"You guys are the best!"
"One of the reasons we chose SG as our destination."
"My favorite place in Singapore."
Experience the best of Singapore's rich cultural past and its dynamic sociocreative present at this lovely, vibrant Chinatown shophouse / creatives' home.
The location: a charming, small lane just off Club St with a variety of restaurants and cafes at your doorstep, in historic Chinatown (3 mins walk to Chinatown MRT) and right next to Singapore's bustling central business district (5-7 mins walk to Raffles Place MRT), set in a delightfully walkable neighborhood full of heritage, temples, coffeeshops, and surprises.
The room: a full studio-sized room (250+ sf) with ensuite bathroom, fully airconditioned and furnished, home-office ready (plug in and work away), and all the home amenities you might need — unlimited high-speed WiFi, access to our cosy home theatre with projector (in the living room) and full kitchen (including oven) and laundry. Lots of street parking right downstairs, great food all around, and the walk from bed to street takes only ten seconds.
The company: You'll be living (a) in a creative hub with other creatives — between the three of us living here (we take up the other two rooms in a three-bedroom shophouse), we're artists, designers, writers, musicians, architects, consultants, and more — and many others have visited (previous guests include filmmakers, curators, artists, writers), and (b) a venue of buzzy sociocreative activity — this studio has hosted salons, parties, candlelit dinners, exhibitions, film shoots, social gaming nights, and more! There's always a new story in this space — you just might be part of the next one. We certainly hope so :)

We had an exceptional stay with Sam and Philip! They were most welcoming, flexible, and engaging hosts, who helped us to orient to our new home in Singapore. Through local recommendations, cooking and hanging around with us, and introducing us to their friends, they could not have made this move any easier on us! We are so grateful to have stayed with them our first week here, and hope that we will remain in touch long after, as they are not only respectful, thoughtful, and kind people, but also extremely open and interesting. And, the apartment itself is a rare find in SG, truly a gem of a place! A historical site, but well kept up, beautifully decorated, with anything you might need. We recommend this airbnb without reservation!
That was easy! Sam went over and above to help us organise our stay over the new year period and everything worked out great. The room is in a ideal position, clean, bright… the bed was good, air con, bathroom - everything was excellent.
In short, we were really happy with our stay and I'd recommend this room to anyone visiting Singapore.
I enjoy staying at Sam's place. The location is great (less than 5 mins walk to the MRT station). The room is very clean and spacious and it comes with its own bathroom. We stayed there over the Christmas break and we had the whole house to ourselves!
Lovely room, excellent location, awesome people!
I had a fantastic stay at Sam's funky shophouse. Sam and his flatmates are super friendly and welcoming. The apartment is in a very convenient location - walking distance to CBD, great restaurants, bars and Chinatown. Can't think of many locations which offer the same range of dining, entertainment and cultural options so close to public transport and downtown.
The room is enormous, with a good size bed, lots of light and typical shophouse character. You definitely feel connected to the neighbourhood being in a quieter side street off a main entertainment area. Definitely recommend it and would stay again!
I highly recommend this place to stay. I didn't notice that the room has a private bathroom when booked, but it has. Sam, Fillip and Linda are really kind and helpful hosts. The location is very convenient, close to Chinatown, Club street and Clarke Quay. The room is light with two big windows. Singapore is a very interesting place, I would definitely come back for a longer term.
Samuel and friends looked after our design intern from the UK for three weeks. He absolutely loved it..! Having a great place to stay really enriched his experience of Singapore, and you really can't get a better location than this. We're very grateful that Samuel shared his lovely home. I'm sure others will be just as delighted. T>
I had an excellent stay!! I chose this place firstly because of its central location, being close to the business district, Chinatown, riverside, MRT station, bars in the area. Moreover, the room is very spacious, bright and cozy. And… most pleasant are the hosts, with whom you can share endless stories. The place has certainly character and history. In short, a place to feel fully at home. I am looking forward to the day to come back.
This apartment is very centrally located, is walking distance to many destinations and provides easy access to subways. Checkin and checkout was smooth, and the hosts were welcoming and sociable.
One major issue to watch out for is the noise level. The room is located directly above the sidewalk and has minimal sound insulation (you can literally see outside through the gaps between the wooden-floor pieces in the room). Conversations happening on the street and the noise coming from the pub/restaurant next door easily permeates into the room - this can extent into the night until after midnight. In addition, there is severe noise every morning when several garbage and recycling trucks come around 7 am. We are not the lightest of sleepers but the noise level impacted our ability to get a proper night's sleep.
The apartment was clean and well kept overall. One additional annoyance was the low water pressure in the shower and an odd smell in the washroom.
My husband and I stayed in this charming apartment for 6 days. It was our first visit to Singapore so our wonderful hosts made sure that we make the best of it. It was really helpful to know how to use the transport, where to eat (I am a vegetarian so Linda recommended a few great vegetarian restaurants), where are the most interesting streets hiding in Singapore. Linda helped us with booking our flights to Kuala Lumpur. I really liked that both Linda and Phillip shared their passion with us about photography and design. The room was really nicely decorated with beautiful details and I really felt like home. The MRT stations are close and the street is full of clubs and restaurants. This may be a bit too noisy on a Saturday eve but we didn't mind it too much. If back again to Singapore, we would definitely come back here as we really appreciated the personal touch of the place that you would not find in any hotel and we also met two great people and learned about their lives in Singapore. All in all, thank you so much Linda and Phillip, we really enjoyed staying in your charming place and having the chance to meet you both. All the best!!!
