Joyce was a delightful host. She made us feel very welcome. The neighborhood is a little sketchy but once inside her yard and home it was cozy and comfortable.
Joyce made me perfectly happy that I chose her airbnd as my home for a brief two day stay in Santa Fe before continuing to Colorado Springs.
All was perfectly described in her listing. From the general location near the Plaza to the personal charm and relaxing warmth that has come natural to her life and abode, I was at ease to come and go without the least inconvenience; her hospitality and attention to my needs (gluten free and organic food, an extra toothbrush, history, suggestions and guide books) as her guest was wonderfully intuitive, respectful and helpful.
You can easily consider Joyce as a friend or the consummate host; in my case, it was like visiting a relative I never knew I had for the first time.
You will appreciate the parking spot reserved for you at the front of the property and the two entrances (at the front and side of the property) your key offers you. There is a gas station conveniently close on Alameda Street, along with the La Montanita Co-op if you need to stock up on snacks or a healthy meal to go.
Due to circumstances out of my control, my arrival was delayed some time past my expected check in time - the Amtrak Southwest Chief was stopped in Albuquerque because of the heavy rains the day before had washed out the tracks ahead of Lamy - and when I finally arrived in the late afternoon (it required two shuttles), Joyce was understanding and available to get me settled in.
If you are comfortable around solitude and tranquility, then the room you stay in will be to your liking. Her house rules are nothing more than the most fundamental arrangements for harmony and mutual respect. Your bathroom is located conveniently next to the bedroom and is stocked with a small selection of complimentary personal care items that may come in handy. There is a small garden - walkway outside the bedroom window and if the weather permits, I suggest keeping it open to enhance your restful sleep each evening.
Let me just add, that I was especially lucky to have Joyce join me for some very engaging conversations after I sat down to the healthy and delicious breakfast (including on one occasion, gluten-free pancakes - a welcomed treat) she laid out for me each morning in her sunroom. You will enjoy being surrounded by all her fresh flowers, plants, attractive decor and art (no doubt from her travels and local excursions).
If you have the opportunity, visit her small garden patio. I will take a rest there on my next visit.
I wish all of you a memorable stay with your host Joyce in Santa Fe!
Quiet, peaceful space with a comfortable bed & gracious host! I would suggest having a car, as it is a bit far to walk. Close to food co-op!
My stay with Joyce was very nice. The room is comfortable and her home is pleasant and quiet. Joyce was friendly and helpful without being at all intrusive -- available when needed, offered good suggestions about the local Santa Fe opportunities, but left me plenty of privacy. I would definitely stay with her again.
Joyce made us feel very comfortable and the house was immaculate. The bed is very comfortable ---we don't have any complaints. It was an enjoyable stay and we appreciated the comfort of her home although we didn't stay around the house much as our time in Santa Fe was short.
Joyce made us feel comfortable and welcome right away by a allowing us to check in early after a long drive. Her home is cozy with an artsy feel. Joyce has a great eye for art and her home exudes a southwest charm. We felt as if we had our privacy but Joyce was available to help with recommendations, directions and provide plenty of SF visitor information. She was so kind to prepare coffee and breakfast each day. My daughter and I both felt an instant connection with Joyce and were happy when she accepted our invention to dinner . We feel we have a new friend in Joyce and look forward to our next trip to SF and to Joyce's charming casita.
A proposito dell'host, Joyce
I LEFT THE U.S. WHEN I WAS 21 AND I HAVE BEEN LIVING AND TRAVELING OUTSIDE THE U.S. EVER SINCE. NOW I AM SETTLED IN SANTA FE, THE ONLY PLACE IN THE U.S. I BELIEVE I COULD LIVE, AND I WANT TO SHARE MY SPACE WITH OTHER TRAVELERS.
