Claire's review is less than transparent (pun intended) and it IS quite unfortunate that she deemed this as an appropriate review for my home, for which she never spent a night in. Claire's booking came in just before 8pm the night before she arrived. As with ALL my previous bookings, I sent through a welcome response with contact details, property (including location) and destination information asking her to contact me for further information.
Prep for her arrival went into full swing and by noon the following day, as I did not hear from her after asking of her arrival time in the message; I phoned her unsuccessfully.
Just after 7pm on Claire's arrival day, my housekeeper called to advise that Claire contacted her (finally) to say that she was on her way to the house after getting a bite to eat. On arrival, Claire and her 'local' colleague deemed that the property was not safe and too far away for her to stay and decided to cancel.
My housekeeper phoned me immediately and I explained that considering the rate structure, the length of stay and my minimum stay which is two nights, and especially since she was off the grid and communication was quite difficult after several attempts that I would not refund her for the second night.
In my humble opinion, Claire did not take an active interest in ensuring her arrangements for accommodation suited her needs.
I have had several guests stay at my property, using the public bus system (by choice as my welcome pack does offer information of car rental and taxi services).
The walk to the main highway would have been clearly understood had she done her due diligence, even by checking (Hidden by Airbnb) maps or simply enquiring with me - my other reviews highlight how communicative I am as it is my passion to ensure my guests have the best experience here on this magical island.
