PLEASE NOTE: To save everyone time & frustration, please complete your profile with a picture of yourself, a bit about who you are and at least three verifications before requesting a reservation. This is a trust based community, but we all like to see the human that we are conversing with. Also, reading the entire listing (by clicking on "more" below) will likely answer most of your questions. In the event that this room is full, we have other listings at the same property here:

Our large farmhouse is surrounded by ever expanding gardens, an entertaining flock of chickens, a growing herd of silly goats (Nubian dairy) and grassy knolls perfect for a lazy picnic. There is lots of great communal space to enjoy…...WiFi throughout, a fire pit, porches to hang out on. We have two bathroom facilities in the house; one full bath off of the kitchen downstairs and a half bath on the back porch. The half bath has the most direct access to the tent through our back door. The kitchen is large and available for light guest use during non-peak hours. If you are a foodie and love to cook, let us know because so do we. Maybe we can share a meal during your stay. There are laundry facilities available for guests staying longer than a week. There is usually plenty of street parking right in front of the house (please don't leave valuables in car - here or anywhere in the city).

This tent is such a beautiful and inspired design that we just couldn't help ourselves when we saw it. We hope you will enjoy it. It is currently outfitted with a double bed and linens, lamps, seating and electricity.

Although our property is a bit of an oasis, our direct neighborhood is comprised of apartments, blue collar homes and businesses. We are located just off of Powell Street, walking/biking distance to the well known Hawthorne neighborhood and even closer to the increasingly popular and urbane Division Street, which has become a cultural food mecca in its own right over the past couple of years (we recommend you check out our guidebook to see some of the highlights). Powell is a busy thoroughfare, making it a bit funky but equally convenient to get just about anywhere in town. We wouldn't call it picturesque, but the farm is fantastic!

We are a block away from a #9 Trimet bus stop which will take you to the city center in just 20 minutes. We are also just 5 blocks from the #75 stop which traverses the city north to south. Trimet (our public transit) has a great trip planner on their website and we highly recommend you check that out if you will be using public transit. Uber has started operating in our city and we have heard great things from other guests about using the service. Spinlister is also a great website that allows you to rent bikes from peers....not unlike this service.

We do not serve breakfast but, offer complimentary coffee and tea. We also welcome you to partake of fresh eggs and anything from our garden. This is a city of culinary delights and we don’t want you to miss out on any of them. We are happy to share suggestions. The list of amazing restaurants is inexhaustible.

Dogs can be accommodated, but please contact us BEFORE booking. We will send you a special offer that includes the pet fee if you will be visiting with a dog. They must be supervised at all times and may not be left in the room when you leave. Dogs must be on a leash at all times when in the house and yard. Please respect the gardens and pick up after your dog. There is an additional $35 a night fee for pets.

We live with the aforementioned flock of chickens (outside of course), and a few mischievous goats (three does, Bellianna, Hazel & Josephina, as well as Achilles & Henry Francis, the smelly bucks). Indoors, we have an aged chihuahua who licks obsessively (Millhouse), a Siamese cat that is the size of a small mountain lion (Sidney) and a frisky black and white kitty (Bizby). The animals are, to their dismay, not allowed in the guest rooms, but they do live in the house with us. While we do vacuum regularly, those with pet allergies would likely be more comfortable elsewhere.

LATE CHECK-INS & CHECK-OUTS can be accommodated, just let us know. We can be flexible as long as it doesn’t step on other guest's toes.

Thanks for sticking with it to the end!

A few request & relevant information

- The entire house is cleaned top to bottom every week. The guest rooms are, of course, cleaned and prepared before each guest arrives. Please remember that we are a working urban farming family, not a full time hotelier with staff so if something is not up to your expectations please let us know and we will make every effort to accommodate your needs.

-It isn't easy keeping an urban farm house clean. So leaving your shoes at the door helps immensely (and makes it more comfortable, We'd say).

-Please no smoking on the property.

-You can make noise in the house, but PLEASE keep noise to a bare minimum after 10 pm and before 7 am as we share our house with guests from different time zones and its hard to know when someone is trying to sleep. Farm chores are real, so you may hear us up and about earlier than 7.

We are a tiny (we’re only three inches tall!), modern (post-nuclear), 21st century family living in an big old turn of the century farm house. Amy has spent her adult life as a serial entrepreneur, starting more businesses than we care to bore you with. Frank studied architecture in New Orleans and has spent years in the design industry. Together, we are enthusiastically taking on this city farm project. Our little farm sits on a ½ acre close in to Portland’s downtown. We are living closer to our food source and building a stronger community. Here’s to building an awesome community and taking social deficits by storm….yay Airbnb!
