Descrizione

An off-grid, simple sleep out with no plumbing or power. The casita is an 8x8 building with lots of windows and a fabulous view. Parking is a short walk from the Casita. Camp stove and table . Primitive composting, outdoor toilet and outdoor solar shower.

It is remote and quiet with fantastic view from it's hilltop location.

2 PERSONS MAXIMUM.

I offer a special rate to returning guests.

My place is quite difficult to find, especially in the dark. There is no cell service to rely on for information once you are in the area!
The Casita has a comfortable bed and clean sheets and a splendid view!

Solar shower (no running water but rainwwater is provided for solar shower) Outdoors.

Rudamentary composting toilet.

Outdoor camp stove and cooler.

Wifi

No cell phone service

Interaction with guests will vary according to each party's inclination. I am happy to share 26 years of local knowledge with guests. A yoga class and dinners may be available for a donation (suggest $20 per person) and two or three days advance notice.

It is very peaceful and beautiful. Four charming hens who run around foraging plus a mini desert jungle provides much of the food here. It is not a "farm" but a mini sustainability project in progress.

Own transport is absolutely necessary. Please, no arrivals later than 9 pm! This location is more difficult to find after dark; I recommend arriving in daylight. There is no street address here and NO MOBILE PHONE SERVICE IN THE AREA SO PLEASE SAVE DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS!

This location is 25 miles from a grocery store so guests should come prepared. BRING DRINKING WATER.
Two and a half miles up a county maintained dirt road means that on occasions of heavy rain or snow access may be 4x4 only.
Driveway may not be accessible in dry weather but parking below is safe and its not very far!
CASITA TARA IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN SUMMER!

We had such a great time in the cozy and clean casita! It was an unique experience, that we will never forget. Thank you Katherine for having us! We would definitely choose this bnb again next time! :) P.S.: The eggs from hens for breakfast were delicious!

We've just loved it! On a adoré.

The description of the casita is very accurate but the views are so beautiful it is hard to put into words! Falling asleep with so many stars above you and waking up to the sunset every morning was just what we needed. I wish we had gotten to interact with Kak more but that was our fault as we were trying to take in as much of Zion as we could. The fresh eggs from her chickens in the morning were welcomed and the atmosphere of the casita was incredible. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Casita Tara was a gorgeous and welcoming space nestled in the Utah desert, which offered stunning views and privacy for my girlfriend and I. We did find that much of the communication from our host was unclear (pink trash bins, 4WD etc) resulting in a pretty crass and unwelcoming initial introduction, which unfortunately severed the overall tone for our entire trip. The reviews suggest that Katherine has been a very gracious host so perhaps we just caught her on a bad day. Either way, we would suggest Casita Tara for anyone looking to detoxify and relax!

If you want a quiet, peaceful, beautiful, calm, rustic experience Casita is your spot. Kak was kind and helpful and gave us some great recommendations. The chickens were also fun hosts and gave us fresh eggs every morning.

Although my name is Katherine, it feels very formal to me and I am accustomed to going by the nickname "kak" (silly names leftover from boarding school in Switzerland). I am an advocate of sustainable, low environmental impact living. I spend part of the year at my home in Utah and part of the year working abroad on sailboats. I enjoy yoga (am a certified instructor) and outdoor escapades; gardening and cooking. Southern Utah is a huge playground for hikers, canyoneers and back country adventurers. With 26 years of gallavanting around here I can provide much information on all of the above.
I have hosted and surfed on couches and met some wonderful people. I also have work-traded in New Zealand, India and Hawaii. In my opinion, these networks of accomodation are magical for travelers who wish to get out of the tourist bubble and be exposed to the cultural richness of a place; local personalities and off the beaten track experiences.
