My sister and I stayed for a month, the apartment was perfect for our needs. The location is the biggest selling point! It is close to the Natural History Museum, Central Park, the subway, and great restaurants. Brian was an excellent host, very easy to communicate with.
I stayed 6 weeks in Brian's studio for work and everything was exactly as described. The room was more than enough for me and Brian was very convenient for the check-in and the check-out. The appartment is a little bit nosy because on the 1st floor, but nothing too serious
The location is perfect: one block from Central Park, close to many restaurants, bars, etc. and one block from 2 subways lines (B&C).
I would definitely come back here if I could !
A great studio apartment in the UWS. Very quiet neighborhood and equally quiet building. I stayed here for 2 months, with my small dog, while working in NYC. Close to Central Park, AMNH, and many other attractions. A block from the subway (B & C line). Many restaurants nearby with ample amounts of delivery options. The apartment was clean, supplied with fresh linens, plenty of hot water, dishes, utensils, cookware, etc. Brian was quick to assist with any issues with the apartment.
There were a few drawbacks:
You share the Internet with the building, I'm pretty sure the router was on the 2nd or 3rd floor, so the Internet from the apt was spotty & slow at times.
Just a word of warning for those using AT&T for cell service, for me it was difficult getting and retaining a signal in the apartment.
While the stovetop worked, the oven did not. I didn't learn of this until I checked in. Brian stated that he could have it fixed, but I never pushed the issue. When cooking for one, I rarely use the oven.
Overall it was a pleasant stay and I would highly recommend it!
Hi! Our journey was great even if Sandy was there! The studio was well situated and all comfort! Near Central Park and Museum of Natural History. Subway is right the corner. Try it! :-)
We had a really pleasant week. The apartment is fully equipped. Enough space for 4 people. Really close from Central Park, subway station and shops.
We spent a week in Bryan's Studio. It is in a perfect location, in the upper west side of the city, near the Natural History Museum. This is a very safe place, with grocery stores and restaurant nearby. It is perfect for staying, the subway is very close, also the buses. Excelent option for the price. Bryan was very exact in his description and conditions, so you can trust him.
The apartment was really great. We loved being so close to everything. Near the apartment there were tons of delis, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and Central Park and the Museum of Natural History. The location would definitely be the highlight of this apartment. There were however a few things that bothered us:
1. Being on the ground floor, we didn't feel comfortable opening our curtains, as people can see in quite easily. This meant the place was very dark most of the time. On top of this, there was no light fixed to the ceiling - just bedside table lamps, and another lamp here and there in the corners of the room. The largest lamp in the room, which is probably meant to compensate for not having a ceiling light didn't even work. So in summary, it was quite dark most of the time.
2. The air-con did a great job keeping the apartment cool. Even when the weather was in the high 90s, we were still very comfortable. But it had a chamber in the bottom which filled up every 3 hours, and had to be emptied down the sink. This got really annoying, especially at night. We stayed there for 2 weeks, and not once did we have an uninterupted night's sleep because of that stupid air-con. (Up 3 times every night to empty it). Bryan showed us how to empty it in the beginning, "just in case, but you probably won't need to do it for the rest of your stay" is what he said to us. Every 3 hours we had to empty it. Did he think we were only staying for 3 hours?
3. One morning Bryan rang the doorbell and woke us up. My partner, Sean got up to answer the door and was told that the exterminator would need to come in for a couple of minutes. Sean told Bryan that we weren't notified of this, and that it wasn't fair to do this without notice. Bryan told him that the information about the exterminator is in the book next to the front door. We had a look, and down the bottom of the page it said that the exterminator comes on the first Thursday of every month, and to please be prepared to let him in. We thought that something like this should have been mentioned to us when we were face to face. Bryan seems to be the landlord for most apartments in this building, and we could hear all the other tenants refusing entry as well. I think Bryan needs to learn a lesson in communication. Also - while looking through this book, it said that Bryan is allowed to come into the apartment any day (unannounced) to show the apartment to prospective renters. We didn't feel comfortable knowing that he might be letting himself into our apartment unannounced while we were out - or in.
All in all, I would stay there again, as long as Bryan fixes that air-con, and installs a working ceiling light.
Brian was in time for everything.
He provides all the basic utensils you may need as well as towels, sheets etc
The studio is only 1 1/2 block to the subway station, museum, good restorants with diferent kind of cuisine, very safe neighbourhood
The only problem for me was the noise ,buzzer, outdoor rubbish .
Me and my three friends stayed in Brians apartment. It was absolutely great. Everything went really smooth and worked out perfect. No complaints at all!
Really loved our stay at Brian's appartment. Great location for visiting the city. With everything nearby. The only thing that wasn't that great was the internet. Is was definitely not high-speed!
