Looking for a home away from home that feels like a private house from which you can walk to the very best LA has to offer? Then the Los Feliz Village Bungalow is for you. This adorable place is 800 square feet of comfort, privacy and style. The windows look out to greenery or private gardens. It is a quiet ground floor unit in a lovely early 1920s one story duplex. Fully renovated with a delightful contemporary style while keeping the original period character.
The rooms are all lovely, and well-appointed: a fully supplied kitchen with wonderful Okeefe & Merritt vintage stove, copper pots and Italian pottery. An incredibly comfortable king bed. A renovated bathroom with clawfoot tub. A breezy, stylish living room and dining area with graceful mahogony table. A serene little private office. Two well-appointed, shaded outdoor garden sitting areas surrounded by bougainvillea, Mexican bamboo and ornamental grasses. And four raised vegetable beds with organic produce for you to sample.
As far as amenities - wireless internet throughout the property, a large flat screen tv with cable and HBO, a Bose ipod speaker station, organic cotton bathrobes and slippers, and all the privacy and comfort you could want.
Please feel free to email with any requests or travel advice for the city - we know it very well and are right close by! (the apartment is also stocked with delightful welcome booklets mapping the very best of everything nearby and with instructions on how to use everything). Los Feliz Village is a terrific, very central place to base yourself, and there is very easy bus and metro access to Hollywood, Silver Lake, Downtown and much of the city. We hope you make yourselves fully at home, and enjoy the very best of what LA has to offer! Bon Voyage!
But the best part may be the location. A wonderful, tree-lined block with old Craftsman homes hidden in the very heart of the Village, but just steps away from all you could want.
Some highlights within two blocks:
Cafe Figaro, Fred 62, Niko Niko Sushi, Home, The Dresden, Los Feliz 3 Cinema, the wonderful Skylight Books, great newsstand, pharmacy, terrific boutiques
Highlights within four blocks:
Alcove Cafe, Covell Wine Bar, Umami Burger, Mother Dough pizza, Rockwell Vt, Electric Lotus, Starbucks, Steven Alan, Confederacy, pilates and yoga studios, art galleries, library, liquor store, bank, post office, bus and metro stops.
Not only is it near several Metro and bus lines, but they are walkable - a rare thing indeed in Los Angeles.
Please no pets, though we love them. The original floors are stained a cheery and dramatic white, and the furniture is all quite nice, and we would like to do what we can to keep it all that way.
We would really appreciate it if you didn't smoke in the apartment. There are three delightful outdoor sitting areas within steps of the front door for your use as you wish.
The gardens and sitting areas are for your comfort and enjoyment, but please try to keep noise to a minimum after 10pm. There are children sleeping nearby.
But, most importantly, enjoy yourself!
Second time we stayed at Eliot's place, and we loved it as much as the first time. Everything went smooth and even though we didn't meet Eliot that much, he's been the perfect host. The neighborhood, Los Feliz, is perfect for whatever you need and have lots of good places for wine and dine, all in walking distance. If you are looking for a place where you can feel at home, this is the one!
This man is a hospitality pro. Staying here is basically what the Ace Hotel wishes it could be -- genuinely cool (great, authentic taste that's a mix of scandinavian minimalism and california quaint), really functional and easy to use (vintage stove works perfectly, exactly what you need to cook, work -- there's a small office! -- bathe in a clawfoot tub, do your laundry -- there's a laundry room! -- and entertain a few guests if you want to). Above all, it's incredibly private. The neighborhood, Los Feliz, is car-optional: you can walk to Silverlake's coffee-shop row in 15 minutes, and Los Feliz itself is charming and handy for anything you might need, including a rental car office around the corner if you do decide you wanna hit the freeway. VERY recommended.
Staying at this air bnb was a great experience. My schedule was quite busy so I only met Eliot once but he was very quick to respond with any question.
The space was designed beautifully, bed was super comfy, it really had everything I needed. Loved sitting in the yard in the sun too. Thanks for the great stay on this awesome neighborhood Eliot! I'll be back!
We had an outstanding visit to LA, thanks to Eliot's beautiful, comfortable bungalow. It felt like home. The location could not be better and the house had everything we needed. It feels so bright and sunny--a perfect place to stay in LA.
Eliot was very helpful and promptly answered questions prior to my visit. The bungalow is EXACTLY as described. Location, location, location - PERFECT for getting to studios/universal/Toluca lake/north Hollywood, as well as Hollywood Boulevard. Absolutely couldn't be more convenient to Griffith Park, hiking to Hollywood sign, and stunning views of LA from Griffith observatory. Even quick to Santa Monica if you want to be a tourist and visit the pier (which we did - about 45 mins with fairly heavy traffic, not bad!) Los Feliz village has so many great restaurants within easy walking distance that once you find that coveted street parking spot, you don't have to move again. I did have to use the paid public parking lot a few times, but this was not inconvenient.
The kitchen has all the basics, the bed/mattress are very comfortable, the living area and small office allow for two people to spread out a little into their own space as desired. There was plenty of drawer space for two women (mother and tween daughter) to put clothes away and hang them, despite our horrible over-packing!
The wi-fi is fast and we never had a glitch the entire 10 days. Super important for us as we were regularly communicating with my daughter's manger while there and needed to use laptop/devices to send important documents, photos, etc quite a lot.
Prior to arrival, I was concerned a bit about security, as my daughter and I were traveling without my husband, but those concerns were quickly allayed after a short day/night at the bungalow. The neighborhood is so safe and quiet! While there constantly seem to be people about walking on the streets, it is a quiet residential neighborhood with many permanent homeowners. Which increases the safety factor for me. I felt quite good knowing Eliot and his family live nearby. My daughter and I both thoroughly enjoyed this charming home and both want to stay here again next time we return to LA. My only hope is it will be available! You will not be disappointed with the charm or location of this home. Look no further if you desire a charming bungalow just right for two people in a perfect location for most of LA's offerings, and in one of the most desirable neighborhoods, full of charm and good restaurants. Thank you, Eliot, for hosting us!
Eliot is a wonderful host very interested in making the stay enjoyable. The home is warm and bright just as pictured. The neighborhood was artsy and had great restaurants and shops all in walking distance. It was surprisingly quiet neighborhood. I really enjoyed staying there. I felt safe in Los Feliz.
