Jeremy and Michèle welcome you to Chantegrel, just to the north-east of Sarlat la Caneda, near the village of Proissans. We are a bi-lingual (English/French) couple who have lived in the area for the last 14 years. Our property is situated in a secluded part of the countryside and is surrounded by forest, and at the same time is only 5 minutes by car from the centre of the medieval town Sarlat la Caneda. In short we are well placed for all of the major attractions in this beautiful area of France.
Now that our children have left home we are left with a large house with four spare bedrooms. Thus we have four double bedrooms available. This advert is for Emilie’s room, approximately 15m² with ample wardrobe space and more than sufficient room for a travel cot. There is a separate bathroom (shower, no bath) for the sole use of this bedroom.
Please note that we do not do chambre d’hote, that is evening meals. We are more than pleased to advise you on the best places to eat locally, outside of the normal tourist ‘trap’ restaurants there are some outstanding restaurants in the area. Equally we will be pleased to advise you on where to go, and more importantly on how to get there. In the main summer season, knowing how to avoid the local bottlenecks is as important as knowing what to visit

Besides your bedroom you have access to a private bathroom (with shower, no bath). The toilet is separate and just outside the bedroom door. Breakfast is available in our large lounge/kitchen (90m²), or, you may eat outside. Breakfast is continental in style and is self-service (between 7.45am and 9.30am). Fresh bread supplied from the village each morning. You also have access to the pool (see extra details).

Chantegrel is our home and as we both work from home we are around most of the time. I am generally more available than Michèle, so if you need to know what to do, where to go and how to get there, please just ask me.

The local village is just over 2kms from Chantegrel. In Proissans you will find a good local restaurant, boulangerie (recommended), a butcher's and a tennis court is available for hire from the local Mairie. If walking or cycling is counted amongst your passions then you will not be disappointed. The local area is rich in marked paths for the keen walker and there is a mixture of cycle paths and small local roads for the cycling enthousiast.
We are just over 4kms from the medieval centre of Sarlat. Market days are Saturday (main) and Wednesday (mainly fresh produce). From early to mid-June onwards the street entertainment in Sarlat is always good value.

Although we are only a short distance from Sarlat we really are in the countryside. As with most country areas in France there is no public transport. Therefore your own means of transport is essential. We have plenty of parking space.

We have a large swimming pool. The pool itself is in excess of 90m², the pool surround close to 150m². The pool is unheated, the shallow end is 90cms deep and at its deepest is 2m10. Please note the pool is alarmed, is surrounded by a wall, but is not surrounded by a ‘security fence’. Due to the size of the pool and the difficulty of adequately fencing it we have chosen the legal option of 2 pool alarms. This pool is available for your use. The pool is available for use from 8th June onwards. Please note that all children who are minor should be accompanied at all times.

By law, guests have to pay a tourism tax. The 2016 rate is €0.77 per person per night. This fee should be settled with the owners before departure.
