CREEK FIRE UPDATE: Our beloved Mountain Top Tiny home was recently burned down in the Creek Fire. Our "Help Rebuild the Canopy Sierras" GoFundMe campaign is live and we look to begin rebuilding this fall. Thank you so much for all the love and support from our community and airbnb guests as we bring this Tiny House at The Canopy Sierras back to life for a reopen spring of 2021.

Lo spazio
Over the past week, The Creek Fire has devastated over 200,000+ acres and counting, demanding evacuation of Shaver Lake and all the areas around the Sierras leaving us in a state of shock and unknown. This fire has destroyed our neighbor’s homes, businesses, livelihoods and so much more. Unfortunately, we (Jeff & Matt Alligood) were among some of the many in this beautiful mountain community of Shaver Lake to lose our home and our business.

In December 2017, we set off on a journey from Pennsylvania to go build our dream in the sierra mountains of California. Our mission was to build off-grid tiny houses out in nature where people could go to escape the busyness of life and go reconnect with themselves and their loved ones in nature.

As we have watched our vision come to life from deserted land to a forest retreat we have been lucky enough to witness so many people’s special moments up there. Guests have proposed to their partners, countless anniversaries and birthdays have been celebrated and one couple went as far to name their child after the space.

Over the past few years we have put all our energy, time and saved money into building every part of this space from the ground up into this magical getaway called The Canopy Sierras. This campaign is designed to help us get back on our feet after losing a large portion of our business to the devastating Creek Fire.

Details of Fundraiser:

· Funds raised through this campaign are not a band aid. These funds will be used to build The Canopy with the same spirit, the same passion and the same commitment to community.

· The cost to build the house, shed, shower, bathroom and tools was $25,000 plus thousands of hours from ourselves, friends and family.

· All funds raised through this campaign will be spent doing the following:

o Buying Tools to build structures (All tools lost in the fire) (Generator, Saws, Drills, hand tools, etc.) ($2,000)

o Materials to Rebuild the Tiny House (Cost of Materials originally $18,500)

o Materials to Rebuild the Shower (Cost of Materials, water tank, piping, hot water heater, etc. originally $2,000)

o Materials to Rebuild the Shed (Cost of Materials originally $1,500)

o Materials to Rebuild the Bathroom (Cost of Materials originally $1,000)

We hope to raise $10,000 to start the journey of rebuilding this space so we can get back on our feet by next year and reopen to guests by the spring. If you are unable to give, we appreciate any share, prayer or good vibe.

Lastly, We will keep all donors up to date with our progress on our Instagram as we plan to document the entire experience of the rebuild effort at The Canopy as well as throughout Shaver Lake starting October of this year.

You can find the link on our Instagram bio as well as typing in The Canopy Sierras on the Gofundme Website.

Thank you so much for your support. Hope to see you very soon.

We are so incredibly happy to share our experience of The Canopy with you! Matt and I (Jeff) are constantly building and enhancing the property and trying to make your stay as comfortable and unique as possible. We are currently building the third tiny house north of the property (finish date in April) and starting out outdoor communal kitchen for events in May. This will take us about 2-3 months to finish.

We will sometimes be up there to show you the property and give you the tour of everything and check you in, so you feel ready for your stay! :) Otherwise, check in directions will be when you book the space.

Important things to know before booking. This is an off grid experience so....

1. SHARED SPACES - Although you will have your own private living space please note our fire pit, tree fort, yoga deck, look out points, trails, hammock hangout, out house, solar shower are shared with Jeff & I and up to 2 more guests renting out our Mountain School Bus.There is 20+ acres of space so it never feels crowded. We will give you all the space you need and if you need anything from us just come ask us.

2. SHOWER - Our shower water is heated by the propane, you have pressurized hot showers over looking the mountains. ***(TURNED OFF IN WINTERTIME)

3. OUT HOUSE - Toilet is shared with other guests. Toilet Paper is provided.

4. COOLERS - There is no refrigerators. You will be responsible for keeping your food/drinks cold. We will provide the coolers but you will need to bring your own ice for your stay.

5. GETTING THERE - The Driveway (about 500 ft long) is a dirt road that is not paved and is dusty so your car will get dirty. While an SUV or 4x4 has no problem getting up there a sedan takes a little more time and you will need to drive slow. If you have a low clearance car, be careful and drive slow. We have a small hatchback and it makes it but we drive slow and careful. We are happy to escort you up to the land if your car has very low clearance from the bottom of the driveway but please let us know before hand so we can coordinate if we are around.

6. You are in Nature and there is Wild & Wonderful Animals up there. Be aware of open container. :)

7. Star Gazing Net (The Observatory) is located at the top of the property, this has been newly added. Follow the solar lights and relax. There is lots of blankets and pillows in the bin.

NOTE* This will be taken down first snowfall so it can last multiple years. Sorry for the inconvenience!!

8. We really encourage your feedback in the Guest Book we have on the land. There is a good chance that if you can dream it we will build it. We find everyone who comes up sees something different and new that would benefit the space based on each persons unique set of skills and talents. Everything built on this land was originated by ourselves, family, friends and Guests.

Accesso per gli ospiti
We encourage you to explore the remaining parts of the property and especially Canopy Rock about 10 minute hike up the dirt road. We have also retrofitted a school bus that sits at the bottom part of the property that we rent out to other guests, you have the privacy of your own house but you the communal firepit, the bathroom, hammock hangout, treefort, and outdoor shower are shared spaces. This is only if there is other guests up there. We want to provide unique spaces for our guests to be in private, but still allow them to communicate if they feel like meeting new people and sharing experiences.

Altre cose da tenere a mente
WINTER TIME*** . From First Snow until Last Snow Fall (Roughly December 1st- April 31st) California Highway Patrol (CHP) will require SNOW CHAINS to get up to Shaver Lake and our property. They will not let you up there unless you have 4 wheel drive or snow chains

WINTERTIME*** We do take down the stargazing net and and the shade tarps so they can last multiple seasons. Some hammocks are still up but we do winterize the property first snowfall!

WINTERTIME*** Shower will be turned off first below freezing night!!

We like to keep property open for adventurers during the winter but it can be very tough to prep in winter. Please let us know if it’s not up to your standards as we know winter can be very challenging for us!

Cressman's General Store (right at the beginning of the property entrance) is the most classic store of all time - it has been around for over 100 years. They have mostly everything you would need, water, beer, sandwiches, amazing baked goods, gas , ICE and any little thing you might of forgot on your trip (no produce). There is a market in Shaver Lake as well as one at the bottom of the valley in Prather (the town is a market, gas station and one restaurant. The market is called Mar-Val Market and we recommend getting all your groceries here.

Mckinley Grove is a small patch of Sequoia Trees about 40 minutes drive from the property that is absolutely beautiful and there is usually no one there.

Blue Sky Cafe is a great place located in shaver lake open from 7am- 2pm everyday and has smoothies, sandwiches, coffee and wifi.

Shaver Lake - The closest small town is about 15 minute drive from the land and has a few different restaurants, coffee shops & small grocery stores. The lake is beautiful and has many different areas with small beaches to spend the day.

We are two brothers who grew up playing in the woods building treeforts in a small town outside Philadelphia who always knew they wanted to build a place in the mountains where people can stay, explore and embrace nature without distractions. We started building May 2018 and will continue to create amongst friends, family and adventurers to help create the perfect getaway for anyone who cares to join us along this amazing journey! Matt & Jeff created the Canopy, a place for people to disconnect with the social character they’ve created and reconnect with that child in the woods through collaboration, connection and growth.
