Martin and Lene's house is a charming brick building over two stories with a small garden and a creek running behind it. I stayed in their house for a week with my family and we had a great time.
The first floor is bright and spacious with big windows and a door out to the garden. The stairs outside the kitchen is a great place to sit with a coffe while the kids play in the garden. As we're a family, renting a house was a great option for us. The kids loved the toys in the playroom and the garden, and the grownups enjoyed having a charming house to enjoy in the evenings.
The house is situated a bit outside the busiest part of town. You'll walk there in 5 minutes. We had a car and travelled around Jylland to visit Legoland, Givskud Zoo, etc. Vejle and the house was a perfect base for us. We were on a holiday with kids, so doing the town wasn't our agenda, but Vejle will not disappoint in that regard either. It has a surprisingly busy main street with lots of restaurants, cafés and an impressive amount of shopping possibilities.
For parents we can recommend the forest playground (Skovslegeplads) as a nice break from commercial theme parks and sightseeing. It's a nice place to wind down with a picnic, great area for a walk in the woods and a great playground for the kids. Can be a bit hard to find though.
We had some rain during our stay, so we didn't use the garden as much as we hoped and expected. The plan was to enjoy it every night after the kids had gone to sleep. There's a nice table right by the creek to enjoy a meal or a glass of wine, and a large outdoor sofa to enjoy the sun from.
The house has all amenities with a fully equipped kitchen, two living rooms where one doubles as a playroom with toys, a large TV, wifi, a cellar with washing machine, etc.
Martin and Lene weren't able to meet us when we arrived, as they were away on holiday, but they have the nicest neighbors you can think of who greeted us and made us feel at home. Martin and Lene had prepared a folder detailing places of interest and some instructions for the apartment, so we had no trouble settling in. Also, Martin promptly answered all our questions by phone whenever something turned up. All in all we felt very well taken care of.
