Ideal for nature lovers and bird watchers. One must be in decent phisical shape for the ten minute hike up to the cabin. The cabin is located up above the village and overlooks the trees and ocean beyond. It includes: one double bed, two hammaks, kitchenette, half bath, and patio with chairs for lounging. There is no wifi in the cabin. One must hike 10 minutes down to the elementary school in the village for Internet access.

L'alloggio

The cottage can comfortably accommodate 1 or 2 adults. It has a ceiling fan and a portable pedestal fan for the bed. It can be hot and humid in the summer months. It has electricity, and is equipped with a double gas burner, a toaster oven, a fridge, a coffee grinder, a blender, dishes, pots, pans and kitchen utensils, so it is entirely possible to cook your own meals for the duration of your stay. If you don't want to cook, we can arrange meals with one of the neighbors. We will be happy to get you the groceries you desire, subject to availability. However you must give us a few days notice and a shopping list. If there is a particular food item you can’t live without which might not be found in Yelapa, then we recommend that you bring it with you.

The cottage is about a 10-minute hike up the mountain from the beach. It has lovely views of lush foliage and the ocean beyond. Our home is located about 100 feet behind the cabin. We have never had any problems with theft, but please be aware that there is no means of locking up your valuables, so we recommend that you find a good hiding place for them within the hut or take them with you when you are away.

The bed has a mosquito net over it so that you will not be bothered by mosquitoes while sleeping. Mosquitoes are primarily an issue in the summer months. In the mornings and evenings you will probably be most comfortable if you have long pants and long-sleeved shirts to wear.

We have a natural spring up the mountain where Pizota supplies it's water. We filter this spring water and supply it to our family and our guests. If you are uneasy about this, we can also provide you with bottled water for drinking from the village store. The bathroom and kitchen sink have running hot and cold water from the spring. The shower and faucets have hot water supplied by a propane water heater.

Sheets, towels and blankets are provided for you. It is warm and lovely in Pizota year-round, but in the winter the nights can be cool. In addition to all the usual things you would take on a trip to Mexico, we recommend that you bring sunscreen, mosquito repellent, earplugs, a hat, long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, a fleece and a flashlight.

Accesso ospiti

The cottage is a 10 minute hike up from the beach. We meet all guests at the boat upon arrival, help with baggage, and show them the general layout of the village and the way to the cottage. Please notify us in advance of your estimated arrival time. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property and to the washing machine at our house.

Hiking, waterfall, kayaking, snorkeling, guided tours are also available.

Interazione con gli ospiti

We are happy to be of any help to our guests during their stay in Pizota. In case of an emergency, don't hesitate to give us a call up at our house at any hour of the night. Our house is roughly 100ft. Away. If given a grocery list within 3 days notice, we can do your shopping.

Altre cose da evidenziare

Be sure to bring enough cash from Puerto Vallarta. There are no ATM machines between Pizota and Vallarta. In Pizota there is limited cell phone service. At the elementary school in the village, we have internet service available.

Matthew, Vanessa and all their kids were truly great hosts. The panga ride both ways was beautiful. The cabin is lovely: open air, packed earth floors, nestled right in the gorgeous green canopy of the oceanside jungle. It was the perfect size for my girlfriend and I, and we spent many afternoons watching the birds, cooking, and relaxing under the thatched roof. We stayed in late August and truly enjoyed the relatively cool, rainy season - having plenty of beach time during the day, but also experiencing heavy rains almost daily. (Though the flies were no joke so we tried to keep the chiminea going for smoke to keep them at bay). On our way in Matthew's daughter helped us pick starfruit from his suegro's tree which we ate every morning; we also gathered fresh avocados from them for our stay, and placed orders for fresh tortillas with a woman in town. Matthew and his family went out of their way to be accommodating during our stay, especially when I became sick. They brought home remedies and offered to retrieve things from the store. I really appreciated their kindness, and only wish I had felt better so we could hang out more! We are very thankful that Matthew's family and Pizota shared their town with us. Our visit left us with a lasting impression :)

This secluded cabin was exactly what was advertised and turned out to be just what we were hoping for! Mateo and his family were extremely welcoming and did not hesitate to let us in on village life and provide any accommodations we needed. We enjoyed a relaxing vacation on the beach but also were pleasantly surprised by the adventure of getting to know the village and local people of Pizota. Such a wonderful experience and we would love to return someday!

Mateo and Vanessa have put together a delightful AirBnB experience. The panga landing can be a little wet, the trail is a little rough (think Sierras over Yosemite), but once you are at the (URL HIDDEN) is Heaven. Jungle canopy vista, with the ocean as your backdrop, and a surf and bird soundtrack. It is like a Robinson Crusoe adventure meets modern plumbing and appliances.

Matthew was an excellent host. Always attentive if we needed anything. The cabin has everything you need and basic to spend a pleasant stay. The cabin is private but at the same time open to the environment, which is great. The beaches were practically empty, we enjoyed them practically with a Canadian couple. Pizota is perfect for people who want vacations away from tourists and vendors, and who like adventure, because the journey includes bus, small towns, water taxi and more!
