It is a joy to stay with Robin and Peter. You feel as though you are staying with family (the good kind!). They were warm and helpful and very open, sharing advice and stories, all of which made it much easier to adjust to being in a new environs and figuring out how to navigate Vancouver. They were well-informed about local events and made helpful suggestions for restaurants/shops and activities.
Each of the bedrooms has its own TV and desk, so you can keep to yourself and work or connect with other guests/family as you wish. Each room also has its own mini-fridge (in addition to access to the large kitchen fridge) --helpful to keep your food fresh.
It was also very handy to have access to the laundry, washer and dryer.
It was also really great to have the other part of the 'B' in BnB: breakfast! There was whole milk (in a bottle, the old way), and organic eggs, cereal, tea and so on--all provided.
All in all, a wonderful experience!
I spent 2 weeks here in August, its very close to Commercial Drive which I think in modern terminology is described as 'funky', lots of restaurants, bars, shops and a slight 1970's feel to the place. I had a bedroom in a light and spacious basement with a comfortable double bed, plenty of wardrobe space, a desk, chair, and TV. I shared the bathroom on the ground floor. cereal, juice, fresh fruit, tea and coffee were all provided for breakfast, I did no cooking but I saw other guests preparing meals. The house has a nice deck area and garden at the rear. Robin let me use her washer and dryer for laundry. It's a nice place to stay if you are visiting Vancouver, 10 min walk to skytrain and very close to downtown bus routes. Robin and Peter were very easy to get along with, very interesting and considerate.
My friend and I stayed Peter & Robin's place in March 2013 for attending workshop for a week. They always are warmly make sure we are happy and everything fine. I usually don't like to share kitchen and bathroom with somebody else, but I was OK because Robin is friendly and good communicator. The bed mattress is comfortable and towels are fresh. Each room has closet and TV. It's help yourself breakfast, but there are yogurt, coffee and tea, cereals and granola, eggs and bread enough for me. I was totally happy to stay there.
The place is still awesome.
We had a wonderful stay at Robin & Peters place. They are very freindly and gave us some helpful directions on things to do an places to go. The house and room is welcoming (bed was really comfy!) and the new deck was perfect for chilling out on with a beautiful plum tree giving shade for when it is a bit too sunny!
We would most definitly recommend staying here and I am sure we will be back on our next visit!!
So enjoyed my stay with Robin and Peter, they are bright, warm and gracious hosts. Emailing was easy and responsive.
Robin helped oriented me to the city and we had some terrific conversations. The are located near a happening street with great restaurants and health food stores. The Skytrain that takes you into downtown Vancouver is just a short walk away.
'PERFECT' is the first word that comes to my mind for me to classify our stay in Vancouver at Robin and Peter's B&B. They are not only kind and helpful but also very interesting people with whom we could spend hours talking about the most different subjects without feeling time pass by. Everything at this B&B was above our expectations. The garden is beautiful, the kitchen is friendly and the room is private and very quiet. Their house is, at the same time, close to the most dinamic/charming avenue we found in Vancouver and peacefully away from the noise when you need to rest. Going downtown takes about 18 minutes by Skytrain or riding a bike in a beautiful and safe bike path route. We left Robin and Peter's a few hours ago and we already miss them, their nice and artistic son and their amazing and natural hospitality / Laura and Alziro.
Staying with Robin and Peter was a lovely experience for me! They are warm and kind people who've created a cozy and lovely home that I felt comfortable in. On a beautiful tree-lined street, quiet yet steps away from the bustle of awesome Commercial Drive, it was a relaxing haven in the city. Help-yourself breakfast fit me perfectly, as it was all healthy options. I would definitely stay again, and I would recommend it as a homey place to stay while in Vancouver.
I loved staying at Peter & Robin's place. I was in Vancouver for around 9 days and felt very much at home. The place is exactly what you see in pictures except that a camera perhaps can't capture the warmth and the welcoming feel.
You'll find the Robin & Peter very delightful to meet and know. If you need to know anything about places to see, the routes, the history of the city or what to do when you encounter a bear, they will be more than happy to help you.
The room I stayed in was very cozy and quiet. The window opened outside to the beautiful front yard. I found all the amenities in the room - a comfy bed with table lamps, desk, wifi, mirrors, closet, paper, pencils, tv and a very nice collection of books from other things.
The house is located near the sky train station- and there is a bus at a walking distance that goes from Downtown to as far as U of BC. There are a lot of restaurants, cafes and shops nearby (and I do recommend you check them out when you are there).
And well, to sum it up: It's a quality place to stay with wonderful hosts. Highly recommended!
Peter and Robin are great hosts! It made my first week in Vancouver enjoyable. The place is great and getting into downtown is an easy walk to the Skytrain then six minutes on the train. Lots of food shops around the corner which is handy too! Would recommend.
