Welcome to my newly renovated studio apartment in Crown Heights, Brooklyn! This apartment is in the lower level of my limestone townhouse, and is separate from the rest of the house - so you will have the space to yourself and complete privacy. It has a sunny southern exposure; bamboo floors; a kitchenette with an induction stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishes and pots/pans; a full bathroom with a tub, hair dryer and extra towels; cable TV and wifi access; and a portable air conditioner. As you'll see in my photos, I upgraded my sofa bed last year (June 2013) - it unfolds into a real, queen-sized bed, which will be made up upon your arrival, and is topped with a Tempurpedic mattress pad for a great night's sleep.
Crown Heights is a lovely, diverse neighborhood that is getting increasing attention for its convenience and amenities, and I live on a street of townhouses and small apartment buildings. The apartment is walking distance from the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, food markets, coffee shops, restaurants, shopping, a new yoga studio and a year-round Saturday green market. Local spaces host literary readings, music and dance performances. Sometimes prospective guests ask about the neighborhood's safety - I'm happy to say that in the five years I've lived here I've never had any problems or concerns, even when coming home alone late at night, and none of my 40+ guests have either.
The Franklin Avenue subway station, which has the 2, 3, 4, 5 and S trains, is only two blocks away - you can get to the Brooklyn Academy of Music (great movies, live music, theatre and dance) in one stop, or to the east or west side of Manhattan in under 20 minutes. If you have a car with you, street parking is fairly easy and there is a parking garage one block away ($20/night). There is also a bicycle shop nearby that has daily rentals.
The apartment has its own entrance, so you will have privacy and plenty of quiet, except for occasional street noise. If you are a bigger group there is an additional bedroom in the back part of the lower level of the house that I also rent out; access can be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Please note that I have a cat, but he doesn't go into the studio space so even if you have allergies you should not notice him - I have hosted several people who are allergic to cats and they have all been fine.
I look forward to hosting you!
The apartment is a completely separate space from the rest of my house, so you will have the space to yourself and complete privacy during your stay.
Because the apartment is separate from the rest of my house, and I am usually on a different schedule from my guests (going to work early, etc.), I often will not see people much during their stay. That being said, when I have had times to get to know my guests more I have really enjoyed it - it's one of the coolest aspects of Air B&B, in my opinion.

We stayed in the apartment of Erika on 29/03 until 08/04, was a trip honeymoon. The apartment is very functional, all appliances worked and had all the necessary items to stay. The location is good, walked metro every day and we returned late at night (11:00 PM or more ) without any problem, the street always had had people and cars. Conveniences are two shops open all day and the next metro.
We did not have much contact with Erika because we had everything in our power, so it was not necessary.
I recommend Erica's apartment and back in a next opportunity.
Erika’s Airbnb apartment was ideal for my recent visit. It’s pristine, comfortable, and contemporary, with modern European fixtures and furnishings, clean lines (an Ikea aesthetic), and plenty of natural light. In addition, there’s no lugging luggage up and down several flights of stairs – only a handful of steps and you’re in! Guests have a separate entrance and total privacy. Erika herself was kind, attentive, and hospitable, communicating with me immediately, showing me how everything worked, offering assistance if I needed it, stocking an array of foods and condiments in the kitchen, supplying assorted books about Brooklyn and New York, and providing all the amenities a guest might require. The studio apartment is ideally situated for much of Brooklyn’s best – Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Museum, intriguing cafes and shops – and easily accessible to Manhattan as well. If you want to go to Times Square, it’s a five minute walk to the subway, and twenty-five minutes later (without changing trains!) you’re there. I hope to stay at Erika’s again on my next visit to New York. Thank you, Erika!
This was our first rental with Airbnb, and it was perfect for us. Only a couple blocks from where our kids live, comfy bed, walking distance to restaurants and no trouble parking. Everything we needed. Will definately try to rent again next time we are in New York.
I rent this place for my mom who came to visit from Israel, and we wed wall extremely pleased. The apartment was comfortable, squeaky clean, and equipped with all kinds of high end foods and bath products. Erika was a wonderful host, very helpful and attentive to all our needs and requests. I'm sure will use it again for the next family visit!
Erika was a gracious and responsive host. The apartment was newly renovated, neat and clean. Close to transportation. Range of restaurants close by, and laundromat down the street and around the corner.
I had a wonderful stay at Erika's Brooklyn studio. Erika was a phenomenal host - she met me upon arrival and gave me a tour of her apartment and showed me where everything was and how everything worked. She also had maps & books of/about Brooklyn that were quite useful as well. Erika was very attentive, communication with her was effortless. Her place is very clean, very well kept up to date and cozy. Perfect stay for 2 and her futon mattress was so comfortable! Location was also great! Minutes away from the Brooklyn Museum and a 8 minute cab ride to the Barclays Center. 20-25minutes subway ride to Manhattan. An array of 4 star restaurants in her neighborhood that I looked up on yelp, so finding good eats was never an issue, there were grocery stores nearby as well. My overall stay exceeded my expectations. I couldn't of asked for more. I highly recommend staying at Erika's place in BK. I am definitely looking her up again when I visit again in the new year.
Excellent location to subway and Prospect park. Quiet peaceful nights sleep. We will stay here again. Thanks Erica
We spent 4 days at this studio in Brooklyn which is a perfect place to explore New York . Very easy and quick access to subway lines to Manhattan. Nice neighborhood with restaurants and shops nearby, as well as the Brooklyn botanic garden and the Brooklyn Museum. Erika herself was very helpful and reliable in everything, making the stay absolutely comfortable. Last not least, the studio itself is very pleasant, with fittings and furnishings in best Swedish style. We can recommend Erikas studio unreservedly and we hope we can stay there again next time we come to New York.
This place is fantastic! Perfect little spot in Brooklyn. clean, comfy, full cable, close to train, quiet, safe, private. Amazing! Would definitely stay again, and recommend to all my people.
CONSIGLIATISSIMO.
