Ideal for nature lovers and bird watchers. One must be in decent phisical shape for the ten minute hike up to the cabin. The cabin is located up above the village and overlooks the trees and ocean beyond. It includes: one double bed, two hammaks, kitchenette, half bath, and patio with chairs for lounging. There is no wifi in the cabin. One must hike 10 minutes down to the elementary school in the village for Internet access.
The cottage can comfortably accommodate 1 or 2 adults. It has a ceiling fan and a portable pedestal fan for the bed. It can be hot and humid in the summer months. It has electricity, and is equipped with a double gas burner, a toaster oven, a fridge, a coffee grinder, a blender, dishes, pots, pans and kitchen utensils, so it is entirely possible to cook your own meals for the duration of your stay. If you don't want to cook, we can arrange meals with one of the neighbors. We will be happy to get you the groceries you desire, subject to availability. However you must give us a few days notice and a shopping list. If there is a particular food item you can’t live without which might not be found in Yelapa, then we recommend that you bring it with you.
The cottage is about a 10-minute hike up the mountain from the beach. It has lovely views of lush foliage and the ocean beyond. Our home is located about 100 feet behind the cabin. We have never had any problems with theft, but please be aware that there is no means of locking up your valuables, so we recommend that you find a good hiding place for them within the hut or take them with you when you are away.
The bed has a mosquito net over it so that you will not be bothered by mosquitoes while sleeping. Mosquitoes are primarily an issue in the summer months. In the mornings and evenings you will probably be most comfortable if you have long pants and long-sleeved shirts to wear.
We have a natural spring up the mountain where Pizota supplies it's water. We filter this spring water and supply it to our family and our guests. If you are uneasy about this, we can also provide you with bottled water for drinking from the village store. The bathroom and kitchen sink have running hot and cold water from the spring. The shower and faucets have hot water supplied by a propane water heater.
Sheets, towels and blankets are provided for you. It is warm and lovely in Pizota year-round, but in the winter the nights can be cool. In addition to all the usual things you would take on a trip to Mexico, we recommend that you bring sunscreen, mosquito repellent, earplugs, a hat, long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, a fleece and a flashlight.
The cottage is a 10 minute hike up from the beach. We meet all guests at the boat upon arrival, help with baggage, and show them the general layout of the village and the way to the cottage. Please notify us in advance of your estimated arrival time. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property and to the washing machine at our house.
Hiking, waterfall, kayaking, snorkeling, guided tours are also available.
