Pohailani 221 is a 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom 2nd floor duplex unit that comfortably sleeps 6. The complex is an ocean front complex with all the units surrounding a huge park-like interior with 2 pools. Our quiet garden view unit is only a few steps to the ocean and a very close walk to nice sandy beaches like Kahana beach. Some of the best/famous Maui beaches are just a few minutes drive away. The complex is also just a few minutes walk away from shopping, restaurants, gas station, and banks.

Our 2 bedroom upper floor unit has a large private lanai/balcony that faces the lush garden and pool. Our complex is very large and extends right up to the ocean across a small street. Most of the units are arranged around the the outside of the grounds, and the large interior grounds have lots of trees, grass, and lush vegetation in a park-like setting. The pools and BBQ areas are all on the inside area. The units are not set up like typical condos. The complex is made up of individual private duplexes (each building has only 2 units - 1 upper like ours and 1 lower) so there are no adjoining walls with other units. This allows the upper units like ours to have vaulted high ceilings. Our unit is a garden view 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom 2nd floor duplex condo vacation unit that comfortably sleeps 6. The master bedroom has a queen bed and shoji doors that open to the main living area that has a queen pullout sofa. The second bedroom has a twin bed, pull-out single, and a bunk bed. There is also a portable folding double mattress in the unit that can be put wherever you want. There is a cable flat screen TV in the living room. The fully equipped kitchen has charming Balinese cabinets, stainless steel counter-tops and updated appliances. A three person kitchen bar provides another dining area and a way to interact with the cook and contributes to the open layout of the condo. Vaulted ceilings and ceiling fans throughout contribute to the airy tropical feel of this unit. The large private covered lanai overlooks the smaller of the two pools and provides dining for four. Perfect for a relaxing cocktail.

The entire condo with private lanai is yours. You also have access to all the pools, the BBQs, and all grounds on the complex including the oceanfront BBQs and picnic areas.

The ocean is just a few steps away. You can see it from our front door. Sandy beaches are also close by. One way to access the sandy part of Kahana beach is through the Valley Isle resort just a few minutes walk to the south. The beach (Kahana1 and Kahana2) gets wider as you go farther to the left (south) and there is a public access path just south of the Kahana Sands hotel. Kahana beach is usually a calm beach and it has good snorkeling. If you walk north from our unit about 100 yards along Lower Honoapiilani Road next to the Kahana Village complex, there is public shoreline access (ShoreLine1, ShoreLine2) to a very nice very flat water beach. We like this the best. There is also a really nice untouched little beach (LittleBeach1, LittleBeach2) just off the road a little north from there. The famous Kapalua Beach (Kapalua1, Kapalua2) area is just 3 minutes drive north just next to the SeaHouse Restaurant. There is lots of free parking, washrooms, and a nice strip of grass with palm trees for shade above the beach. The trail along the beach and beyond is actually a special walking trail that will take you past some beautiful rocky coves (turtles love them) with flat calm water on the way to Oneloa Beach. If you drive north another 2 minutes, you will get to the Oneloa Beach (Oneloa1, Oneloa2) area. This beach has lots of free parking, sugar white sand, crystal clear water, and lots of room. To the south, another beach we especially like is on north Kaanapali beach at Kahekili Beach Park (Kaanapali1, Kaanapali2) which is just 5 minutes south by car. Drive to Puukolii Road and turn in towards the Westin Hotel. There is lots of free parking right next to the beach and there is a grassy area with palm trees for shade, washrooms, picnic tables, BBQs. The beach is great for the whole family. These are just a few of the multitude of amazing beaches with public access in Maui.

If you do not have snorkeling or diving gear, we have some in the unit, or it can be rented at Boss Frogs which is a 1 minute walk next to Dollies Pizza. The Kahana Gateway Shopping Center is only a 1 minute walk away. There you will find a general store, restaurants (Roys, Maui Brewing Company, and Angus Steak House), banks, gas station, a coffee shop/internet café, McDonalds, and shops providing locally-made and imported items. Of course there are so many other places and beaches close by that you will also want to explore. Whalers Village and the Ka’anapali beach area is just a 5 minute drive, and the he shops and galleries of Lahaina Town are just a 10 minute drive. The Cannery Mall with a huge Safeway, Longs Drugs, Starbuck and lots of shops is just a 7 minute drive. Organic foods, diary-free foods, and supplements are available at the Farmers market just a 3 minute drive south from our unit.

We are non-resident owners that love Maui and try to get there as much as possible. When we are not there, we are happy to let others enjoy the fully equipped 2nd home and experience all the magic that Maui has to offer.

We are non-resident owners. Check in and checkout are self-serve. One week before arrival, you will be provided with an access code by email. The keypad is on the entrance door. Use the provided code to open and lock the door. Please note that, like most Airbnb homes, this is a 2nd home that does not have 24 hour concierge or 24 hour staff on standby. Our resident Manager/cleaner can be contacted for issues in the unit. For problems with anything related to the complex such as gas in the outdoor BBQs, or the swimming pools etc., there is an on-site complex Manager and his office is in the large common building near the complex entrance. The complex manager does not handle anything inside the unit and does not work for us - they work for the complex.
