Visit Vashon Island, a ferry ride away from Seattle. Enjoy privacy and comfort in our suite in the woods located above a detached garage next to our home. It includes a king sized bed, as well as a queen futon and a 3/4 bath all in one large space.
The suite accommodates at least 4 comfortably within a large open space. If you have a larger family, we can provide a foam mattress for an additional person. The main sleeping area with the King bed is defined by a shelving unit which provides privacy and helps to make it more like a separate room. The comfortable couch is a Queen Futon that we make into a bed as needed.
We have a treadmill if you are interested in some exercise during your stay. In addition, there is a cozy sitting area with a 42" flat screen television with Direct TV and a DVD player.
The suite is accessed by an exterior staircase.
As mentioned, the suite is above a two car garage and is detached from our house. When guests are staying with us, we park our vehicles outside at night to avoid the use of the garage doors late at night or early in the morning.
Interazione con gli ospiti
We are usually present to welcome you to our home and are an active family with three kids, so we will be running around to activities both on and off the island. We will make ourselves available for questions whenever needed. We love getting to know fellow travelers, but also respect your right to privacy.
As this is our home, although we make every effort to be considerate and avoid excessive noise, you will sometimes hear our children playing or my husband and myself working on projects around the property.
Altre cose da evidenziare
After a great deal of thought, we have decided to change our pricing structure. We will no longer have different prices for weeknights and weekends. Our flat rate will now be $100/night. We are also dropping our cleaning fee. So, from now on, all guests will pay $100 a night with no extra cleaning fee added. We feel this will make it more equitable as many of our guests are here for only one night and were paying a disproportionate nightly rate. Since there is no way through Airbnb to change the cleaning fee based on length of stay, we have decided to raise our rates, thereby incorporating the "cleaning fee" into our new rate.
After almost two years of hosting, and just having completed our taxes, we had also come to the realization that after taxes, our profit was quite minimal when compared to the amount of labor and time it takes to run an Airbnb property. In order to continue to host, which we enjoy doing, we would need to increase our rates. Thank you for understanding.
FYI: Island Center Forest (which is directly behind our house) and most of it's trails is usually closed to all other recreational uses due to a limited hunting season for just over two weeks in mid to late October. This year (2016) the trails will be closed from October 15-31.
We hope our guests will be respectful of our home and treat it as if it were their own. We also would not be an appropriate location if you plan on many late night returns (after midnight) or loud parties.
We do not allow smoking (of any kind) anywhere on the property. We also will not tolerate any illegal drug use. If there is evidence that these activities are taking place, you will be asked to find different accommodations and forfeit the cost of the remainder of your stay.
Due to a recent negative experience, we have realized we need to be more detailed in our policy regarding Marijuana specifically. Although it is legal in WA State to use Marijuana in your own home, it is not legal to store, smoke, use a vaporizer or in any other way have Marijuana in another person's property or home without their permission. We are very purposefully not a Marijuana friendly establishment and would prefer that it not be brought onto our property. Thank you for respecting these house rules.
We would be happy to have your well behaved dog stay with us as long as you clean up after them. We are happy to provide dog bags for this purpose. We would also appreciate a heads up if you do plan to bring your dog.
My husband and I both enjoy traveling and between the two of us have been around the world. We now enjoy sharing these adventures with our three boys. I particularly enjoy traveling to Europe where we have friends and family. But I would never pass up the opportunity to travel just about anywhere.
Whether we are hosting or being hosted, we are very respectful of others, their privacy and property. When traveling we want nothing more than a clean, comfortable room to come back to after seeing the local sights. When hosting we will provide the same to all travelers.
We are new to Airbnb and are looking forward to getting to meet other travelers both on the road and at home.
