Stay at Bachuil Country House to enjoy all that the stunning island of Lismore has to offer, from cycling to birdwatching. Just a short ferry from Oban, we offer AA 4* Guest Accommodation for up to 6 guests in 3 comfortable en-suite rooms.
Hospitality has been a feature at Bachuil for centuries – it is in our blood. On arrival guests will be welcomed and have a chance to relax in the garden or drawing room. Our bedrooms are comfortably furnished and all include en-suite facilities and free wi-fi access. After a sound nights sleep, we hope you will enjoy a good breakfast, provided in part by our own hens.
Evening meals on Lismore. The cafe is open for evening meals on Thursday evening and a Fish and Chip van offering a varied menu has started on the island that does evening meals and takes orders. This is open every evening until at least 7pm.
It is possible to leave the island from the north end on the Port Appin Ferry (the foot passenger ferry – 10 minutes, probably taking the 6.20 from Lismore) to dine at either Airds Hotel or the Pier House. Both are very good for fish and seafood which we don't do here as Niall is allergic to fish! There are later ferries on Fridays and Saturdays and an 8pm every night in the Summer months.
For gastro diners there are several restaurants with an international reputation in and around Port Appin. Eating ‘ashore’ in the early evenings is feasible midweek from April to the end of October as you can get a 5 or 6 pm ferry and return from Port Appin at 8pm.

Interazione con gli ospiti
We interact with our guests on a personal level. We are always here to welcome guests and we often join our guests for dinner in the evening if they would like our company. Niall is very knowledgeable about the island as his family has been here since 562 AD - and always has good suggestions about what to see and do! He is the Coarb (successor) of St Moluag, Abbot of Lismore and is also Chief of Clan MacLea (anglicised as Livingstone). He holds the Bachuil Mor, the crozier of St Moluag, as the symbol of his office.
Altre cose da evidenziare
We strongly encourage people to come for 2 nights. There is so much to see and do here and the travelling involved with getting here to an island, one night is NOT enough!
Please note the price quoted is PER ROOM.
By prior arrangement we do allow well behaved dogs, provided they sleep in the bathrooms!
There is no smoking in the house, but guests are welcome to smoke outside.
Bachuil is the home of the Barons of Bachuil, Coarbs of St Moluag, Abbots of Lismore, and Chiefs of Clan Maclea who have lived here since St Moluag arrived in 562. Niall and Anita, the present Baron and Baroness, really look forward to seeing you!
