Step back in time when you stay in this rare and perfectly secluded 17-18th century manor house where poet Dylan Thomas lived during the war; enjoy tranquil views of organic pasture from your luxuriously regal four-poster bed, with en suite bathroom, tea/ coffee making facilities, free Wifi and delicious buffet breakfast .
15 minutes from the coast and Aberaeron, half an hour south of Aberystwyth, 10 minutes from Lampeter, and 2 miles from local shops and amenities, Gelly is perfectly situated for exploring all of West Wales' beautiful beaches or the famous Dylan Thomas Trail.

Lo spazio
Gelly is a house in two parts; the original farmhouse, now inhabited by Rolanda and her family, was built in 1690. The Guest room is situated in the newer Georgian end of the house, where Dylan Thomas famously rented a room with his wife Caitlin during the second world war. With a fabulously comfortable eighteenth-century king-size four-poster bed complete with hand-painted silk hangings, you will be guaranteed a comfortable (and perhaps romantic) night. Relax in the sizeable en suite bath with views over the garden and no one to see in, except perhaps a few cows in the field beyond, or a squirrel. The depth of quiet here is amazing, and optional shutters as well as curtains keep the morning light at bay for that well-earned lie-in. Fall asleep to the hooting of owls and wake to the melancholy whistling cry of the Red kite!

Accesso per gli ospiti
The Georgian part of the house, where you will stay, has its own private front door, unused by the family, so you will have as much privacy as you would like.
Access is down the very leafy and mysterious front drive, with a charming and unique thatched lodge as you enter. Beware, the gates are a little narrow - but perfectly passable - unless you're driving an HGV!

Altre cose da tenere a mente
Breakfast includes tea, coffee, cereal, toast, fruit and locally baked organic sourdough bread with our own marmalade and honey or Bonne Maman jam. Please advise of any special dietary requirements, or just your favourite choice of milk (skimmed, semi, whole, soya, rice, oat, almond, goat's... any more?)
We are very lucky to have natural spring water coming out of the taps.

Surrounded by farmland, the house is well removed (and completely hidden) from the road - a welcome escape from the noise and bustle of city life; come here to unwind, renew your spirits or reconnect with yourself (and each other). Guests have access to the idyllic front garden where you can sit and drink tea, go for a walk or simply breathe in the sweet Welsh air. Three white geese and some friendly hens may wander past but will not disturb you.
Nature is abundant here - a recent unexpected visitor was a hedgehog in the hallway, but outside is a birdwatcher's paradise. Apart from the daily Red Kite flyovers, we have resident jays, woodpeckers, Barn and Tawny owls, herons and many besides. Moles, toads, shrews, badgers, peacock butterflies are all familiar.

Durante il tuo soggiorno
A connecting door separates the two ends of the house, giving you complete privacy and peace and quiet; however I will be available when needed and if a knock doesn't find me, the phone should do the trick.
