Outside: 4 seasons of awesome!

FALL: Most blissful time of quiet and color. Biking, hiking, kayaking, SUP all still amazing. Wildlife, especially Bears and Wild Mustangs are most active in the Fall. Watch bears feed on salmon at Taylor Creek, or track unique and migrating birds, as you walk the 2-mile loop around Spooner Lake, which also is the best place to enjoy the Aspens incredible full fall color display. Great time to take mountain hikes for color and coolness, or enjoy local cultural, heritage and artistic events and happenings throughout the watershed.

WINTER: You will be at the doorstep to some of Tahoe's best back country activities!
Mt Rose back country is 6 miles from the house; snow shoe the meadows and smile when the Chickadee bird lands on your outstretched hand...or head right out the door up the hill or east to Hidden Beach. X-Country ski at Spooner (12 miles southeast), Tahoe Vista Regional Park (7 miles west), Tahoe City (10 miles west).
SKI RESORTS: You will be located right below Diamond Peak Ski area - free shuttles leave 2 blocks from your door.

Mt Rose - 6-7 miles (20 min drive)
Northstar - 12 miles (about 15 to 30 min depending on traffic)
Heavenly - 24 miles (45 min drive) to South Shore
Alpine or Squaw - 18 miles (30 to 90 minutes depending on traffic)
Homewood - 20 miles (50 min + depending on traffic). The TART bus will also take you to Homewood.

Tahoe's Spring Magic...with all our new snow winter sports are still pumping. Commune with our Chickadees on Mt Rose Meadows, walk the interpretive trail at Sand Harbor, or the view-rich Tunnel Creek Trail to where Mark Twain's first smiled on Tahoe. Wind through the Tahoe Regional Park, bike along the Truckee River or kayak to Hidden Beach. Check out the 3D movie at TERC on how Tahoe came to be. Experience native Washoe Heritage at the Gatekeepers Museum, learn to weave a basket or craft a gathering pouch. Or just sit by the lake gather your peace, reflect your beauty and ponder the gifts of water.

SUMMER: Enjoy kayaking or paddling or hiking 1.5 miles to Hidden Beach. Mountain bike to Tunnel Creek Station to take on the famous Flume Trail (ends 1 mile from house). Enjoy a 2 mile wildlife walk around Spooner Lake, or explore our 'wild' beaches 6 miles down along the east shore: Secret Harbor, Whale or Chimney Beach. Hike into Nevada State Park (the trail head is 1 mile from the house) . Or relax in lounge chairs provided at Incline Resident beaches you will have passes to. Bus w/ bikes to Tahoe City and bike along the Truckee River and/or bike-friendly west shore full of native plants and wildlife. Summer outdoor concerts, theater, special events and spontaneous happenings add to summer evening ambiance.

You are walking distance from: Mtn High Deli, Lone Eagle Grill (at Lake), Big Water Grill (view of Lake) Sierra Nevada College, Hyatt Spa, and Incline Recreation Center. This location provides outdoor recreation options that do not require a car!

The neighborhood has walking access to some of the most incredible trails in the basin!

It is less than 1 mile from Tunnel Creek Trailhead which leads to the famous Flume Trail! It is on the edge of town and at the beginning of the NV State Parks and all the wild beaches of the east shore. It is right below a local ski resort which creates awesome uphill hikes and right up the street from the lake, the Tahoe Environmental Center and Sierra Nevada College!

Please do not bother, or use the driveway to turn around, at 1050 (the next house up the hill)

The local TART bus stop is 1/4 mile from the house (ask about passes) and the ski shuttle 1 block. You can easily bike to anything in the town

PLEASE! Do NOT bother the uphill neighbor. If you can't find the house, call anytime of day (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).

No smoking anywhere on the property. The Tahoe forest is very dry and vulnerable to the slightest spark.

PLEASE do NOT use the (uphill) neighbors driveway to turn around - use the street. And if you park on the street, please park closest to my driveway, as the uphill neighbor needs 4 ft street clearance to clear his driveway.

Consideration: While each quest space is private, the house is NOT sound-proof (or child-proof). Quiet time is from 10:00pm to 8am. Please let us know if your peace is disturbed or you require quiet time outside of those hours, so we can accomadate.
FYI: Nevada casinos and bars are open 24 hrs for any late night parties.
.
Hygiene: Please bathe before using the Hot Tub, as we use minimal Bromine.

Responsibility: We gladly provide kayaks, bikes, SUP Boards, sleds, snow shoes for your use. We may need to assign use times depending on demand, require the signing of a liability waiver and ask you return it in the condition you found it and let us know of any problems that arise.

Sustainable Tahoe's mission is to enroll visitors in activities that deepen your connection to the water, land, wildlife and air...while reducing your carbon footprint. This way we all contribute to preserving our National Treasure of Tahoe for the future.

So...as AirBnB Superhosts, and founders of Sustainable Tahoe, our passion is sharing Geotourism adventures, activities and insight. That is why we provide you with mountain bikes, SUP Boards, kayak, beach passes, maps and access, so you can get closer to the magic in the mountain lake paradise we call home.

My (Jacquie) hosting skills also have roots in my clothing design, environmental activist and corporate story coach careers. As a Primal Designer, I created the leather wardrobe on the Nat Geo TV Show "The Legend of Mick Dodge" and have shown guests how to make their own sheepskin slippers (Tahoe Toastums). As a Corporate Story Coach for 10 years, I helped sales and marketing executives reach revenue goals. As co-creator of the 'Earthgym' practice, I've led classes and demonstrations at schools, colleges, festivals and with guests on how to stretch or tone with a stick or a stone.

David Colley, co-host, is a skateboard designer, craftsman, welder, electrician and engineer, David uses his creative skills in property upkeep, helping with neighborhood and community needs and supporting guest adventures. Some recent local projects include welding and engineering support on the Mazu Temple at Burning Man, co-creating "Wet Toes Adventures" (the best way to experience the east shore by water) and creating "SmArt Bear Boxes" that keep our bears safe with artful trash receptacles.

Some of our fun and favorite Tahoe activities include:
1. Walking up the forest mountain backyard to say good morning to the lake
2. Swimming, SUP or kayaking anywhere along the east shore
3. Mountain biking the 'Incline Flume' Trail (that ends at the house)
4. SUP at dawn or sunset to lie on the board and feel the pulse of the water
5. X-Country Skiing or Snowshoe on Mt Rose to hand feed the Chickadees
6. Taking Bus w/bikes to Tahoe City and bike along Truckee River and then the Lake
7. Getting on the 'Wet Toes Adventure' boat to stroll along the east shore (and camp at remote beaches)
8. Rest in the backyard hammock watching wildlife

Welcome to our Water!
