Cozy room is comfortable and well appointed with a queen-size bed. It is semi-detached with its own entrance and lots of privacy. The bath is lovely with an original claw-foot tub. You will have access to this historic house and all outdoor spaces.

Beautiful 1920 Spanish Colonial designed by a prominent San Antonio architect. The room and bath are private with their own entrance as well as an adjacent sitting room with a fireplace and large flat screen television with cable and more. The bath is lovely with an original claw-foot tub. The home is large and comfortable with modern kitchen, wfi, cable, original stained glass, and a large fireplace.
The linens are high quality cotton and sun dried and the towels are thick and large. I use only non-toxic cleaners.

Guests will have access to modern kitchen, dining room, living room, sun room, laundry facilities and access to and all outdoor spaces (small balcony, veranda, and back yard with small rose garden). Adjacent to the bed and bath is a sitting room with a fireplace and large flat screen television for guest use.

We will consider guests as housemates and hope they will make themselves at home! We are available for conversations or for information or we can leave you some space for well-earned privacy! We are here to help make your trip the best it can be.

The house is in eclectic and walkable Beacon Hill on the northern edge of central downtown 'which boast of a destination shopping area of vintage and art wares, as well as a coffee house, a great Texas music venue, and CNN's pick for one of the top ten taco places in the U.S. (which is two blocks from our home.) We are on two bus lines to take you downtown (in five minutes) and beyond, walking and biking distance from local bars, eateries, galleries, museums, and very cute shops. We are close to San Pedro Springs Park (with pool) the second oldest park in the U.S., and The Pearl on the Museum reach of the San Antonio River.
AirBNB view of neighborhood does not reflect the correct 100 block of house which is much nicer.

This overview gives you the location of our home, driving directions from the airport, general bus information, bus route from and to the airport, and bus information to and from the Convention Center.

The house is on an urban intersection with access to two major bus lines to take guests downtown and beyond. Guests can bike and walk to most downtown attractions. Parking is provided in our driveway or across the street.
Directions from airport: Take 281 South to Hildebrand exit. Turn right on Hildebrand and turn left on Blanco Avenue. Go straight until Woodlawn. The house is on the southwest corner of Blanco and Woodlawn.

Bus Information:
The 90 (which becomes the 36) and the 2 (which becomes the 34) bus lines will pick you up on one of the corners in front of our home and take you downtown and to Southtown.
To go downtown (south) the 90/36 picks you up at the stop on the corner of our yard. The 2/32 picks you up across Woodlawn.

Returning back to the house, pull the line when you hear the announcement, "Woodlawn at Blanco" (90/36) or "Blanco at Woodlawn" (2/34). Both of these buses drop you off at one of our corners.

To return to the house: If you have problems with the schedule, you may pick up the 90/36 or the 2/34 at the corner of Navarro and Houston Streets next to the Walgreens (same stop) or on Alamo and Cesar Chavez Streets on separate corners to come back to the house.

Take the #5 at the airport to downtown. Get off at the North Star Mall transfer station and change to the #2 to downtown. Get off at the Blanco/Woodlawn corner (Pull the wire when it is announced). That is the corner we live on. Cross the street to our house which is the white Spanish one. Do the opposite when going back to the airport: Take the #2 north and get off at North Star Mall transfer station. Take the #5 to the airport.

You can pick up the 90/36 or 2/34 to go to the Convention Center depending on which comes first. No matter which bus you take, get off at St. Mary's between Market and Commerce Streets (it is a big transfer point). Walk the half block back to Market Street, turn right, and walk three blocks to Convention Center.
To come back, walk back on Market (west) two blocks to Navarro Street. Turn right and the bus stop for both buses in on the corner of Navarro and Commerce Streets on the side of the CVS store.

We have had two slightly negative remarks in our reviews this year. One was a small complaint about the air conditioner's loudness. We replaced it. The other was a request for a television in the bedroom. We were unable to accommodate, but we have added a sitting room adjacent to the room with a fireplace and large screen television with Netflix and cable. A note about our cleaning policy: I use mostly natural, home-made nontoxic products to clean and I sanitize fixtures, doorknobs, light switches, etc. for your safety.

Mark & Cynthia's place was charming! Our room was cozy and smelled so fresh throughout our stay. Their place is minutes from a few coffee shops and great local restaurants. We'll definitely be staying here in future trips!

This was my third time staying with Mark and Cynthia and it is the only place I consider when visiting San Antonio. It's a lovely space, terrific hosts, and a great neighborhood.

We recommend Mark's & Cynthia's AirBnB private garden suite to visitors to San Antonio. It has a private entrance with full access to the enclosed backyard and patio where you can sit and relax before or after your day of exploring the city sites. The rooms were as described on the web site with access in the suite area to a small refrigerator and large screen TV in the sitting area. We also had full access to their kitchen, which we did not take advantage of except for coffee with Cynthia in the morning. Mark and Cynthia could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. They shared suggestions for restaurants and areas of the city to explore. There are two public bus lines on the corner by the house that are very easy to navigate and there are bus schedules in your room. Don't hesitate to use the bus system. The bus drivers were very helpful and friendly. We paid $6 for a weekly pass for unlimited rides. Uber is also available in the the area. We enjoyed our stay with Mark and Cynthia and getting to know them. You would not be disappointed staying here.

We now have had several years of hosting airbnb, and it has been a great experience! We have hosted friends from not only all over the U.S., but from all over the world as well.
About us: We are airbnb travelers as well as hosts. We have walked the Camino in Spain, climbed the pyramids outside of Mexico City, cycled a century ride in Maine, sat in the hot baths in Budapest. We are active cyclists, we love to travel, and we are avid readers. We love local music and art and food and would love to tell you about our cool city!
We have been reading, lately, about hosts that discriminate or guests that feel vulnerable. In our home, you will be made to feel welcomed, and I want you to know that this is a safe space for you to be comfortable.
