A light, airy, clean double bedroom in a tasteful Terrace house slap bang between York city centre and the University (10/15 mins walk to either). You have your own (downstairs) shower room and wifi. Shared kitchen/diner, living space and main bathroom with family. On street parking (no permit required). Close to shops, cafes, supermarkets and pubs

Lo spazio
Belle Vue Street is a pretty street only a 10 minute stroll to York city centre and all it has to offer. It has a mixture of people living there; students, families, professionals from all walks of life.

A spacious terrace house, with 2 living rooms and large light kitchen diner, your room is on the first floor and has a comfortable double bed and is a great space to relax in. You have sole use of the downstairs shower room and toilet whilst a guest, but are welcome to use the shared upstairs family bathroom too. The 2 living rooms mean there is always a space you can retreat to.

The well equipped kitchen is light and spacious and you are welcome to use it as you wish. Please help yourself to salt, pepper, oil, sugar, tea etc... my basics, are your basics! Please note - it is a family kitchen used on a daily basis, so it is not spotlessly clean, but it is very friendly and a great space to be in!

Of course there is free wifi in the house and I can show you how to use the Television too...

Accesso per gli ospiti
I am generally in the house when you arrive to welcome you and show you around and to your room (when I am not, I leave the key for you and there is information in the house for you), but you may have to lock up after yourself when you leave.

Altre cose da tenere a mente
Please do not smoke in the house, but feel free to smoke outside.

A lovely eclectic terraced street, 10 mins walk from the city centre with a vibrant mix of students, professionals, families and more. This is my community, so please respect my neighbours. The place is generally quiet between 11pm and 7am, this isn't the place to come to party!

More about York...

Belle Vue Street is a friendly terraced street popular with families, students and professionals. There are often kids playing out on the street, so please drive really carefully up and down it. A friendly ‘Hello’ to people on the street makes life sunnier!

A couple of minutes from the house on Heslington Road is the bohemian Bison coffee shop serving great coffee and bagels and sweet stuff. A handy ‘One Stop’ convenience store for any basics (milk, bread, biscuits, beer). Owl and Monkey is a lovely interior household shop too,

A 10 minutes walk away, on Foss Islands Road, you will find a large Waitrose and Morrisons supermarket where you can buy just about any groceries you need, as well as petrol.

For those more ‘independent’ minded, on Fishergate, 5 minutes walk away, is Alligator wholefood store and also Busk coffee shop.

There are plenty of pubs close by, including the Phoenix tucked just next to the city walls near the Barbican Centre and the Rook and Gaskill on Lawrence Street. The Garden of India on Fawcett Street does a good curry too.

The hip foodie street of Fossgate and Walmgate is an easy walk from the property, with a great mix of restaurants and bars. My favourite bar The Fossgate Social is here as well as the wonderful Bluebell pub and lots of great restaurants: Il Paradiso del Cibo (Sardinian), Oshibi (Korean), Barbakan (Polish), Khao San Road (Thai). There is also the super quaint Hairy Fig deli for that extra special ingredient. It’s a great street! Coffee at Spring is very good and the food at Kiosk is lovely.

Just around the corner, on Piccadilly is the box park Spark. A fun hip open air food hall space with lots of different street food, bars and cafes as well as a few shops and an open plan seating and garden area. I recommend Street Cleaver for Korean fare.

Micklegate on the other side of the river is a fast growing street for foodies. My absolute favourite place to eat in York is Partisan. The food is so fresh and the cakes enormous. Skosh is very very hip and very good, The Rattle Owl is also good. The Micklegate Social has good beer and coffee and a nice view of the walls.

And the famous High Street, Bishopthorpe Road (or Bishy Road as we call it) is great for cafes and little independents is not far away. Breakfast at Robinsons is really good.

Beer in the community pub The Golden Ball in Bishophill is good too.

Just next to Fishergate is the River Ouse and it’s many walking and cycle paths. From here you can head over the Millennium bridge to the wonderful Rowntree Park. Or you can take the scenic route to the centre where you will find such tourist delights as Clifford’s Tower, the Shambles, the Minster, Museum Gardens, Stonegate, Yorkshire Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre and National Railway Museum, not to mention lots of shopping.

In the centre of town is the independent cinema City Screen which has three screens showing the latest and a range of arty films. The cafe bar is has lovely views of the river.

Bettys is a famous Yorkshire tearoom serving the most amazing pastries in an elegant setting.

A few other ‘out of the way’ places worth discovering include: Grays Court, Chapter House Street for coffee and lunch and cocktails in a beautiful garden, Luxury Ice Cream Company on back Stonegate for guess what? fabulous ice cream.
