I am a fun, kind hearted, strong independent female: aged 32 going on 22 who loves life, love people and love travelling :)
Born & raised in the beautiful island of Sri Lanka- former Ceylon, I currently reside in Melbourne, Australia. I moved to Australia 6 years ago in 2008 and called it my second home.
When people ask me where I feel home at, I always struggle with giving an straight answer. I am pretty much on the fence, torn between these two amazingly beautiful yet so different countries. To be honest I consider myself lucky to have the best of both worlds.
Saying that I've always had a special place in my heart for my paradise island Sri Lanka - the Perl of the Indian Ocean. Since i moved to Australia, to this vibrant city of Melbourne which I absolutely love, part of me still terribly miss the beautiful island Sir Lanka and have learnt to appreciate it lot more in the past few years I've been away. It’s true what the wise man once said ‘you don’t know what you’re missing until you lose it!’.
No wonder I find my self keep running back at any given chance to explore more of the islands beauty: from the untouched beautiful tropical sandy beaches, the marine life, surfs beaches, to the party beaches ~ The ancient ruins which tells an incredible story of a rich history of glorious kings, kingdoms, cities, culture and religion some dating far back to 500 BC. There are over 7 UNESCO world heritage sites in SL with Sigiriya the kings Rock being my favorite ~ Not forgetting Kandy the last kingdom, the home to the sacred temple / palace of the tooth relic of lord Buddha ~ Up country or the center of the island is the high plains surrounded by endless mountains and luscious tea estates with colonial bungalows, waterfalls, reservoirs ~ Rain forests with their lavish flora and fauna and rivers and streams ~ Lush wildlife especially the magnificent elephants, peacocks, deer, bears and the very own native Sri Lankan leopard – there's so much to see.
I am hoping to explore more of the rural life style: villagers still rich in traditions, warm friendly people and great food…. aaaaah how I miss the food.
Occupation : I currently work as a team manager for a the leading telecommunication company in Australia - leading a team of credit portfolio managers for enterprise and government client base. As much as I love my job my dreams job is to get in to the travel industry. This could be my stepping stone!
My mom is a single mom and she lives back in Sri Lanka with my brother who I allegedly call my business partner, who has his own travel company specialized in internet marketing .
He's usually takes care of some of my properties and guest while i am away. I am hoping to getting in to managing other properties as well due to popular demand and requests by few close friends/ property owners to assist in managing their properties. This includes internet marketing, listing, hosting, interacting with guest and provide them an outstanding service in order to make their journey a memorable one.
This area in particular is in my line of interest : I am a people’s person who has great management, customer service and interpersonal skills gained throughout my career - being able to pair these skills with travel would be a dream come true. Having my brother in the internet marketing industry is definitely a great advantage for me. I reckon listing my property on AIrbnb is a good start and I would love to be able to go beyond and assist my fellow sri Lankan friends who are not every internet or tech savvy in making their gorgeous properties known to all travelers all around the world and manage them to ensure smooth and excellent service for my fellow travellers. My biggest strength, at times which could be my weakness is the desire to make people happy, so you can’t go wrong. If you book a property with me you are guarantee a exceptional service. I would love to answer any of your travel question, organise transport, tours, direct you to main attraction and activities in the surrounding areas, advice you on must see places to visit in SL, pretty much I'll provide you anything you may need through my contacts to ensure your journey is a stress free memorable experience.
My recent travels: last year I traveled a fair bit of Australia from Brisbane, Gold coast, Sydney, Alice Springs, Adelaide and more of Victoria. This year I am keen in exploring Victoria more which is the state of Melbourne where I reside in. I plan my trips mostly during weekends. I usually pick an area i haven't been to, book a place to stay and just drive.
I am hoping to take a career break late this year/ next year to travel, explore more of Sri Lanka & Europe.
So far the place I would love to re-visits is the south island of New Zeland – Milford sounds to be specific. The pure nature diverse and magnificent landscape is just breathtaking – it’s simply another world...a fairy tale! I might pass on the bundgy jumping next time and try sky diving instead. Yep it's yet to be ticked off my bucket list!
Apart from all of the above I love hanging with my friends, making new friends, getting to know people: their background, lifestyle, culture, traditions, way of life, believes and disbelieves.
I love shopping: home wear to clothes, accessories, bags, shoes and more shoes.
I love being creative, interior decorating is another passion of mine which I am studying part time. I like drawing in my free time, doing art n crafts : pretty much I love anything in the creative department.
Love my ME time at home to watch TV, movies, browse, to slip in to a warm bubble bath with a glass of wine, some soft music and a good read.
Love my music, all types. My taste of music is pretty diverse and what i want to listen depends on my mood.
Love love dancing. The party song that gets me on my feet dancing these days is "Brave Heart" - Neon Jungle...yep true story.
Love food: from cooking shows to actually cooking & creating my own dishes. I love trying out different cuisine and I love entertaining my friends over for dinner parties!
I like keeping fit and healthy. Love trying out new things in life!
I simply love life!
I know at time life can be a bitch. We all have gone through our share of good and bad times and yes at time it has got the worse of us. My aim in life is to live life to the fullest, no regrets, be positive, be happy,be nice to one another and look after our planet earth and animals.
I believe the happiness and inner peace come with balance. Folks i am still in search of my ultimate balance, my ultimate happy place..tranquility! Hope you find yours too. Good luck all! xox
