I am so sorry the skeeters and possibly a tiny spider got you. I do try to be upfront both in the Airbnb description and in further screening of potential guests that might feel squeemish about bugs, that the Sun Porch is like "comfy camping." The bed is definitely more comfortable then a therma-rest mat on the ground, and there is clear Lexon roof over your head, as well as a table, loveseat and two desks, kitchen and bathroom access. But the porch door is not air tight, nor or the eaves of the ceiling. Spring time in Austin, especially after a lot of rain, brings mosquitoes and a possibly other bugs. I had pre-treated the yard and room for both, as well as for spiders. I try to use poisons sparingly both for human safety and the environment. I sleep out there often myself because I enjoy it and don't have as much problem with itchy bites that younger women and men do, so I suspect the hormones of younger folk might attract them. A guest told me that mosquitoes are definitely more attracted to perfuming soaps and shampoos, and smokers. So please keep this in mind folks, when booking the sun porch.
