Rosie and the other hens invite you to stay in this quiet 1920's one bedroom home apartment located in the UW/ Bryant neighborhood of Seattle. The resident hens have kicked into early profuse laying as days lengthen and will gladly supply fresh eggs, while Lisa provides a surprise welcome basket full of local goodies.

Natural light abounds, the setting cozy, as the windowed kitchen stocked with some good basics and a few lavish treats. The intimate livingroom has a comfortable daybed (trundle or makes up as a double) allowing 1-2 additional guests upon request. The colorful bathroom is ready for you with fresh towels and local soaps.

Breakfast fixings in the fridge includes fresh eggs and local bread (gluten free upon request)or/granola , tea and coffee. Other goodies may include local jam, honey and seasonal veggies from the garden.

Lisa values sustainable living and to ensure your comfort this is a fragrance and chemical free environment. The inviting yard features lush organic gardens, a stone patio, gas grill and fire basin; perfect for relaxing, enjoying a fresh grilled fish dinner and toasty warm fire on a cold evening after exploring the city. Of course Rosie and her feathery sisters can be heard rustling about and guests can count on a greeting from Dorje the herding dog.

Lisa's house is just blocks from the Burke Gilman Trail and Lake Washington - an area where outdoor activities predominate. Whether you want to walk, bike, paddle or bus, Lisa can provide detailed information and local maps. Bikes are easily rented through a company who drops them off and picks them up from the house. There is handy bike storage if you bring your own.

Just a few of the Fantastic local activities include:
-Touring the Chihuly Museum at dusk to see the garden of glass come alive with color and light.
- Ride Seattle's Great Wheel - the huge Ferris wheel on Pier 57 overlooking Puget Sound.
- Visit the Year Round Farmers Markets either in the Univ. District on Saturdays or in the heart of historic Ballard on Sundays, both with unique neighborhood character!
- Amble in the Arboretum just a hope across the bridge!

Delicious restaurants like Franks Oyster House and Pair (both Lisa's ideal Happy Hour spots) are just blocks away. Plus the PCC (Puget Sound Community Coop) Market and the Metropolitan gourmet grocery are also within an easy walk. Check out the location map for more great neighborhood highlights.

The house sits back off the street and up a stairway which provides quiet privacy and views of the Cascades. Once your reservation is made, Lisa will provide a combination to the key box so check-in can be at your convenience anytime after 5 pm.

Street parking is readily available along with frequent bus access only half a block away.

Lisa welcomes her guests with open arms and offers as much attention or privacy as guests desire. Loving the outdoors as she does, Lisa can offer many ideas for local adventures within walking distance like Ravenna Park, Magnuson Park or even a days drive. She also loves culture, the arts in the city and exploring small quaint rural towns like Carnation and Duvall. From neighborhood walks with Dorje, downtown Seattle, Snoqualmie Falls, San Juan Islands, Gig Harbor, to Mount Rainier or a bit less traveled but unique spots like Carnation, Poulsbo, Snohomish. ... there is endless exploration in the region and Lisa loves to share it.

Rosie's Roost is an ideal location for playing and exploring, whether it be a Sea Hawks or Huskies game or jetting out to the mountains for a hike or winter time ski. From paddling Lake Washington at the nearby Arboretum to biking the Burke Gilman Trail (only 5 blocks away) or walking to the University Village for specialty shops like: Anthropologie, Apple, Aveda and Restoration Hardware. The Village also offers Summer Wednesday music nights. Restaurants options abound for guests in the Neighborhood.

Many fine restaurants are within blocks including: Pair for Mediterranean tapas, Frank's Oyster House, Krua Family Thai and the delicious Mioposto Pizzeria with a wood fired oven has people lining up at the door.

It is easy to get lost in the peace and quiet of Ravenna Park's ravine, go bird watching at the Center for Urban Horticulture Natural Area, or explore the many natural wonders of Magnuson Park on Lake Washington. You really don't have to venture past the hood, however...

Seattle is a highlight with many sights, sounds and adventures, to be had downtown just a short Link (see getting around) or bus ride away. Historic areas: Pioneer Square, Pikes Place Market or New exotic places: the EMP (Experience Music Project Museum), the SAM (Seattle Art Museum) and Sculpture Park. A few days is never enough.
Cross the Puget Sound by ferry or wonder up to the Cascade foothills and beyond. Rosie's Roost can be a great base to create memories from!

Ride the "Link Light Rail" a great new EXPANDED feature in Seattle's public transportation system. The Link is now available from the Airport to within a 1/2 mile of Rosie's Roost- It passes through downtown with several stops, and ride a quick 7 min. more to the University of Washington where you pop off and can grab Taxi or Uber up to Rosie's Roost. If timing works out, Lisa may be available for a pick-up. The Burke Gilman Trail is perfect for walking or biking in either direction back to the Univ. of WA and Children's Hospital in the opposite direction. Buses stop at the end of the block to swoop you into downtown or back down to the Link. So there are several options for visitors to head to Pike's Place Market, Pioneer Square and other great downtown destinations in 7-20 minutes. Riding the Link Light Rail also will whisk a visitor to the airport within 35-40 min. from the House. As Lisa and she can provide many transportation options, like riding the Link in and renting a car in downtown to avoid expensive airport taxes.

Currently Rosie's Roost has one good loaner bike with the hope of getting another one ready soon. Please contact Lisa ahead of time if you are hoping to for 2 bikes. There are also a few helmets but if you want more than a casual ride, I strongly recommend you bring your own helmet (required by law in Seattle). Seattle is very bike friendly with lots of trails and bike routes. Seattle's great bike map is provide in the apartment.

I am passionate about living a thoughtful sustainable lifestyle and reflect that in my home. I am in awe of natural world and what it has to offer us. The garden, colors, critters and creative creations bring me great joy. Many overseas experiences and opportunities have been a great influence. New Zealand Backpacker style hosteling and growing up with exchange students has been inspirational. As hostess myself, I love providing the little touches to provide a sense of home away from home.
