From our arrival to our departure we thoroughly enjoyed staying at this location. The apartment is clean, extremely well situated, and completely equipped, as well as in a safe area.
We stayed as a family of four (children are both under 6) and the pool was ideal for us, since there is a basin for them to play and it's protected with a gate all around. The beach is just beyond the pool and it was deserted in May, which is so nice.
The apartment is located in Mont Vernon, which is in the north section of Orient Bay. It's really close to the doctor/pharmacy, grocery stores, wine shop and plenty other places. In two weeks, we drove under 200 km even though we travelled to multiple beaches and this beach was really among the best.
Some really strong highlights: it's clean, quiet, close to the beach. I love that we found everything needed to cook with (pots, pans, dishtowels, knife, cutting board, bottle opener, etc). The fridge was spacious and quiet, the safe above the fridge worked well. The TV has a USB input so we were able to play some movies we had on our tablets.
I am trying hard to find anything negative to say, maybe that being a bachelor apartment, we had to creatively find ways to separate the rooms, which I did with some bed sheets we hung over a camping rope I always bring on trips and that I stretched across the room, that way the kids could sleep while the adults were not. The TV doesn't have many active channels and none in English, but really, we weren't in St-Martin to watch TV and my kids speak French anyways.
In terms of distance from the Juliana airport, you're looking at about 30 minutes without traffic, but you positively need to rent a car to get around. Food was rather inexpensive, we were able to eat for less than 2 euros each one night by buying a package of French-style Taboulé (2.50€), a bottle of wine (2.50€), and a baguette(1€) at the local Leader Price grocery store. The kids loved the food and don't make the mistake of thinking that boxed or frozen food is like what you find in North-America; the food here is excellent whatever aisle it comes from. The kids DELIGHTED in the frozen Cordon Bleu chicken we bought at Simply, the larger grocery store. Cheap and yummy.
By the way, Stephanie provided dishtowels, bath towels and bed sheets and covers, but you have to bring your own beach towel, which is normal. We were also able to use her parasol (large beach umbrella) which you need in St-Martin as there aren't many trees on the beach.
I would completely recommend this place and would love to come back next year, at the exact same spot, in the exact same apartment.
