Descrizione

Two-bedroom, two bath cabin eight miles south of Boone, North Carolina on Highway 105 in the Watauga River Valley. Fifteen minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Blowing Rock. A large covered wrap-around porch offers the best sittin' in the Blue Ridge and a long-range mountain view. Enjoy your solitude or entertain in the spacious great room. Nearby family-friendly attractions include Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, three ski resorts, countless hiking trails, and excellent golf.

The cabin has two bedrooms. There are two twin beds in the first bedroom and a queen-sized bed in the second. (We also have two air mattresses - one single and one full - with additional bedding if requested.) Each bedroom has its own washroom with a shared tub area between them. We provide clean bedding, towels, washcloths, hand towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

The kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you need. We also provide paper towels, place-mats, and napkins. There is a charcoal grill available for outside cooking.

Guests may use the laundry facilities in the basement level.

There is a flat-screen TV with basic cable channels, wi-fi, and a house phone that can be used for local and long distance (USA) calls.

The house is wheel-chair accessible and there is a grab-bar for the tub. We can also install a safety gate at the top of the stairs if you are bringing small children (or someone elderly who might require it).

Guests can access all parts of the house: great room, kitchen, bedrooms, baths, laundry room, and deck. The long driveway can even provide a pleasant stroll. The only restricted area is the two bedrooms we are currently renovating in the basement. These will remain blocked off until they are guest-ready.

We welcome families, but we do wish to add a word of caution if you are bringing very young children. The wrap-around deck is one of the wonderful things about the cabin, but on the backside, it sits twenty feet above the ground. There is a railing, of course (you can see it in the photo) but young children should NEVER, EVER be left on the deck unsupervised.

We live in the neighborhood and are available to troubleshoot, give directions, and be generally helpful.

Our cabin is located in a small subdivision called Watauga River Overlook. The neighborhood is rustic, with gravel roads and about twenty houses on wooded lots. Most of the residents live here year-round, so ours is an "ordinary" neighborhood in that sense. The entrance is on NC Highway 105. Vista Lane is about a half-mile from the highway.

The roads in our neighborhood can be traversed by any vehicle in any season EXCEPT in snow or ice. During winter events, four-wheel drive is ABSOLUTELY necessary. (The roads are scraped, but gravel roads cannot be salted.) Two-wheel drive vehicles CANNOT get to the cabin if the roads are snow-covered.

Are you an Outlander fan? According to author Diana Gabaldon, the fictitious Fraser’s Ridge "is nestled in an area north of the Yadkin River between the towns of Boone and Blowing Rock, North Carolina, near Grandfather Mountain, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina." That would be, well, right here! How fun is that?

I actually reserved Susan's place for my very busy parents to have a night away for their anniversary. The reservation process was so quick and easy with Susan. She was quick to respond, very accommodating and thoughtful when I had to make changes or ask questions. My parents said Susan was very nice and welcoming. They said the house was very clean and well-equipped. They were happy to find the wine glasses :-) Thank you, Susan!

Susan's cabin was fantastic! She provided a fully-equipped kitchen, everything was neat and tidy, and we felt very at home. The location is wonderful- not far off the highway, but you feel way back in the mountains. Highly recommended!

Susan & Larry's place was great- clean, cozy, and plenty of room for the four of us! We were pleasantly surprised by how well-stocked the kitchen was. The location was great - conveniently located off the highway, but it definitely felt private. My only tip is to arrive during the day if possible, as the gravel road and driveway are a bit tough to navigate in the dark when you're not sure where you're going.

The description and pictures here are great but to wake up in this home is incredible. A private tucked away slice of heaven. The sun rises through the trees and watching the sky turn from peach, purple and gold to a Carolina blue is spectacular, the residence is cozy and spacious all at once. Ms. Susan of course was so accommodating. We arrived late and departed a tardy but she was as gracious as could be. Additionally all of my communications with her as cheery as a breezy spring day. I highly recommend this place.
