We had a wonderful stay at the River's edge B&B over the Canada Day long weekend. Debra far exceeded our expectations in terms of her hospitality and friendliness. The B&B was everything that was advertised and more. Although the location is not central, Debra was able to pick us up and drop us off in Ottawa for our daily activities for a lower a fee than any other form of transportation available and was extremely patient with us in terms of scheduling. In terms of activities at the B&B, we had a wonderful campfire-side chat with her by the river on the first night. She is an extremely interesting person (who is a certified Reiki master) with many stories to tell, and a local with deep knowledge of Ottawa and Gatineau. The breakfast on both days we stayed was incredible, as Debra showed us what a true Canadian breakfast could be like. We had pancakes with authentic local maple syrup; real Canadian bacon that was out of this world; fresh local strawberry that were straight from the vine and absolutely succulent; authentic poutine with cheese curds from a dairy farm just a short drive away. The B&B is very clean and nicely decorated, and the area it was located in is serene. You can truly feel at one with nature. Mika, the resident Shih-Tzu dog, was friendly and eager to play with us. Although the accommodation is not an entire private apartment, it's possible that Debra could arrange for it to be private when you stay, as she did one night for us. (The other night we came too late.) The village of Manotick, which she provided us with a tour of, is quite quaint and charming. It also has a great range of services and shops for its size. There are several well rated restaurants featuring a range of cuisines and prices.
