Feel big in this small space! The yurt sits in the middle of 100 acres with the comforts of a kitchen, toilet, clawfoot tub, organic towels & sheets and a woodstove. Close to Asheville's hiking, river, restaurants, and music, yet a private getaway.

A yurt is a round structure traditionally used by Asian nomadic peoples, meant to be taken down and moved. This one, however, stays right where it is. Updated with amenities for comfort, we intend for your stay in this yurt to be peaceful and relaxing. A kitchen and charcoal grill, indoor toilet and a claw-foot tub, and relaxing seating and sleeping make the stay almost as if you were in your own home. Except that the yurt is situated in the middle of a private 100 acre farm, with no other house for 360 degrees of countryside viewing. We are a small working farm, so you can see the gardens, horses and goats as you explore. There is a double bed fitted with luxurious bedding, as well as a futon mattress in a loft to sleep 1 or a cozy 2 people under the clear glass dome of the yurt which looks up at the stars.

Guests will have access to hike all 100 acres and swim in a neighboring pond if they choose.

I will be available by phone or email with my guests as much as they need. As it is a working farm, I am usually around the farm feeding horses or otherwise on a daily basis. So, chances are I will meet every guest at some point in their stay, but then the space is yours to relax.

A very short drive away is the very cute and hip town of Marshall, with artist studios on an island in the river, a coffee shop, 2 bars and 2 restaurants, a grocery store, and more. About 35 minutes away is the thriving city of Asheville. And the surrounding area of Western North Carolina is a perfect setting for all sorts of outdoor activities--hiking, biking, rafting, etc.

There is no public transit to the location. Guests will be responsible for driving to the rental up a short and easy dirt road, just off the main highway. It's about 35-40 minutes from Asheville and 45-50 minutes from the airport.

We ask that you keep in mind the location of the yurt is in the country. It is not uncommon to hear coyotes or gunshots at times, which echo through the mountains. Neither of these are a threat to our guests, just part of the experience! And please plan to bring sensible shoes if you choose to hike around.

We expect our guests to relax and make themselves at home. We do not allow dogs since there are numerous livestock on the farm and we wouldn't want any animal or a guest's pet to be harmed. There is no smoking allowed inside the yurt, but outside on the porch is fine. We strongly discourage leaving any cigarette butts on the property, as fires are a real risk, so we provide an ashtray on the porch of the yurt.

I grew up in Marshall, NC with back-to-the-land parents, watching them raise sheep, make cheese, spin wool, grow gardens and the like. After college, I decided to come back to this special town and start a family of my own on a piece of land. With horses, cows, goats, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks and a garden, we have our hands full and boots dirty, but love every minute of it. So if you're inspired by the song of the mountains, the electricity of nearby Asheville or the excitement of new places, come stay with us! Kindly, Anna and Marco
