was good. We chose the tent rather than the tepee because it had a wooden floor as opposed to just the grass/dirt floor of the tepee. This was a good location for us to explore further north and east of Cody into the Big Horn Mts. and we were glad we stayed here.

Rod's place was perfect to camp out under the stars for a couple nights. His recommendations for hiking spots were exactly what I was looking for. His pancakes made the stay even better.

Risposta di Rod:
Thanks for staying, Lauren! As for bugs, we can't eliminate their presence in the campsite. We have other options, such as two cabins and two rooms in our home, if you do not want bugs in your environment.
