Experience your very own native Alaskan homestead the way they used to make em'. An all-inclusive vacation get-away, just 5 minutes from the best shopping, restaurants, medical and university districts, but best of all, all the exploring in the Chugach Mountains. Hands-down the best neighborhood in Anchorage - where you can have a wilderness adventure on a naturally-forested acre, with gardens, a few critters and the great outdoors.
Walking into this place is like walking into the set of a 1960's movie filmed in Alaska. A rustic homestead, taking in weary travelers just getting in from days spent in the mountains, hiking, fishing and exploring the last known frontier. Outside, nothing fancy. Nothing speaking of the city down the hill. No traffic noise. No manicured lawns. Just birch trees rustling in the breeze. Come spring, they'll be tapped for nectar boiled down to syrup and made into wine. Just a few beehives, abandoned for the winter. Come spring, they'll be buzzing and full of honey. A rickety old fence and a dozen chickens, pecking around, happy as can be. A couple cabins out back and a hammock catch your eye. A rooster pipes up, cock-a-doodle-doo! Instantly, you're taken back to days spent at Grandma's house in the country eating sourdough pancakes and home-cooked meals. You step inside and enter a cavernous dining area and social hall. Throughout the house, it's like a maze - so many rooms, so many halls, so many places to lounge around and reflect, or plan your next excursion. You step around the corner and walking past a bookcase, you notice light pouring out of a crack behind it. You pull on the bookcase. It magically it opens and the room you wanted as a kid awaits you.

The low-density neighborhood is situated in the foothills of the Chugach Mountains. Sparsly populated and friendly, the neighborhood is a hidden gem of Anchorage. Moose often run through (eat from our gardens), as well as the occasional bear. A dog and cat lived in this property and continue to visit on occasion. Because of the woodland location, we may also have small game from time to time, such as rabbits and field mice scurry around, stealing our chickens food in the yard. If you have allergies, or don't like animals, this property might not be a good fit.
Anchorage is fairly spread out and public transport is limited. You are encouraged to rent a car for convenience and safety.
