Daniel and his wife prepared the place for us and we felt right at home. The Cottage is very well designed and tastefully furnished . It has a romantic stove that gave us heat and make the space even cozier. The kids loved the house, playing in the garden and picking black berries from the edges around the stone walls. Everything was well functioning and well organised. Five stars stay for us!

No. 9 is a wonderful cottage situated on a small hill with a large yard, including picnic table, and nice view that includes glimpses of Galway Bay. Just off the main coast road, it's easy to find though set back from the street. A brief walk into Bearna (great drinks at The Twelve, great seafood and view at O'Grady's on the Pier, and an all-you-could-want SuperValu grocery) and just a 20-minute taxi into Galway. Being near the heart of Connemara is important to us and No. 9 fit the bill. As for the cottage, it helped us that each of the bedrooms has a slightly different configuration (all comfy) and each has its own bathroom - YAY! We also used the loft space which is nice and bright with two skylights. We enjoyed a turf fire in the fireplace and even made dinner for seven in the small but sufficiently equipped kitchen area. Bed linens and towels werre great, water pressure great, what am I missing? Daniel was the perfect host -- easy to communicate with and very responsive. He provided many good recommendations and checked in "just enough." We've stayed in many cottages in and around Spiddal/Bearna and I think we've found the one we'll return to on future trips.

We stayed in no. 9 for 9 nights in August 2017. Family, two children and a Granny. The cottage has all you need and is very close to Barna village which has excellent facilities including pubs, restaurants, shops, pharmacy, taxi, takeaways and more. Walkable in 5 minutes. Cottages have a manager Tom who will help and support your stay. Lovely hosts Dan and Sarah who live nearby. Direct public transport into Galway or out to Connemara. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottages.

Checked in on Saturday. Met Tom, lovely guy. Found house to be filthy. Baby food on baby chair and behind baby chair on wall, thick dust on bed frames, skirting and on wooden/laminate floors in bedrooms. Pots had burnt in stains, cups had residue, couch had lots of debris including peanuts (we had an infant with us). Garden had not been mown. Generous prickly thistles. Playground was lovely. Brand new and in great condition. Tom was very helpful and immediately obliging giving us a hoover. We bought cleaning products in SuperValu and cleaned the Saturday evening of our arrival and the Sunday morning. Disheartened and knowing that the owners who live in the attached house to whom we would have been complaining would return for the second week of our holiday we elected to leave. We politely handed the key to Tom and left. We sought a partial refund (we paid circa 2k and only stayed one night) and were refused as the owner feels they maintain the property to a good level of cleanliness. I know I have a clear conscience. The irony is WE paid a cleaning fee!

Risposta di Daniel:
Hi Peter and Family, Thank you for your review. We have Tom, our manager, who lives on site and a cleaner who arrives every day of the week during the Summer season. If anything is ever required, we ask guests to bring it to our attention as we can work around or fix (almost) everything within a few hours. Our telephone conversation alluded to the fact that the whole package was not what you'd expected. Our collection of great reviews over the last few years means that we both have a clear conscience. Circa 2k means €1600 for 14 nights. Great value for most family holidays in a beautiful, fully renovated cottage near the sea and Galway city with 3 ensuite bedrooms, a loft conversion and (now we're home from holiday) a freshly mown lawn that has had special attention since you brought my gardening skills into question. We are constantly trying to improve our family business and thank you for bringing these points to our attention. Our triple and double glazed windows usually keep out 90% of any noise from the road - yours is the first noise complaint we have had in 5 years, but I will persist in pushing the proposed Barna bypass. We would welcome you back and will ensure that your next visit is more to your approval.

This was the most Pleasant stay that I've had an Ireland in my trips that I've taken over the years. Daniel Sarah and Thomas were very friendly outgoing and very informative. The grounds were beautiful, the house was lovely with plenty of bathrooms! My son and I enjoyed our stay so very much! I would highly recommend this to anyone who is traveling to the county of Galway! Thank you so much Dan Sarah and Thomas. Warmest regards Melissa ficker

Dan and Sarah have 3 beautiful children, Lockie, Leon and our newest arrival; our first girl, Eden. We have recently finished up our 'double life' of moving to the French Alps every Winter to focus on our family and our cottages in Barna, Galway. We are hands on, live on site and hope that our guests enjoy experiencing our cottages in Galway.
