Descrizione

Monaco is a quiet and picturesque sea side suburb 15 minutes drive from the Nelson CBD. We are in a sunny and private location with great views. Our house is an ideal place to relax and unwind or use as a base for exploring the Nelson region.

Our house was built in the 1970s and we have furnished it in a mid century style complemented by our collection of works by NZ artists.

There is a choice of two bedrooms, one king or twin beds, the other has a queen bed. You have private use of the bathroom facilities in the morning and evening. There is a separate shower, separate toilet and separate bathroom.

There is a large open plan living and dining room for you to use. The sunny deck has great views and is an ideal place to enjoy a meal or read a book.

There is ample off street parking and sufficient room for a campervan or boat.

We have free WiFi, Sky TV and stereo. The house has a lift for your luggage and you if you don’t like steps.

The rate is for one person per room and includes a continental breakfast of muesli, fruit, (usually) home made bread, toast, local jams, Pics' famous peanut butter, tea/coffee and juice.

We are keen and competent cooks and can provide you with a cooked breakfast. We are also happy to provide you a healthy home cooked dinner using fresh local ingredients. Cooked meals are available by prior arrangement.

The welcoming committee includes Gus the greyhound. We are pet friendly and well behaved dogs are welcome to stay. We are fully fenced.

Waimea Estuary is the largest estuary in the South Island and is home to wide range of bird life; terns, herons, oyster catchers, kingfishers, spoonbills (occasionally) and of course seagulls. We also have the usual songbirds waxeyes and finches.

At high tide the sea can comes up to the road at the end of our driveway. It is an ideal spot for kayaking, windsurfing and swimming. We are a couple of minutes away from the boat ramp and jetty. The jetty is a popular spot for taking a dip and fishing. We have a small sit on kayak if you want to have a paddle.

Cycling is very popular around here. We are 3 minutes from the Great Taste Trail, an extensive country and coastal cycle trail that takes in the best the region has to offer. We have two mountain bikes available for you to use. There is a near new women’s bike with step through frame and a recently serviced gents bike. Helmets and Hi Viz jackets are provided.

Other attractions include local craft breweries, wineries, cafes, art galleries and Nelson’s famous Saturday Market.

You have access to your own bathroom, toilet and shower in the morning, we have a separate one we use.

You can use our kitchen to cook your evening meal by prior arrangement.

Tea and coffee making facilities including basic espresso machine are available in the kitchen.

You can use the bicycles for no extra charge, there are fishing rods if you want to try your luck off the jetty at high tide and a sit on kayak if you want to have a paddle.

We both work from home and are around during the day. We are happy to share our house with you.

Monaco is a popular destination for walkers, joggers, cyclists, boaties, kayakers, dog owners and people who like being by the sea enjoying the views and sunsets.

We enjoy the ever changing view of the sea and hills from our house, the closeness to the sea at high tide and the variety of bird life.

It has a public boat ramp, jetty, picnic areas, playground and, on the weekends a cafe (the Krusty Krab), a craft/gift shop and local artist’s studio all within a few minutes walk.

While we are close to the airport the planes are not intrusive. Commercial flights go around Monaco, not over it. In the weekend we enjoy the small aircraft that putter overhead from time to time.

We are a 15 minute drive from central Nelson and 5 mins from the local shopping centre and World of Wearable Arts complex and 10 minutes from the airport. The Honest Lawyer, a popular country style pub and the The Monaco Kitchen restaurant are a 20 minute stroll away.

Having your own transport is recommended. While we can provide airport transfers and you are welcome to use our bikes, your own car may come in handy for exploring and shopping etc. While Nelson does have public transport we are a 40 minute walk from the nearest bus stop.

We have the necessary certifications and licenses to provide transportation services for fee paying passengers. So if you would like airport transfers, wine tours, scenic drives or any other driving services we are happy to discuss your needs

You are welcome to stay with us for a maximum of 5 nights.

Imagine waking up to the aroma of freshly baked bread... We arrived on a very rainy day and received a warm welcome from Francie and Craig and their sweet dog Gus! It was very rainy while we were there but that didn't affect the lovely view of the Nelson bay from their deck. Very quiet and peaceful area with a fun pub and good restaurant nearby. We especially liked the fresh baked bread and jam for breakfast. Special thanks for all your recommendations but especially the one for Pic's Peanut Butter factory tour... Really fun!

Frances and Craig were great hosts during our 3 night stay. This was our first airbnb experience so we did not know what to expect. They were very hospitable and flexible (our schedule was rather erratic!). Monarco is beautiful at high tide and a relaxing place to walk. The neighbourhood is quiet and friendly and we had chats with the locals during our strolls. The use of the bicycles was helpful and Gus the greyhound is gentle and well behaved. Our room was very hot in the summer weather, but on the positive side I loved the espresso coffee.. flowers in every room... perfume selection available in the bathroom... plenty of seating indoors and out... fresh home grown fruit for breakfast... home made bread! Altogether many lovely personal touches that we appreciated. I felt relaxed there and Frances and Craig were very friendly and engaging.

We were welcomed and given a tour of the rooms. As first time airb&b users we were not sure what to expect. The upstairs facility was somewhat difficult for my wife, as has had surgery in both knees. The location is in close proximity to the Nelson airport, with tidal estuary almost surrounding the area that made it very picturesque at full tide. Our host and hostess were friendly. I have no idea as to how they would rate, as we had no previous experience to draw from.

Risposta di Frances:
Thanks for your feedback Ken. Dorothy would have been welcome to use the elevator if we had realised she was having problems with the stairs. I hope the rest of your holiday went well.

Our first Airbnb experience and what a pleasure it was! Craig and Frances were fantastic hosts and really made us feel welcome. We were treated to delicious homemade breads and loved waking up and going to bed with a warm fire. Their B&B is in an ideal location- easy access to the shops and walking paths and surrounded by so much beauty! Such a warm and lovely experience. And of course Gus the Greyhound was our favourite :)

Frances and Craig are real Superhosts! Their house is perfectly located to enjoy Nelson with its Wineries and Craftbeer houses or to explore Able Tasman. Both made our stay perfect and we can recommend to stay at anytime. We also could use their bikes and rods as we liked. And we now understand a bit more of rugby!

We received warm hospitality in a beautiful home right across the street from the sea; not much more one could ask for. This B&B offers great comfort with thoughtful hosts that will make your stay in Nelson unforgettable. Breakfasts with freshly baked bread each morning was a real treat.
