The wild (free) beaches are about mile from the house and I can provide access to the exclusive 'resident beaches'. Bus w/ bikes to Tahoe City and bike along the Truckee River and/or bike-friendly west shore full of native plants and wildlife. Great time to take mountain hikes for color and coolness, or enjoy local cultural, heritage and artistic events and happenings throughout the watershed.
WINTER: You will be at the doorstep to some of Tahoe's best back country activities!
Mt Rose back country is 6 miles from the house; snow shoe the meadows and smile when the Chickadee bird lands on your outstretched hand...or head right out the door up the hill or east to Hidden Beach. The neighborhood has walking access to some of the most incredible trails in the basin!
It is less than 1 mile from Tunnel Creek Trailhead which leads to the famous Flume Trail! It is on the edge of town and at the beginning of the NV State Parks and all the wild beaches of the east shore. It is right below a local ski resort which creates awesome uphill hikes and right up the street from the lake, the Tahoe Environmental Center and Sierra Nevada College! Please do not bother, or use the driveway to turn around, at 1050 (the next house up the hill)
The local TART bus stop is 1/4 mile from the house and the ski shuttle 1 block. You can easily bike to anything in the town
PLEASE! Do NOT bother the uphill neighbor. If you can't find the house - call me, or knock on the duplex doors 1047 across the street (they are friendly)
No smoking anywhere on the property. The Tahoe forest is very dry and vulnerable to the slightest spark.
PLEASE do NOT use the (uphill) neighbors driveway to turn around (use the street). And if you park on the street (because your car is to low to make my driveway, or both spaces are taken) then please park closest to my driveway, as the uphill neighbor needs 4-5 ft street clearance to clear his driveway.
Consideration: While each quest space is private, the house is not sound-proof (or child-proof), so being quiet after 10:00 pm is appreciated and important :). (Nevada casinos and bars are open 24 hrs for the late night crowd)
Please bathe before using the Hot Tub, as we use minimal Bromine.
Responsibility: We gladly provide kayaks, bikes, sleds, snow shoes and any other equipment for your use, we only ask you return it in the condition you found it and let us know of any problems that arise.
Ruth was very nice and knew a lot about the weather and the area. She offered us breakfast, fruit, coffee and tea and left a note if she left with her number and was always available to us if we needed anything. Room was very clean and comfortable. Parking was great, a nice neighborhood too!
Booked this last minute for my boyfriend and I for a weekend getaway from San Francisco. The experience was seamless. Ruth warned us about the snowy forecast, left the light on and made entry easy to navigate in the dark to our room. After driving with chains in snow for an hour, we slept soundly until the late morning. The king bed is ultra comfortable. Breakfast was delightful and we enjoyed hearing more about the area from Ruth. Every part of the home and experience was thoughtfully considered. I would stay again :)
We had enjoyed staying at Big Water Access very much. First of all the room and the bathroom had all of essentials we needed. It was also conveniently located minutes away from the food, supermarket, and hiking trails. Ruth was our host, she was very sweet and welcoming, she gave us great advices about hiking and biking. We utilized two mountain bikes provided and went to bike the famous flume trail. It was amazing, life changing experience. We also utilized hot tab, which was nice and very clean - great way of relaxation after the active day. I would highly recommend staying at Big Water Access.
Unbelievably positive first experience with AirBnB, I am totally hooked and evangelizing. Jacquie was a dream to stay with. What a rare treat to meet someone who is so genuinely gracious, generous, and kind. She went out of her way to guide us (my boyfriend and I) to the best trails to hike/bike and made sure we were cared for. When I decided last minute that I wanted to take bicycle spin the morning before we checked out, she literally dropped what she was doing and ran to a neighbor's house to secure a usable set of wheels for me. Unbelievable! She could teach hospitality 101.
The room was luxuriously spacious yet warm and had an incredible private bathroom. There is a hot tub on the front deck. The price is a steal. Don't even get me started about the kale chips. You'll never want to leave! The next time I come to North Lake Tahoe, I won't stay anywhere else! If you're even thinking about staying here, just book it. You won't regret it.
Michelle was an awesome host from welcoming us into the Casa, telling us all of the cool places to go and making sure we were taken care of. The bedroom is great - especially the shower! Really close to awesome hikes! Would definitely stay here again :)
I felt very welcomed in this house. It was a beautiful 2 story house with a great jacuzzi, very comfortable beds and many amenities and accommodations. Host was very knowledgeable about the area and give us some great tips on some hikes, shops and restaurants.
It was our first time in Lake Tahoe. Michelle, who was filling in for Jacquie, made our experience wonderful. She made us breakfast, gave us directions for the local eateries, let us borrow the bikes, you name it... Wonderful experience and would recommend to anybody:)

Location is at the base of the Tunnel Creek Trail. Perfect for getting a healthy meal, coffee, snack, before or after your adventure. Manged by Max Jones, the guy who built the famous Flume Trail.
Right on the beach! Great place to watch sunset, spend an evening by the fire pit outside with roaming musicians, interesting people, or on the pier above the water, feeling the peace.

While we love everything on this 5-Star menu, the fusion food is our favorite, and Thursday night...its ha(email hidden)bar - best deal at Tahoe!
