The Arbuthnott Holiday Cottages are situated in North-East Scotland some two hours north of Edinburgh and half-an-hour south of Aberdeen. We are three miles from the coast with easy access to Royal Deeside. There is a good road network around Arbuthnott making it an ideal location from which to explore much of Scotland. The East Coast Railway Line runs from Stonehaven or Montrose (both about 12 miles), and more recently Laurencekirk (5 miles). There are airports at Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh.
The Old Village School has been converted and divided into three comfortable two-story houses called Sunset Song, Cloud Howe and Grey Granite. This was formerly Lewis Grassic Gibbon's school so the houses are named after his well known trilogy - A Scot's Quair. Each house has a different outlook and because of the design one is not aware of anyone else being around. They all have the same number of rooms but the layout and decor is different in each.
