One of few properly child friendly properties in the area, La Bougainvillea not only has a large fenced private pool but there are toys, a flat lawned garden, a slide and swings.
La Bougainvillea is made up of two separate houses, a traditional restored conical roofed 'trullo' house for 4 and a villa for 6 which can be rented separately or together. Surrounded by a pretty lawned garden with olive and fruit trees, each house has its own dining area and barbecue. A poolside dining area, fenced pool, garden and play area are shared by guests from both houses.
The discreet owners are parents themselves and are on hand to offer advice and tips for parents looking to experience the best of Puglia with young children, from child friendly beaches to cookery lessons and horse riding. An informal cook service, babysitting and massages can also be arranged.
La Bougainvillea is surrounded by fields and olive groves in the rolling hills of the Valle D'Itria, an area known for its olive oil, white villages, trullo houses and gentle pace of life. Just a short drive away is the UNESCO heritage site of Alberbello, a village of ancient trullos which is well worth visiting. Other characteristic hill towns such as Locorotondo and Ostuni are fun to discover with the family. Further afield are sandy beaches and the beautiful baroque town Lecce with its Roman and Greek amphitheatres. If you are staying at cooler times of the year heating is available and if you would like it putting on it is charged locally based on usage. LPG (gas) readings would be taken and charged at the going rate of €3.20 per cubic metre.
The Villa, la Bougainvillea - sleeps 6-8
The villa has been designed and furnished carefully to complement the style of the Trullo, using local stone and craftmanship. The result is a spacious and welcoming single storey home with an open plan living space, ideal for families with young children. A kitchen with dining table for 8 opens to a sitting room/play area and outside dining area. The Villa has two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom which is a good set up for a family of four to six with grandparents or two couples with children. Separate from the Trullo, the Villa has a private outside dining area with the shared garden surrounding it and the all important shared fenced pool and play area.
