Perhaps the best way to describe Le Marais today is “fusion.” It is ancient and youthful. It is trendy and timeless. You can walk right out of your luxury Paris apartment to stand in line at a falafel stand. Or, you can dine at one of the elegant restaurants. A striking Art Nouveau synagogue stands not far from old churches. And you are just as likely to see Hasidic Jews walking down the streets in this vibrant Jewish section as to glimpse at gay couples strolling arm in arm.
